We were in public, so none of the guys was able to shift. But as we drove on the road, I could see Wolves running on the sides of the car- but they were in the area that was covered by trees."I don't think this is a good idea," Jake said, his voice sounding strained."It's not. I'm just driving with you until you reach the end of the town. Then I'm getting out and you can be on your way. They won't follow you," I told him."Oh, I'm sure following me isn't what they are interested in," Jake said, pressing more on the gas.We were already hitting 90, in an area that said 45. I wasn't exactly worried about how fast we were going, but by the fact that the faster we went, the closer all of them seemed to get to us.A sleek white sports car suddenly appeared behind us. After a closer look at the driver, a smile tugged on my lips, which Jake noticed."May I know what you're so happy about?" He asked."Dylan's behind us," I told him, pointing at the rearview mirror."And that's supposed to b
"What's wrong?" Dylan asked, as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I placed my hands on his chest, and stared up to look at him."Well, Blake's leaving tomorrow. I'm going to miss him," I confessed."Should I be worried about that?" Dylan asked, raising an eyebrow.I chuckled at his question, loving that fact that Dylan and Blake now seemed to get along."No, you shouldn't worry about that. You should worry about Alpha Nicolas, and at least consider mine and Jake's proposition," I replied. My words caused him to sigh, and he let go of me."I can protect you. We don't need to be sneaky about the situation. I'm not scared of Nicolas, or Jackson," he said, as he stood a few steps away from me."If a fight is what Nicolas wants, then a fight is what he will get. Maybe I agree that Jake and you have a good plan going. But I'm not sure how that will make our pack look.""So you would rather risk us than look weak?" I asked, amused by his explanation."I'm not risking anything. This war is
So, like I had done just yesterday- I relied on other ways to get to leave the house."Where are you going?" Dylan asked me, as I walked to the door."I'm thirsty," I replied, and closed the door behind me after I was out.I walked to the kitchen, and on my way I spotted Eric walking into the mansion."Hey Leila," he waved at me."Hey Eric," I waved back, and offered him a smile.I continued on my way to the kitchen, with Eric following after me."Where's John?" I asked him, as I opened the door to the fridge."He left with Jace. It's his turn for a break, and they left to buy some things for the barbecue later tonight," Eric replied.I offered him a coke, which he happily accepted."That sounds fun. I didn't know there was going to be a barbecue," I told him, as I opened my can of coke. After taking a swig from it, I felt the back of my throat burning- in a good way. It had been a while since I'd drank coke, and Dylan didn't have Dr. Pepper- which was my favorite."It was unplanned.
"How did they get so deep into our lands?" John asked, sounding guarded. We were still standing in the same spot. Jace was holding my hand in a reassuring way. I was sure all three of them could hear how fast my heart was beating."Everyone must be distracted with the barbecue. Hold on-" Jace said, before going still.I knew he was probably communicating with Dylan through his mind link. Jace's hand tightened around mine, and I didn't know whether to take it as a good sign or not."Dylan's coming over here. He said not to make a move," Jace informed us. I didn't know how many Rogues there was, or what they wanted- but I knew nothing good would come out of this.'Leila, are you okay? Did anything happen to you?' Dylan asked me through our mind link.'I'm okay. Jace, Eric, and John are here with me,' I told him, hoping my jumbled up mind didn't let Dylan see just how worried I felt.Something told me the Rogues were here because of me, and I couldn't help but feel guilty. Once again I w
They all stopped what they were doing and looked at me and then at Dylan.I turned to face Dylan as well, wondering if he would go against my order.Dylan nodded toward the men, and slowly, they released the Rogues."Thank you Luna," the Rogue said, bowing his head in my direction."What is your name?" I asked him, and then turned to look around at the other three Rogues."My name is Adam. This Peter," he pointed to the first guy who had spoken to me at the parking lot."That's Chris, and he's Robert," he finished saying. Chris and Robert had not said a word since we had met them. They seemed on the quiet side, but I could tell they were alert of their surroundings."Nice to meet you. I'm Leila, Luna of Midnight Moon. This is Dylan, my Alpha," I told them, as I gave Dylan's hand a squeeze. The guys each nodded at me, and then at Dylan. They seemed more at ease, and I thought it was probably progress- considering they were in a room full of Wolves that wanted to kill them."We won't re
The living room was really quiet when we went back. Jace gave me a soft smile and nodded once at me, before directing his gaze back to the Rogues."If you want to speak with Liam and make sure he's fine, you can do that. But I'm not letting him go. Since he's staying, you don't really have to give us any information." I thought it was a good deal. I was confident in us. Maybe Dylan was right. We didn't need any extra information. I found comfort in knowing that Blake was also on our side.Peter, Adam, Chris, and Robert looked at each other a few moments before saying anything."I'll go see him. Adam will tell you what we heard," Robert spoke for the first time.Jace nodded toward three of the guys from the pack who were standing behind the Rogues. They started walking behind Robert, as he stepped out of the living room."You don't have to say anything. I'm letting you go free either way," Dylan informed the guys."It's alright. I think you should really know what we have to tell you,
"What are you thinking about?" Dylan asked, as he wrapped his arm around my waist from behind me."Just, things," I replied, not really having an answer for him.He started trailing kisses on my neck, while running his hand over my stomach soothingly.I closed my eyes, loving the electric feeling that was coursing through my body from his touch.I turned to face him, finding his eyes looking at me intensely. I ran my hand on the side of his face, knowing what would happen next and feeling excited about it.It was what we both needed. A release from the stressful days we'd been having. His hands moved me closer to him, pressing me to his chest. I closed the distance, kissing his expectant lips.Just like that, all of my worries about the day, the Rogues, and my pack, were put behind me- as I let my need for Dylan take over.I woke up the next day to an empty bed. Dylan was gone, and I didn't hear him around the room or in the bathroom.I took my time getting ready for the day. If anyth
I went to the closet, and dug for a wallet that I'd bought a few weeks ago. Dylan was still downstairs, so that allowed me time to fix things without attracting attention.Dylan never really hid his money whenever he was around me. I never doubted he was wealthy- his mansion simply costing more than six figures. But whenever he needed a big amount of money for anything and couldn't wait to get it from the bank, he would get it from several stashes he had around the house.Dylan kept a load of money on the bottom drawer we had in the closet. As I opened it, I saw plenty of wads with bills of either 100s or 20s. I didn't exactly know how much money was in there, but it was obvious it was a lot.The drawer was full to the top with money, and only a few wads were missing. I grabbed three packs of 100s, and tightly shoved them inside the wallet as best as I could.I was closing the drawer, when I heard the door to our room open.My heart started beating faster, and I threw the wallet to t
