Chapter 13

AVA

I stare up at him, utterly gobsmacked.

"GET. OUT!" He sneers, knocking me out of my thoughts.

I jolt from the bed and run straight to the door. I didn't think, and just headed downstairs, shoving a couple of vases on the way. I didn't have time to turn back or pick it up. All I knew was I needed to run fast and get the hell out of there before he changes his mind or runs after me into the woods. Before I knew it, I was out of his house, running aimlessly into the forest.

Looking back, I noticed no one seems to be running after me. Guess he really kicked me out of his house, huh?

A small chuckle left my lips as I slowed down my steps. The only sound echoing in the forest is the clacking of my heels, and I needed to stop. These heels are killing me. I groan, stopping right in front of a big, old oak tree. I then catch my breath, turn sideways and lean my back against its trunk. I sigh. Defeated. Lost. And in pain.
