A Nerve-Wrecking Day

Emily’s POV

My heart was pacing so fast that I could hear it over Mum and Dad’s discussion.

I took in deep breaths, drank two full bottles of water, attempted to meditate but yet nothing seemed to calm me down. My hands still trembled and I couldn’t help the heaviness of my breath.

We were at the packhouse already and my parents were talking to other senior werewolves.

I jerked back, yelping in fright when my mother touched my arm, drawing me back to reality.

“Are you okay?” Mum and Dad asked chorally with genuine concern.

Other senior wolves didn’t look bothered at all as they all wore mean smirks and scowls on their faces, expressing their undisguised disdain towards me.

They all knew me as a malicious and mischievous kid who never went by the rules and who was prone to crimes and other silly shenanigans. Although they never spoke their mind to my own hearing—probably because they were scared of offending Alpha Dexter—I knew about their ill opinions
