Chapter 11

Julisa's POV

"Oh I almost forgot." Alex says as I was turning to walk away. I stop and look back at him. Alex handed me a huge wad of cash. "This is all your savings and some of mine." He says. I wrap him in one last hug. Whispering into his ear. "Thank you. I love you." Alex wipes a few tears that have escaped my eyes and gives me a firm nod and final squeeze of the shoulder. Turns and starts walking away.

I face Jason and his eyes go wide in surprise once seeing my battered face. He pulls me in too a hug. "I'm so sorry. I failed you!" He sobs out. I rub his back. "Shhhhhh. There's nothing you could have done. You left for training the day after you saw. What could you have done?" Jason just shakes his head and clears his throat. "I don't know but more than what I did."

I shake my head at him."You're helping me now." Jason gives me a sad smile and takes my hand and leads me to the border edge. "Go as far as you can tonight. There is a village about 6 miles from here if you feel too
