VALKERIE’S POV

‘Valkerie? What are you doing?’ my master, who I have been watching since the day she was born, whispered from the back of my mind, or rather, her mind. This is her body after all, and once we fulfilled the prophecy, this body will be mine no longer.

I sent her a feeling of reassurance. It’s something only dragons could do to their human counterparts.

She felt it, and retreated, giving me some space to focus on getting used to this body enough so I can move.

Turning my attention back to Zanicus, I met his penetrating gaze head on.

“I’ve missed you,” I said genuinely, knowing that it would be the first thing she would have said if Coraline really was here.

I know this is cruel, but it’s the only thing I could do.

I am the white dragon, and I have a role to finish. The prophecy is waiting for me to fulfill, yet here we are, stuck in this constant chase of cat and mouse all because Zanicus wouldn’t let go.
