ALPHA ANDREW

"Good morning, sir," the middle-aged man greeted me. His hand carried a lamp, as the power supply seemed to have blacked off.

"What do you want?" I asked him coldly. My eyes fixated on him, trying to see if he had come to spy on me. After all, the humans cannot be trusted.

"Nothing, sir. I just thought to bring this lamp to you as the hotel power supply and generator went off because of the heavy rainfall," he replied, his voice quivering as he trembled under my scrutiny.

"Leave. It's not needed," I dismissed him coldly, my voice chilling him and turning him on his heels.

"Alright, sir. But, how do you like our hotel? You can help us to run a free review to attract more customers," he paused to ask, and I knew that he was up to something.

"Next time," I dismissed him, striding away. He called to my attention.

"Excuse me, sir? How about the lady with you last night? She is not one of our women. Did you pay her?" he asked, and I paused.

This was why he was here. To spy on me and to know if I had paid the lady.

I took slow, menacing steps to meet the manager, who cowered backward in fear.

"Sir, I was only just asking to be sure that she is fine. We always check in to see that both patrons are okay," he stuttered as I stood before him.

"Yes." My response was calm. "Do you have a problem with my settling her?"

"No, no, sir. I just want to be sure that she is fine and not dead. Since you are leaving, you will have to wait for me to check on her and see that she is fine," he spluttered, trembling before me.

"Fine. Come with me. I do not have much time to spare." I strode back to the door, my hand reaching for it as I swung the door awake.

The messy hotel room came into view. The pretty woman lay on her side on the bed. If I hadn't returned to check, she would have landed on the hard ground which would inevitably jolt her awake.

The thought of her weak body lying on the cold ground until morning made me dart back into the room like a flash.

I didn't spare a glance at the manager who stammered, "How do you run so swift like that?"

My hand reached for the sleeping figure on the bed. Carefully, I tucked her back under the bed quilt and covered her properly.

I ensured to safeguard her with two pillows on both sides.

"Ugh! Why cover her like that? She's not a baby," Zion growled, clearly displeased at my actions of caring for the woman.

My heart couldn't bear the thought of her weak body in the cold. It made my chest tighten.

Done covering her and moving her to the middle of the bed, I turned to the manager who had wide open eyes now watching me.

"Done. You can see that she is asleep and breathing. Do you need anything else?" I asked him coldly.

As I took long steps to meet him, he backed away.

"Not at all. I can see that she is fine. I will take my leave now. Thank you for coming to lodge in Dennis Hotel," he said, as I shut the door and turned to leave.

"Alright. You can leave. I will keep my eyes on you. If I find out you bullied the woman after my leave, you will regret it." My eyes darkened as I met his brown eyes.

Shivering, he said, "I will give her the best treatment here in our hotel. You have nothing to worry about."

"I will hold you to your words. And if she asks, tell her I have gone," I said, calmly, before striding off.

"Got it, sir." The manager's words came from behind, but I left the brothel to catch up with my men on the first floor. We had a four-hour trip to make to the Dark Mountain Pack, first travelling by taxi, and secondly sailing on the boat to cross over to the other side of the bustling city.

"Alpha, how did it go?" my Gamma, Carlos Connor, asked me. He was 26, tall, dark-skinned and masculine like me.

"Fine. Let's go," I ordered them calmly, as we stepped out of the brothel to meet the rest of the five men who had accompanied us, just in case we came under attack or were outnumbered.

They were my trained warriors, more like bouncers.

As I stepped out of the Dennis Hotel, the early morning wind greeted me. The city skyline glistened like diamonds across the sky as it wasn't yet morning.

The distant sound of a bat howling in the dark caught my attention.

I could see in the dark as the moonlight bathed us and cast a silver glow around the vicinity.

The taxi Steven had ordered arrived and parked in front of us and we hopped in. Carlos commented.

"Dennis Hotel has the most beautiful courtesans. I cannot get enough of her body. Alpha, can we bring some of these women over to the pack?" Carlos asked, shifting his gaze to peer at my face as I sat in the back, going through my phone.

"No," I replied dismissively, not sparing a glance at Carlos.

"You know the rules governing our pack," I replied calmly. My eyes remained fixed on my phone as I checked on the list of things I had to do.

"Alright. When next we come to this city, I will like to make a short trip to this Dennis Hotel again," Carlos murmured, but I didn't want to chime in.

Would I like to make a visit here? No. Was I hoping to cross paths with that woman again? I don't think so.

My cọck hardened with a deep, throbbing desire to claim her again. My fist clenched as my mind growled that word. "Mate!"

"No!" Zion growled behind me.

"She cannot be ours. She is a human. She cannot be our mate!" My wolf refused to accept her. The atmosphere in the car thickened because of my alpha aura.

"Alpha. Are you alright?" Steven asked. He sat next to me, and even the driver was having a hard time breathing under the weight of my aura.

"Yes," I breathed out hotly, letting the car window down. My hand rested on the car armrest.

"What happened, Alpha? Your mood got dark?" Steven asked, his tone laced with concern. His eyes on me.

Looking over at Steven's face, I drew a deep breath. "Calm down, Zion. The human is not our mate!" I growled at my wolf, knowing that his mood affected mine. Can't we be in synchronization?

"It's nothing serious," I gritted out to Steven. "Did you get the present for Zoey?" I asked him, my eyes meeting his.

"Of course, Alpha. I selected a beautiful piece of diamond-encrusted necklace and wristwatch for her. Do you want to see it?" Steven inquired, his tone gentle. "Though it's in the luggage."

"No need. When we get to the pack, you have it over to Zoey." I cut him off. I didn't want to be the one buying gifts for Zoey. If my mother had not insisted, I wouldn't even care.

"Alright, Alpha," Steven's response was calm, and a heavy silence hung in the car, save for the engine that glided through the road path, slicing through different landscapes and towering buildings until we arrived at the docking piers.

Alpha Andrew's POV“Mom, what do you want to discuss with me?” I asked her calmly when I stepped into the kitchen. Mom stood beside the cabinet, her back resting against it. Her gaze fixed on me as she asked, “Why do you not want to accept Zoey as your mate? You know that she loves you, right?” I met her golden eyes, and I sighed. “I know,” I replied calmly, and moved up to the cabinet to meet her. “I see Zoey as my sister. I do not want her to feel hurt, especially if I get to find my mate.” “What if you find your mate? Do you think you can just ditch Alpha Bennett’s daughter for the new mate?” Mom pressed, and I had already thought about this. “Hannah will understand. If we have a child before I find my mate, I will not file for a divorce. But if there is no child, we will be parting. But Zoey will not want to understand any of this,” I explained calmly as I looked over at my mother’s face. “Mom, I understand that Zoey has feelings for me. But Zion does not want her. H

Martha's POV When Mr. Weston came downstairs and ordered that we leave, I quickly placed my phone in my bag, as I hadn't expected him to catch me researching wolves. There were no real facts about wolves' existence, only a few blogs and some stories about them.Sighing, I stepped out of the restaurant with Mr. Weston. He led me to his car and unlocked the door for me. Once I perched on the front seat, Mr. Weston shut the car door like a gentleman as he moved around the car and climbed into the driver's seat. After we fastened our seatbelts, Mr. Weston started the car and drove back to his house. The car ride was silent, and I didn't feel anxious; perhaps I was getting used to him.I reclined against the car seat, and Mr. Weston asked, "How was your day? I hope you weren't stressed? Controlling a multimillion-dollar corporation is no small feat," he said, and I smiled."Yeah. My day was fine, but I'll get used to it.""Alright. About the house agent you requested, I already made inqui

Jasper's POV I wasn't happy that Dr. Tina arrived at my restaurant to have dinner with me. Why couldn't she understand that she isn't my mate, that Ivan and I don't want her? My wolf liked Martha and admired her. Even though she was a human, I felt attracted to her. But I don't have any feelings for Dr. Tina. I just like her as a friend and not someone I wanted to have a relationship with. Though I used to have my dinner with Dr. Tina, not now that I planned to date Martha. I don't want to ruin my chances with her. When Dr. Tina and I reached the top floor private room, where a few patrons were seated at different tables, she sat across from me and asked, "You look tense, Jasper. What's wrong?" "Everything, Tina. Why are you here?" Her brows furrowed and she replied, "Is it because of Martha that you are cruel to me?" Her eyes welled up in tears and my fist clenched. I couldn't respond. More so because I knew that Alpha Andrew was searching for Martha. Though my brother said t

Mark's POV:I had only wanted to apologize to Martha when I saw her seated alone. I wanted to plead with her to give me a second chance, even though not as her boyfriend, but at least as a family friend so we could put our issues behind us. But Jasper stepped out of his office like he already perceived my presence. When I looked over at Jasper's face, I caught his eyes glowing golden, and that made me tremble, but I was already getting closer to Martha."Martha," I tried to talk to her, to forgive Elena and me, but her boss warned me to stay back."Stay back, Mark. The next time you come close to Martha, I will deal with you myself," he warned, his voice cold.I wanted to retort, but when I met his black eyes and the threat in them, with the presence of the bodyguards that stepped forward, I stepped back, my fists clenched, and I moved to the table to join Elena. Just as I glanced back, I saw Jasper wind his arm around Martha's shoulder and lead her away."You do not have to get worri

Elena's POV:"You don't have to cry," Mark said as he stepped closer to my bed. His hands reached for mine. "You still have me.""You don't get it," I shouted, pulling my hand away from his. "It's not that I don't want to marry you, but my mother. How can she not attend my wedding? I think it's best we postpone the wedding," I cried, meeting Mark's gaze. His jaw tightened as he stepped away from me."You know that's not possible. The wedding cannot be shifted. So get ready to test the wedding dress. Also, we have a chance to visit the police and ask for your mother's release, just so she can attend your wedding. But we cannot shift the wedding. I will be back. Let me see Dr. Anthony for your discharge."Mark pulled the door open and exited the room before I could stop him. I sat on the bed, sobbing as I could not believe that I was pregnant. How had this all happened so fast? Yes, I wanted to take Mark away from Martha, but I hadn't expected the news of my pregnancy. What was I thinki

Haven't I made my point clear?I picked up the phone and demanded in a steady, calm voice, "What do you want, ma?""Martha, Elena is pregnant by Mark. How can you be so inconsiderate as to not want to help them?""What?" I spat out the food in my mouth; I hadn't expected Elena to be pregnant by Mark. Well, they were already having sex, and I didn't know how long those two had been discreetly screwing each other, even in my father's house. So whenever Mark arrived to see me, he slipped into Elena's room to make love to her under the pretense that he was only checking up on her.For a moment, I was quiet before Mrs. Zara's voice resonated in my ear. "Martha, can you hear me?""Of course, I heard you clearly. Congratulations to Elena and your son. Since she is pregnant, good luck to her—but I don't care, and I am not offering Mark any job.
