I wasn't even angry anymore. I just felt sad and ridiculous.

I picked up the bank card. The money inside was what my father had saved his entire life. It belonged to him, and I should take it back.

When I bent down to get the card, Damon snorted dismissively, as if my actions disgusted him.

I ignored him, pocketed the card, and started packing my belongings.

Five hundred thousand dollars. Enough to arrange a proper burial site for Dad.

Thinking about it made my nose sting with tears.

I'd never been one to cry easily. I didn't cry while taking care of Dad. I didn't cry when he died.

Even up until now, I kept thinking that if I just tried harder, maybe everything could still turn around.

But pain always comes with delayed realization. Only now was I gradually accepting the reality that Dad had left me forever.

Tears slid down my cheeks slowly. My hands shook uncontrollably as I packed, but then suddenly the doorbell rang.

Damon went to answer it, and I looked over too.

The visitor was very familiar—it was the same girl who'd been selecting gemstones at the luxury store.

She smiled as she looked at Damon.

"Damon, I was worried she'd cling to you and refuse to let go, so I came specially to protect you. These scheming Omegas can be very hard to shake off. You got the agreement signed, right? I'm here to take you home."

Damon's expression immediately softened considerably.

"You're so thoughtful."

The woman smiled down at her feet, then turned her gaze to me.

"What a pleasure to meet you. Damon mentions you often. I thought you might be different from other lower-class people, but turns out you're just a clumsy liar with bad acting skills. Now that you've gotten your money back, you don't need to keep pretending. Why don't you bring your father back to life? Though I'm afraid if you say too many unlucky things, they might actually come true."

Her mocking tone and disdainful look made the anger I'd been suppressing impossible to control any longer.

She could insult me all she wanted, but talking about my father? I couldn't tolerate that.

Almost instinctively, I reached out to slap her. Damon roared in fury, but that little white flower was already sprawled on the ground several feet away.

"Sage, are you insane? Hit a nerve, did she? Do you know who you're standing in front of?"

Did it matter who she was to me now? I had nothing left to lose.

I ignored his threats. My hand had somehow shifted into wolf claws. I teleported over, yanked the woman up, and gave her another vicious slap.

But before I could vent completely, several men in black suits suddenly burst through the door and pinned me to the ground.

The woman climbed up awkwardly and threw herself crying into Damon's arms.

"Damon, I was just kindly trying to reason with her, but she attacked me! I already recorded evidence of her hitting me with a memory stone. I'm going to demand the Wolf Council punish her!"

I was forced to kneel on the ground, unable to move an inch, could only glare at her through gritted teeth.

She pulled out a memory stone hidden in her collar and gave me a sinister smile.

"She didn't just deceive your feelings—she even concealed her true identity. She's clearly not an Omega at all! She disguised herself to get close to you, definitely with ill intentions! Good thing we've been prepared all along!"

Damon looked at me with a dark expression, gently patted my face, then raised his hand and struck hard.

The pain hit as expected—an especially forceful slap that made tears shoot from my eyes.

A flash of reluctance crossed his eyes, but when he looked at me, there was nothing but disappointment.

"I never thought we'd come to this. You almost passed my test, but you exposed yourself at the last moment. I didn't expect you to hide even your wolf nature from me. Maybe you never had genuine feelings for me at all."

"After five years together, I did truly love you. This slap is just paying back what you did to Ivory. Let's part on good terms. You and I were never meant to be on the same path."

The restrained woman still seemed unsatisfied.

"Damon, you're just too soft-hearted. That's why this gold-digger could play you for a fool. She even pretended to be an Omega to get close to you. Who knows if she's a spy sent by another pack, deliberately trying to disrupt our wolf community? You made so many efforts to get the pack to accept an Omega as our Luna."

Damon looked down at me from above, his eyes full of pity, as if he felt sorry for me.

But during these five years we'd been together, we'd both been sincere with each other. I'd even given more—time, energy, money. I'd given him everything I could. Meanwhile, he'd never given me a single gift.

Maybe that was part of his "test" too, but honestly speaking, I didn't owe him anything.

I spoke coldly to Damon:

"Is it fun to toy with someone's genuine feelings? In this relationship, I never wronged you. Maybe I wasn't good enough for you, but you have no right to insult my feelings."

"From beginning to end, you're the only one who wronged me."

The Elder's voice trembled, and I saw his composure finally crack. This proud, powerful man was breaking apart right in front of me.Honestly, following my heart, I really wanted to refuse him. Every instinct screamed at me to walk away and never look back.Damon and I had irreconcilable hatred between us. His life or death should mean nothing to me anymore. He had chosen Ivory over me, had forced me to abort our child, had let my father die while he played his sick games. But the refusal stuck in my throat and wouldn't come out. I could only see him in that hospital bed—this broken, fragile version of the man who had once been my whole world. He was thin as a skeleton, pale as paper, with no trace of the vibrant life I remembered. This version of him was so different from my memories.I couldn't forget that cheerful, sunny boy who used to bring me wildflowers. The one who would shift into his wolf form just to make me laugh when I was sad. But I also couldn't forget the demon who cal

Three months later, the Alpha's father came looking for me.By then, I had slowly adapted to my new life in the Moonstone Pack. My warrior training was going well, and for the first time in months, I could sleep without nightmares.I was coming back from morning patrol when I saw the black SUV parked outside my quarters. My wolf immediately went on alert. Only one person would dare show up here unannounced.Elder Blackwood stepped out of the vehicle. His usually commanding presence seemed diminished, his shoulders slumped with exhaustion I'd never seen before. His gaze was particularly sharp when it met mine, but there was something else there too. Desperation."Sage," he said, his voice rougher than I remembered. "We need to talk."I crossed my arms, staying exactly where I was. "If this is about pack politics or alliances, you're talking to the wrong person. I'm not a Luna anymore."Elder Blackwood's jaw tightened. "My son became like this because of you. I've investigated everything

The power felt strange but welcome. For the first time in months, I felt like I could protect myself. The dusty old cabin was filled with traces of Dad's life. His reading glasses on the kitchen table. His favorite coffee mug. The quilt he'd been knitting for my future children.I finally couldn't hold back and broke down crying here. All the grief I'd been holding in, all the rage and pain and overwhelming loss—it poured out of me in waves that left me gasping.I always wanted to be dignified in love, to owe nothing and be owed nothing. But I had failed the person who loved me most and worried about me most in this world.I spent three days in a fog of grief, barely eating, barely sleeping. On the fourth day, I heard someone stumbling through the forest toward my cabin.Damon appeared at my door, and I barely recognized him.His eyes were so swollen they were nearly shut, his face gaunt and shadowed with several days' worth of stubble. He looked like he hadn't slept or eaten since I'd

Damon took my phone with shaking hands and checked it several times over. His face went through a series of emotions—disbelief, horror, then something that looked like physical pain. Not just the income records, but also the hospital payment records. Every late-night shift at the jewelry store. Every desperate loan I'd taken out. Every medical bill that had crushed my spirit a little more.Every transaction, every payment had clear documentation with dates and times that perfectly matched my father's treatment schedule."This can't be real," he whispered, his voice breaking. "These dates... they're all real."I watched him scroll through the records, seeing the exact moment reality hit him. His face went white as he read the final hospital bill—the one marked "Patient Deceased."Seeing the situation turning against her, Ivory rushed over to snatch the phone away."Don't look at those fake records!" she screamed. "She probably made them all up!"But Damon stepped back and held the phone

Damon seemed to lose all his strength and crashed heavily to the ground.Seeing that the situation was turning against her, Ivory actually started clapping and laughing."What an improved performance! Even I was moved watching it. Who knew that someone who pretended to be an Omega for so many years actually had acting talent? Even at this point, you still won't give up your Luna position, will you?"But Damon roared at her furiously:"Get out! Whether it's real or fake, I'll investigate myself. Was it really Dad who pushed me away that day?"Suddenly scolded, Ivory's face showed grievance, but when she looked at me, her eyes couldn't hide her hatred."Damon, you believe her now? Have you forgotten those photos I took for you back then?"Damon seemed to hear something important and looked at me with renewed suspicion.Seeing Damon's attitude change, Ivory gained more confidence."Right after her abortion, she was shopping at luxury stores with other men, selecting jewelry. I have photog

"Sage, explain this clearly. These are fake props, right? You're still trying to fool me, trying to deceive me by creating these things to scare me. It's all fake, isn't it?"I had no mood to deal with his breakdown. I carefully picked up Dad's memorial photo. After gathering all the scattered documents, I looked at the photo in my hands. In it, Dad was smiling so gently.Damon kept questioning me:"Answer me! Stop acting in front of me. Uncle was perfectly healthy before you got pregnant. How could he suddenly fall sick right after our mating ceremony? I won't believe you. Stop pretending in front of me!"He repeated his thoughts, but his actions were clearly panicked. On the other side, his little white flower Ivory was also uncomfortable."Damon, don't believe her. Clever liars are always this thorough, creating these scary props. How unlucky! Isn't she afraid of karma? She has no bottom line when it comes to money!""Sage, stop pretending. The money's already been returned to you.
