Chapter 40

Dylan's POV

I had just gotten home after making plans with Blake. Whether Nicolas and Jackson came to attack me or not, Blake and I both agreed that we needed to make sure they knew Leila was never going back with them.

Even though Leila didn't say it out loud, I knew she was never actually in peace. She feared Nicolas would come after her. I wanted her to be okay, and not just physically. I didn't want her worried or stressed out.

Jace and I walked into my office. I had invited Blake for dinner, knowing Leila would want that.

"Have you talked to Nicolas?" Jace asked, sitting down on the chair across from my desk.

"Not yet. The bastard hasn't called me. He knows better than that," I told Jace, shuffling the things on my desk.

Work had been piling up, but Jace and I were trying to get everything in order. I didn't like being messy, and all these distractions were slowing me down.

I had asked John earlier to help me with most of it, and he'd been doing a great job.

"Where did Leila go?"
