chapter twenty

HOURS BACK

Lucas stood in his favorite spot, behind the window whose blinds have been drawn away and gazed out of the window down the street. He let the time tick in his head as he waited for his two most trusted people to arrive. It was finally time he told them everything as he had promised. The other day he had gone and confirmed that truly the Crescent pack exists.

Moments later, he heard the sound of their shoes accompanied by their bickering. He had left the door open knowing they would soon arrive.

“So, what is this you have to tell us?” Fabiano asked as he turned one of the seats around to face the direction Lucas was facing and then slumped into it. “Ooof! I still have another shift to run in an hour’s time.”

“Baby,” Lauretha crept up behind him and whispered. She planted a kiss on his cheeks. “So…what is it you have for us?”

He turned to face them, then to Fabiano he said specifically, “You certainly would lose interest in that job of yours after you heard all I have to say.
