As soon as I finished speaking, an angry slap came down hard.

"I wronged you? I spent five years on you. Do you really think those worthless gifts you gave me could make up for five years of my youth? You know I'm an Alpha—do you have any idea how valuable my feelings and time are? Can someone like you even understand?"

Damon's face flushed red with rage. Ivory beside him laughed like she was watching a good show.

"Damon, didn't I tell you? This type of person never repents. You wanted to save her some face, but she just took advantage of your kindness."

"She needs to be taught a proper lesson. Once she's scared enough and realizes her mistakes, she'll naturally apologize."

Ivory leaned her face close to mine and spoke word by word:

"You filial daughter, your apology alone isn't enough. Now I want you to drag your con-artist father out here to apologize to my Damon too. Don't wait for me to send someone to fetch him. If things get ugly, an apology won't be enough to solve it."

Damon smiled coldly:

"That's right. Since you're so shameless, I don't need to give you any face either."

"When you do something wrong, you need to admit it. Even if it's your father, even if he's an elder, there are no exceptions! I actually treated him sincerely once, never expecting he was scheming against me along with you. Truly like father, like daughter."

"I bet your father taught you to use pregnancy to control me, to make me completely devoted to you. Thought I'd be afraid of the child in your belly and have to give in to all your demands? Barely became my mate and already started demanding money!"

By this point, Damon's eyes had turned red.

"I always thought what we had was pure love, but reality is this kind of deception mixed with profit. And you still dare say you don't owe me anything?"

Grief and rage filled my heart. I could no longer control my fury. My wolf wanted to emerge. While trying to restrain it, I used all my strength to break free from the guards' hold and grabbed Ivory by the collar.

Curse me, hit me—I accepted it all. It was my fault for being a poor judge of character.

But my father had done nothing wrong. I wouldn't allow anyone to insult him.

I swung my claws blindly, nearly on the edge of losing control. My wolf was extremely angry, trying to break free.

The guards quickly reacted and slammed me hard to the ground. I felt dizzy, and my wolf grew weak, no longer trying to emerge.

I tried to get up, but accidentally knocked over the cabinet. The paper bag containing Dad's memorial photo, medical records, and hospital bills spilled across the floor.

The memorial photo crashed heavily to the ground, cracking with spider web fractures.

Medical records and payment receipts scattered everywhere, covering the floor.

Everyone froze, especially Damon.

He stared at the mess on the ground, muttering to himself:

"This... this can't be possible... Ivory investigated. Your father was clearly faking his illness. How could there be hospital documents and a memorial photo?"

He looked at me in a daze, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.

"How... how could this be?"
