Chapter 4

Arturo:

I watched as Sienna sat on her chair beside the window.

Her heart raced as she sat, clearly anxious. The family was either asleep, or busying themselves with whatever they had to tend to. My parents were on a different plane for security reasons, each one of us took their own planes.

Sienna and I haven’t said a word to one another since what happened at the wedding, and it didn’t take me long to realize that she was avoiding any interaction with me to begin with. And though even mom noticed on the runway that we weren’t walking, especially when she believed that we were growing ‘intimate’, she sensed that something might have happened. But thankfully, choosing to put whatever assumptions she had in mind, she didn’t say a word.

I got up from my seat. The plane was already halfway back to New York, and it wouldn’t be long until we were home, at the Estate, expected to fulfill our duties as Alpha and Luna toward one another. The ceremony, that she as a wolf expected, was not going to happen. Though a small celebration of a new Luna would be made, it wouldn’t be an extravagant one. It would just be one to announce that their Alpha has now found his ‘Luna’, or in other words, a potential heir would be born, a continuation of their Alpha’s bloodline. And that was something that was very important when it came to our pack and family.

I got myself and her two glasses of cocktail, she didn’t bother putting anything in her mouth since we got on, and I was starting to wonder whether it was because she was nervous of the marking when we got back, or an aftermath of me pinning her against the door in the dressing room.

I put the drink on the small table beside her, catching her off guard before sitting down. She frowned in confusion, and looked down at the drink as she straightened on her chair. “I figured that you would at least drink something. We still have a few hours to go, and you haven’t eaten or at least you didn’t even drink anything since the wedding.”

“Thank you.” She said, looking down at the glass before taking it in her hand. She took a sip of the juice, and looking out the window again, she smiled. “I apologize for my behavior at the wedding today, more specifically, after the wedding. It was disrespectful from me towards you as my Alpha…”

“I did not ask you to apologize, nor did I come here seeking an apology. If anything, I should be the one apologizing for pinning you against the door, and here I am, not doing so.” I said, my voice softening. No one was technically around, therefore, putting on the tough man mask was not really needed. Plus, the woman was a bride, and if anything, I could tell that she was just as forced as I was into this.

“I’m guessing that we’re even?” She asked, and I nodded. I gave her a gentle smile of assurance, not wanting her to be ‘afraid’. The two of us knew that I could very much crush her in seconds, but I also knew that it wouldn’t make me a man to do something like that to a woman.

“Yes, but if you do try to be a sass queen on me again, I will be sure to make you regret it, little wolf.” I said, smirking at her. Sienna, catching on to my teasing behavior, smiled and nodded.

“Although I am interested in taking up the challenge, I would rather not do that right now. But I will be sure to keep that in mind.” She said, making me chuckle. I nodded and got up from the chair, leaving her to drink her beverage as I walked toward Donatello, my right hand, and best friend who was sitting on his chair, scrolling through his phone.

He raised an eyebrow at me and I simply nodded at him to follow me. He put his phone down and got up from his chair, and entering my office, the plane was a customized one, and rather than having different compartments, I had a bedroom and an office. His green eyes met my brown ones and he shook his head in question as he locked the door. I turned on the voice muffler, making sure that no one outside could hear the two of us as we spoke. This came in handy when it came to being in a plane with other wolves, and the last thing that I needed was for anyone to hear about this.

“I take it that you want me to do something.” Donatello stated, making me chuckle. I nodded and crossed my arms over my chest as I recalled how her parents had treated her. Knowing how my mother treated my sister, Valeria, when she simply found her mate, I was surprised to see that her mother was literally void of emotions. At least Val stayed back at the pack with us alongside her mate. Sienna was literally going to a whole different continent.

“I want you to find everything that you can about Sienna. Where she came from, her family, I want everything about her.” I said, looking my best friend in the eye.

“Is everything alright?” He asked. “I thought that we already ran that check? You know, the two families were chosen together due to being the strongest of two…”

“Yes, but something inside me tells me that we’re missing a few things, what they are, I don’t know. I want you to find out.” I said, looking at him. He nodded, and taking a step back, he looked at the door, silently asking for permission to leave. I nodded at him, allowing him to go out as I sat on my chair, pulling my laptop out, opening it.

“Let’s see what you’re hiding, neonata…”
