Three Days of Possible Happiness

Alpha Blade POV

My eyes went to the wrist watch on my hand and I couldn’t help but notice that Emily was forty minutes late.

A pint of beer was dropped on my table and when I looked up, my eyes met the stern eyes of the old lady that owned the coffee shop.

“You shouldn’t have come here, Blade.” She said. “It’s too risky.”

She was right, coming here or even replying Emily’s text was clearly dangerous but I really wanted to see her, to watch her eyes twinkle again and listen to her rant about the weather or explain the facial expressions of people around. She was quite the company and right now, that was something I needed.

“I know but I stupidly trust her,” I said in a downcast tone.

The old lady looked deep into my eyes as though she wanted to pry out information from me and then at last, she exhaled. “I have never known you to be such a lover boy.”
