The next morning, Kieran dragged me to the pack's most luxurious hotel, claiming he was throwing me a makeup birthday party.

Within thirty minutes, the media was buzzing with the story. Shadow Pack's Alpha had spent one million dollars on a lavish celebration for his mate. Moonlight roses worth a thousand dollars each covered every surface of the hotel.

The Alpha had even commissioned the pack's witch to create a special healing elixir from century-old herbs—a miraculous potion that could cure any injury or illness. One injection would restore the body to perfect health.

By gifting this priceless elixir to his mate, the Alpha was giving her a second life, declaring to the world that Aria was his one and only love.

Kieran held me close, his eyes full of adoration as he whispered his apology. "Aria, I'm so sorry. I commissioned the witch six months ago, but even rushing, your gift was still a day late."

He carefully placed the ornate box containing the elixir in my hands, his gaze tender. "You're the love of my life. This potion is meant to save your life, but I hope you'll never need to use it."

The box gleamed under the lights, drawing envious stares from everyone present.

"I heard Alpha personally oversaw everything from harvesting the herbs to brewing the potion. A unique gift, a unique gesture, unique love—truly a 'true mate' bond."

"Remember when you doubted this relationship? You said Alpha was just infatuated, that they weren't suited for each other, that she'd get hurt? Look at them now—with real love, nothing else matters."

"I'm so jealous of Mrs. Blackwood. Having an Alpha whose world revolves around her. Unlike me—I spend every day dealing with my mate's mistresses."

Someone nudged her, nodding toward the entrance. "Speaking of mistresses, looks like one just walked in."

Everyone turned to look. Mrs. Blackwood smirked. "That one's not mine. My mate could never land someone that beautiful."

The crowd laughed, but no one noticed how pale I'd become.

Scarlett glided toward us in a slinky dress, completely ignoring me as she approached Kieran. She handed him a thermos container.

"Alpha, your old injury is acting up again. You haven't taken today's medicine yet. If you don't follow my treatment plan properly, there won't be a second healing elixir to save your life."

Her pointed words made Kieran freeze for several seconds before he awkwardly drained the container in one gulp.

Scarlett calmly took back the thermos. As she turned to leave, she made a show of adjusting her plunging neckline. The pack wives quickly noticed the ruby necklace at her throat.

"Oh, she's Shadow Pack's healer. But look at that ruby necklace—doesn't it look exactly like the healing stone Alpha Kieran bought at the auction?"

The speaker clapped a hand over her mouth too late. Everyone stared at Kieran and me in uncomfortable silence.

Scarlett smiled graciously. "Don't be silly. This is just a regular gemstone my boyfriend gave me. Nothing expensive—red is just my lucky color. I value the sentiment more than the cost. Though really, who could compete with Alpha's devotion? No gift compares to a life-saving elixir."

She paused at the door. "I won't keep you. I have a date tonight."

Kieran's voice carried clear displeasure. "Dr. White, in the future, please dress more appropriately when you come to see me. And don't comment on my relationship with my mate. You're not worthy."

His protective display quickly restored the party's cheerful atmosphere. But my heart had sunk to the ocean floor.

Standing close to Scarlett, I was the only one who could see the brilliant fire reflecting from the ruby at her throat.

My phone buzzed with new messages.

"He said this stone reminds him of my wolf's eyes. He was mesmerized the first time he saw them."

"I love it too. What about you, Luna?"

"The one and only life-saving elixir—want to bet whether there's really just one?"

The banquet ended abruptly. I locked myself in my room for many days, my mind spinning with everything that had happened.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Sebastian's face when he told me about that summer ten years ago. The boy who had truly saved me. The boy whose story Kieran had stolen.I knew that in this lifetime, I still owed Kieran a debt. But I also knew I could never repay it by sacrificing my own happiness. That evening, Sebastian came to take me to dinner. His gentle knock on my door made my heart skip."Evelyn, are you ready?"I opened the door to find him holding a bouquet of white roses. Not the red ones Kieran used to bring, but pure white ones that somehow felt more honest."You look beautiful," Sebastian said softly.I felt my cheeks warm. "You don't have to say that every time you see me.""I'm not saying it because I have to. I'm saying it because it's true."Before I could respond, Uncle Marcus appeared at the end of the hallway. His expression was dark and deter

The moment the door swung open, people rushed in like a flood. Some even held phones ready to record.I recognized several faces—Isabella's friends, some pack gossips, and a few people I didn't know but who clearly had cameras ready.Seeing the clothes scattered across the floor and the man lying with his back toward them, Isabella stepped forward with theatrical outrage."Evelyn!" she gasped, pointing at me accusingly. "I know you've grown wild living abroad, but this is home! Don't you know you need to protect your reputation?"Her voice carried just the right amount of shock and concern to sound convincing to outsiders."If Grandfather saw you like this, he'd faint from shock!"I laughed coldly inside. Such an elaborate production. Knowing she'd failed to have me killed, she wanted to destroy me socially instead."Sister," I said carefully, "this isn't what it looks like—""Isn't what it looks like?" Isabella's voice rose dramatically. "There are clothes everywhere! There's a man in

I was already in tears, my voice breaking as I spoke. "So you just watched from afar like that, holding onto a hope with almost no chance, wasting ten years of your life?"Sebastian reached out to cup my face gently, his thumb brushing away the tears streaming down my cheeks."Wasting?" Sebastian smiled, but his eyes held unprecedented determination. "Have you ever heard this saying? When a young man's heart stirs once, it stirs forever."His voice was soft but firm, each word carrying the weight of years."You're the mate the Moon Goddess chose for me. If it's not you, it won't be anyone else."I felt my breath catch. The intensity in his eyes was overwhelming."Sebastian, you could have had anyone. You're powerful, handsome, from the strongest pack. Any she-wolf would have been honored to be with you.""But I didn't want anyone else," he said simply. "For me, not a single second was wasted. Being able to stand here now and tell you I love you—that's the best reward these ten years co

With tears streaming down my face, I stared at Sebastian's earnest expression. My voice was barely a whisper."What you just said—is it all true?"Sebastian's eyes never left mine as he nodded slowly."Every word. I started loving you many, many years ago."He took a deep breath, as if preparing to bare his soul completely."That summer, I was twenty-two. You were my nephew's combat training instructor."I felt my breath catch. A distant memory flickered at the edge of my consciousness."Before you came along, my nephew had driven away five previous teachers," Sebastian continued, a slight smile touching his lips. "He was impossible. Spoiled, arrogant, refused to listen to anyone.""But with you..." Sebastian's voice grew soft with memory. "With you, everything changed. He adored you. Wouldn't let anyone say a single negative word about his instructor."My heart began to race as pieces of a forgotten puzzle started falling into place."I became curious," Sebastian admitted. "What kind

Kieran didn't know how he managed to walk out of that room. His legs felt like lead, each step a monumental effort. The man from ten years ago—it really had been Sebastian Cross. The truth crashed over him like a tidal wave, threatening to drown him in guilt and regret. He stumbled down the hotel corridor, his mind reeling with memories he'd tried so hard to bury. That day ten years ago played out in vivid detail behind his eyes.Back then, he'd seen me isolated from the group, struck in the head by a blood-crazed rogue wolf and knocked unconscious. Blood had been streaming down my face, and I'd looked so small and helpless lying there.A man with a similar build to his had rushed forward without hesitation. Kieran could still see it clearly now—the way the stranger had thrown himself between me and the silver blade, using his own chest to absorb the deadly blow.Even as the medical team carried him away on a stretcher, the wounded man had kept begging the healers to treat me first."P

In an instant, Sebastian's face flushed red all the way to his ears. He greedily kissed my soft lips but stopped before going any further. He couldn't take advantage of someone in distress.Just then, the doorbell rang—the doctor he'd called had arrived. The doctor administered a sedative, and I fell into deep sleep.Sebastian knelt beside the bed, gently tucking my scattered hair behind my ears.He reached out, tracing the outline of my face in the air. After all these years, this face still made his heart race.Remembering that kiss, Sebastian unconsciously touched his own lips, smiling foolishly to himself. My phone rang. It was Alpha Winters.Sebastian, worried it might be urgent, answered the call."Evelyn, where are you? Did something happen?"Sebastian replied awkwardly, "Uncle, Evelyn had too much to drink and is resting at a hotel now.""Don't worry, I'll take good care of her."Alpha Winters exhaled in relief. Heaven knew how worried he'd been when he saw the message I'd sent
