I handled my mother's funeral arrangements alone, returning home with a hollow heart to pack my belongings before leaving Stormfang Pack forever. The Alpha of the Northern Shadow Pack had promised to appoint me as their Head Healer if I joined them.

This had always been my dream, but Dominic had insisted I should be content as his Luna, staying quietly by his side.

"What are you doing so intently that you didn't even notice me come in?"

My mate Dominic had just returned from outside, his nose reddened from the cold.

When he spotted me packing my suitcase, his slightly upturned lips flattened and his brows furrowed.

"What's with all the packing? Planning to run away?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe. "Didn't I explain that Sylvia's family has ancient werewolf bloodlines? Pretending to bond with her gives me more leverage in the Alpha Council to compete for Alpha King. The mating ceremony was just for show—to increase my influence. None of it is real. You're my true mate, you know that."

I kept my eyes down, continuing to fold my clothes with an icy expression.

He rubbed his cold fingertips together, studying me.

Before, I would have eagerly welcomed him home, prepared his slippers, drawn his bath at the perfect temperature, and cooked his favorite meal.

But today, I remained distant and cold.

He reached out and cupped my face, forcing me to look at him. The chill from his hands made me flinch.

"Grace, are you really that jealous?" he scoffed. "Think about it—there were dozens of pack members watching. If they discovered the truth, my authority as Alpha would be ruined!"

I gave a bitter smile.

To him, I was nothing but a hidden plaything, which explained why he'd never publicly acknowledged me as his Luna.

I pushed his hands away, but he persisted, tilting my chin upward with his icy fingers. His eyes narrowed as he examined the red burn marks still visible on my face.

"Those guards must have a death wish, hurting my Grace like this," he said with feigned concern. "I'll punish them personally."

Here we go again. In the past, no matter how angry I was, I'd forgive him the moment he sweet-talked me, following him blindly with unwavering devotion.

Not this time.

Five days ago at his engagement party, Dominic's Beta guards—following his direct orders—drove me away from the mating ceremony grounds with blazing torches. My wolf couldn't escape fast enough, and the flames burned me severely.

"Look at that omega trying to be a Luna," they had jeered. "Everyone knows Mr. Dominic and Miss Sylvia are the perfect Alpha and Luna pair. You're just some female with unknown lineage throwing yourself at him for his Alpha status. Have you no shame?"

Pack members had pointed and laughed, accusing me of being a gold-digger attempting to ruin the relationship between the Alpha and his true mate.

My dignity had been completely shattered.

Coming back to the present, Dominic noticed I was still upset and played his trump card.

He tossed two common healing herbs from near the doorway onto the bed beside me.

"I heard your mother was injured in battle. I've been too busy with pack matters to visit her, but Sylvia thoughtfully prepared these healing herbs for you. Take them. Sylvia is so understanding—you should learn from her how to be a gracious Luna."

My mother, the only family I had left in this world, had desperately wanted to attend my mating ceremony. She had longed to witness my happiness firsthand.

Instead, all she received was news of Dominic's grand mating ceremony with another woman.

That day, while Dominic was hosting his extravagant ceremony, he'd reassigned most of the border warriors to maintain order at the event. Rogue wolves, learning of this vulnerability, launched a massive attack on Stormfang Pack territory.

My mother was hastily sent to the frontlines to fight these rogues. She was struck by a silver arrow and left clinging to life.

As a healer, I knew that with the energy from two high-grade healing crystals—the very ones I'd purchased—the silver poison could have been neutralized, restoring my mother's healing abilities and saving her life.

I had gone to the luxurious hotel where Dominic and Sylvia were holding their ceremony, begging desperately for help, only to be accused of being a gold-digger.

Remembering how my mother's wolf had grown cold beneath my hands, my heart twisted in agony, and my eyes instantly welled with tears.

I ignored the healing herbs he'd tossed beside me and said coldly:

"Dominic, we should—"

Break our bond. The words caught in my throat before I could finish.

Dominic interrupted me: "Enough. Sylvia and I have already held our mating ceremony. To avoid suspicion, I'll be moving her into our house. Reporters will be coming to cover the story, so you should move out and stay with your mother for now. You two can enjoy the Full Moon Festival together." He glanced at me with a smirk. "You're probably running low on cash, aren't you?"

He tapped his phone screen a few times and transferred money to my account.

"Here's 100 dollars as a festival allowance. No need to pay it back."

How laughable. For seven years, he had never publicly acknowledged our mate bond. I was only allowed in the pack house as his "private healer."

Yet now he planned to welcome Sylvia home with great fanfare and ceremony.

I had originally thought that once Sylvia took Dominic back, his interest in me would fade quickly. Once he got used to my absence, he would stop pursuing me.Who knew he would completely abandon Stormfang Pack to settle in Northern Shadow Pack, "coincidentally" running into me every day.Sylvia even brought him hot coffee to warm his hands. They had become a bizarre spectacle on our streets.Today was even more ridiculous—a stretch Lincoln was parked downstairs. The elder had actually come himself. And Dominic stubbornly refused to leave.Passersby kept stopping to stare at the drama.Ada had officially inherited leadership of Northern Shadow Pack. Seeing this scene, she laughed with amusement and asked me to handle it before it damaged the pack's reputation.I was speechless.I went downstairs and walked up to Dominic. The winter wind was biting. Dominic pushed his father away, rubbing his freezing fingers together as he asked me hopefully:"Grace, have you forgiven me?"I simply sai

Ada smiled and asked me to host Dominic.I frowned deeply, asking Dominic what exactly he was here for.Dominic smiled slightly and pushed a contract toward me.I said impatiently:"This isn't my responsibility."Dominic laughed, shoving a pen into my hand like he was showing off some great achievement. His voice dropped to an intimate whisper:"Grace, look at it carefully."I glanced up and froze in place. It was actually an agreement drafted by Dominic, stating that the heir to Stormfang Pack must be a child born between him and me. This was equivalent to handing over the entire Stormfang Pack to me.I shot up from my chair.Dominic smiled—a smile that made my skin crawl. He embraced me, looking blissfully happy:"You don't know how disgusting it was, pretending to be married to Sylvia these past six months just to completely overthrow my father! Grace, now I'm offering you the entire pack. Do you finally understand my true feelings?"I thought Dominic had completely lost his mind.I

His face was flushed red from running, his expensive suit wrinkled and disheveled.Even in the depths of winter, cold air radiated from his body, but his features remained strikingly handsome. The face I'd once never tired of looking at now made my stomach turn as he held me.I frowned and pushed him away, keeping my voice low:"Dominic, get a grip. You have a new mate, a career. Stop this nonsense."Dominic was completely consumed by adrenaline, clinging to me like an octopus as he pleaded:"I won't! Grace, I don't want Sylvia, I don't want the Alpha position, and I don't want to be Alpha King! Let's elope together, go somewhere my father can't find us!"Onlookers who didn't know better assumed we were loving mates about to be separated, smiling knowingly:"Young lady, your mate clearly can't bear to lose you. Why not take him with you?""Exactly! Career is important, but so is love. Good men like this are rare these days!"Hearing this, Dominic's ears turned red as his voice dropped

I silently counted the zeros twice to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.Ten million dollars—more money than most people saw in a lifetime. If only my mother could have gotten even a fraction of this when she was dying from silver poisoning. If only Dominic had cared enough to help when it mattered. But it was far too late for regrets now.Dominic stood slumped against the far wall, his eyes growing dimmer by the second. He looked like someone had drained all the life out of him, leaving behind only an empty shell. But I felt nothing looking at his pain.I picked up the check, tore it cleanly in half, and placed both pieces on the table."Elder," I said, my voice steady and clear, "that's not necessary. I'm already prepared to go to Northern Shadow Pack. I'm leaving today and will never return to bother your family again."The elder's eyebrows rose in genuine surprise. He had clearly expected me to grab the money and run like the gold-digger he believed me to be.But he recovered quickl

I heard the sickening crack of Dominic's knee hitting the marble floor. He clutched his leg, his face draining to a deathly pale color as sweat beaded on his forehead. But despite the obvious agony, he didn't dare utter even a whimper of protest. When the elder spoke, his voice didn't just thunder—it shook the very foundations of the building."Dominic, have you completely lost your mind?""You came crawling to me six months ago, tears streaming down your face like a pathetic child! Threatening to kill yourself if I didn't bring Sylvia back to Stormfang Pack!"My blood turned to ice water in my veins.Suicide threats? Six months ago? That was right around the time Dominic had started acting strange, distant. When he'd begun working late every night and avoiding my eyes during dinner."You begged me on your knees," the elder continued, his voice rising with each revelation, "pleading like a lovesick teenager to make her your mate!""Now you've gotten exactly what you wanted," the elder

The elder's harsh expression softened instantly, like ice melting under spring sunshine. He smiled at her with genuine warmth—the kind of smile he'd never once directed at me."When I called earlier, I could tell Dominic was agitated," he explained, patting her hand indulgently. "I thought something had gone wrong with your appointment as Chief Healer, so naturally I had to come check on my favorite children."Dominic immediately perked up, sensing an opportunity to get back in his father's good graces."Dad!" he exclaimed, grinning like an eager puppy. "I knew you cared about me the most!"I watched this family reunion with detached amusement.Sylvia was deliberately displaying her closeness to the elder, marking her territory and asserting her dominance. She wanted everyone—especially me—to understand exactly where she stood in the pack hierarchy. She was the chosen daughter-in-law, the future of Stormfang Pack.I was nobody. The surrounding wolves had completely forgotten about me,
