Echoes in an Empty Villa

ผู้เขียน: Audrey
(Vivian's POV)

"Are you sure you're ready for this?" Emma asked as our pack transport vehicle pulled up to the Northern Territory villa.

I stared at the imposing structure through the window. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the meticulously maintained grounds, highlighting the elegant werewolf-influenced architecture that had once filled me with such pride.

"It's just a house," I replied, though Phoebe stirred uneasily within me, suggesting she knew better.

Ruby bounced excitedly in her seat. "I can't believe I finally get to see the famous Northern Territory villa! You've been hiding this treasure from us!"

As we stepped out of the vehicle, I felt a strange hollowness in my chest. The last time I'd been here, Sylvan's rain-forest scent had lingered in every corner. Now, the place felt... empty.

"It's so quiet," I murmured as I unlocked the massive front door.

The interior was exactly as I remembered - luxurious, tasteful, with high ceilings and enormous windows

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Fevered Care

(Vivian's POV)The warm liquid slid down my throat, soothing the raw, burning sensation that had plagued me for hours. I savored the last sip before handing the empty mug back to Sylvan."What is this elderflower and moonpetal broth? It's so much more soothing than willow bark tea," I murmured, surprised by the relief it brought.Sylvan took the mug from my hands, his fingers carefully avoiding contact with mine. His ice-blue eyes studied me with an intensity that made me want to look away."Go back to sleep for a while," he said softly, already moving toward the door.I wanted to protest, to remind him that he had no right to be here in my apartment, giving me orders. But my eyelids grew heavy, and the comforting warmth of the broth spread through my aching body. Before I could form a coherent argument, Sylvan had closed the bedroom door behind him, leaving me alone in the tranquil room. Phoebe whimpered softly within me, torn between relief and confusion at his presence. The n

(Vivian's POV)I was lost in the haze of fever dreams when a knock jolted me awake. My eyelids felt heavy, my body ached, and for a moment, I wasn't sure if the sound was real or imagined. The knock came again, more insistent this time."Who is it?" I called, my voice scraping painfully against my raw throat."It's Lyra, your neighbor," came a cheerful voice. "Finnian and I brought you something!"I dragged myself out of bed, grabbing a protective mask from my nightstand. As a healer, I knew better than to spread whatever nasty pack fever I'd contracted. My legs wobbled beneath me as I made my way to the door. When I opened it, She-wolf Lyra stood there with her young pup Finnian. The boy's eyes brightened when he saw me, though they quickly widened at the sight of my mask."Are you playing healer games?" he asked innocently.Despite my misery, I couldn't help smiling behind the mask. "No, sweetie. I'm actually sick with pack fever."Lyra pulled Finnian back slightly, her mate

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   The Price of Memory

(Vivian's POV)Alpha Warrick stared at me with thinly veiled impatience, his silver-streaked fur seeming to bristle as he continued pushing for a lower price on my Northern Territory villa."The market has continued to decline," he insisted, leaning forward in his chair. "Fifteen percent reduction is more than reasonable."Before I could respond, She-wolf Kaelia placed a manicured hand on the table, her scent sharpening with anxiety."We were the first to make an offer!" she exclaimed, her voice rising an octave. "There should be some acknowledgment of priority, surely?"The desperation in her tone was unmistakable. I noticed how her eyes darted to Alpha Warrick, silently reminding him of something unspoken between them. She was leveraging her youth and beauty, I realized. For him, she represented a chance at a legacy—a young, ambitious mate to carry his bloodline forward. For her, he was clearly a path to status and wealth."First offer doesn't automatically mean best offer," I

(Vivian's POV)The living room was very quiet, so quiet it was desolate. I stood inside the doorway of the Northern Territory villa, my heart hammering against my ribs. The familiar space felt both welcoming and unsettling, a contradiction that made Phoebe stir within me.I'd expected emptiness, silence. Instead, the moon-crystal lamps cast their gentle glow across the room, illuminating everything just as they had when we'd lived here together. The soft hum of running water from the ensuite bathroom upstairs confirmed I wasn't alone. My feet carried me forward automatically, my fingers trailing along the back of the leather sofa we'd chosen together. Sylvan's rain-forest scent lingered in the air, subtly mingling with the healing herbs from my previous visits.I moved through the first floor quickly, noting signs of occupancy everywhere. This wasn't someone collecting belongings—this was someone living here. Sylvan's leather-bound territory reports sat open on the desk in the stud

  • Alpha Begged His Doctor Luna come back   Spring Snowman

(Vivian's POV)I woke with a splitting headache, my temples throbbing in painful synchronization with my heartbeat. Groaning, I rolled over in bed, trying to piece together fragments of memory from the previous night.Lucas's birthday party. The video of Sylvan. That sweet wolfsbane cocktail...Everything after that was a haze of disconnected images and sensations. Had I dreamed of snow? Of being carried in strong arms?Phoebe whimpered softly within me, sharing my discomfort. With considerable effort, I dragged myself to the shower, letting the hot water cascade over my aching body. By the time I stepped out, I'd managed to convince myself I could function through my shift at the Pack Medical Center. At work, I moved through my morning rounds on autopilot. The pain behind my eyes only intensified under the harsh lights. I chewed on a bitter pain-relieving herb from my personal supplies, grimacing at the taste but grateful for the mild relief it provided."Did you hear about the

(Sylvan's POV)The night air was cool against my face as I approached The Crescent Club. Lucas's party was already in full swing, the sounds of laughter and howling spilling out into the darkness. My wolf, Logan, stirred beneath my skin with anticipation, eager to find one specific scent among the many.I paused at the entrance, straightening my jacket. Despite my usual confidence, I felt a flicker of uncertainty. Vivian had made me promise not to show my face to her again, and here I was, deliberately seeking her out."Alpha Thorne!" A group of wolves playing cards near the door called out greetings, their faces adorned with forfeiture markings in ink - a traditional pack game.I nodded curtly in acknowledgment but didn't stop to chat. My eyes, which I knew appeared particularly cold tonight, scanned the crowded room methodically. The mingled scents of wolfsbane wine, venison, and dozens of pack members hit me as I moved through the throng. But I was searching for just one - the

(Vivian's POV)I felt eyes boring into my back as I turned my head toward the source of the voice. A wolf sitting near the back quickly called out, "Alpha's Mate," before ducking his head. The film had just ended, and the atmosphere in the room had shifted dramatically. Wolves who had barely acknowledged my existence before were now looking at me with something akin to respect in their eyes. The screen had shown moments from the past three years—instances where I'd performed emergency healing rituals in the field, treated silver poisoning cases, all while battling my own depression.Phoebe stirred uncomfortably within me at the sudden attention. I wasn't used to being the center of focus in any room, especially not one filled with high-ranking wolves."Healer Bennett," a beta wolf from an allied pack approached, his scent respectful as he bowed his head slightly. "I'd be honored if you would attend our territory exhibition next full moon.""The Northern Council would value your in

(Vivian's POV)The entire room fell into an uneasy silence as Sylvan's face appeared on the large screen. I felt my heart skip a beat, Phoebe whimpering softly within me. This was what Lucas had planned all along – not to court Emma, but to make me watch whatever this video was.Everyone around us grew quiet, their eyes shifting between the screen and my face. On the video, Sylvan was looking directly at the camera with those piercing ice-blue eyes that had once made my knees weak."What are you doing?" Sylvan's recorded voice asked, his eyebrow raising as his gaze swept toward someone off-camera.Lucas's voice came from behind the camera: "Just sit down and relax. This won't take long."I watched as Lucas pushed Sylvan onto a black leather sofa in what appeared to be a studio setting. The lighting was professional, making Sylvan's sharp features even more striking. Despite being caught off guard, he maintained his usual composure, settling into the sofa with natural grace."I do
