Scarlett:

I opened my eyes to find Maddie sitting beside me.

Her eyes met my own and despite the throb in my head, I smiled, patting the bed as to have her lay beside me. She did, raising herself on her left arm as she faced me.

The woman has not only been there for me on my toughest of days, she was also my listening ear when I felt like I was alone.

“How are you feeling? What did the doctor tell you this time?” She asked, her voice gentle.
