CHAPTER TWO

'Traitor wolf'

I woke up the next morning, the sun rays hitting my exposed skin. I stretched as my eyes fluttered open, my body was still tingling from the previous night's activities. I still felt his touch, his lips, his kisses. They were etched in my skin.

I sat up and looked around, I found myself in the same spot that I had spent the night. But there was no sign of my mate. I couldn’t feel his presence or his scent. He was gone leaving me all alone.

I stood and padded over to the edge of the lake. My wolf growled as she watched the water. She sniffed it carefully, trying to pick up his scent. But there was nothing, no scent whatsoever, it was as though he was a ghost. I began walking back to my pack. As I walked down the narrow path that led to my home, I couldn’t stop thinking of my mate. Why did he leave me? Did he not want me anymore?

I had so many questions and zero answers. I didn’t even know his name or which pack he belonged to. All I knew was how he made me feel. How he made me feel so alive, so desired, so loved. How he had wrapped me in his strong arms and kissed me in ways I never knew could be possible. I wanted more of that. More of his naked body hovering over me, more of his kisses, his caresses.

I arrived home to find my mother cooking her favorite dish, venison. The aroma filled the house causing my wolf to whine with delight. I didn't even wait for my mother to place it on the table before I dug in, devouring every bite in my mouth.

"So how was last night?" My mother asked, giving her a little wink. "Did you find your mate?"

I almost choked on the food as my ears burned with embarrassment. Why did she have to bring that up? Especially during breakfast. I tried to cover my red ears with my hands but mother wasn’t fooled, as she continued laughing. My mother was a bit nosy.

I just rolled my eyes at her, mother was always a tease.

"You're impossible ma."

She merely smiled at me in reply as she placed her empty plate in the sink.

"But I really want to know if my baby girl is happy," she said as she started washing the dishes.

I sighed heavily and rubbed my temples before telling her what happened with the stranger. I told her about his scent, his eyes, his smile. About how I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I was even about to tell her how he had disappeared this morning when I heard a loud howl. My wolf jumped at the sound. It was the howl of our Alpha, Lucien Malfoy. The evil brute that pretended to be a saint. Lucien was actually the previous Alpha's beta but he challenged his Alpha's authority for the pack in a conclave to the death and he won. Well that happened before I was even born.

Lucien had tried several advances towards me but I never told anyone that, well except from my mother and my best friend Tasha and whenever I refused him he always looked for ways to punish me. I could never understand it but my mother seemed to have a much deeper hatred for the alpha, whenever I tried to ask her she never told me anything, but i knew that there was a deeper history between both of them.

"What's that?" I asked looking up at my mother who had worry in her eyes.

"A pack meeting and I don't think it's good news," mother replied frowning, she looked extremely worried and it got me terrified.

I nodded as I ran upstairs to change into a more appropriate dress before heading out to the town hall with my mother.

As soon as I got there I was greeted by two wolves I recognised. One of them was my friend Tasha. She was nineteen, but a Beta and the pack's best warrior. She still hasn't found her mate, and honestly Tasha wasn't the least excited about meeting him. Tasha was headstrong and wasn't really interested in the thought of finding a mate.

The other werewolf, whose name was Jekyll, I wasn't really a fan of. He was the Alpha's delta, a horrible one at that. He was a perverted, proud, cocky, rude and an arrogant jerk. He seemed to take everything that was thrown at him as some sort of personal attack, misusing his power as delta. My wolf didn’t seem too pleased at him either, simply put a man like Jekyll was a waste to humanity.

Jekyll grinned at me as soon as I stepped inside of the room. He bowed his head low and said something that sounded like "I bet she's the one." I looked at him puzzled. What the hell did he mean by that? Before I could say a word, the meeting had begun and I had to find somewhere to sit.

"Alright," Alpha Lucien said as he walked in. "I hope everyone has settled in. We've received an urgent message from the Elders."

"An urgent message? What could possibly be wrong!" someone yelled loudly from the audience.

"Shut up, Kail!" the Alpha growled as he shot the guy with an unamused look.

The whole crowd quietened instantly as the tension in the room grew. They were right to be worried, the elders were seen almost as gods in the werewolf world. They were the strongest and oldest werewolves alive. There were five elders as we were taught in werewolf school, the elders never really interfere with trivial werewolf affairs so it was unusual getting an urgent message from them. Whatever it was couldn't be good.

Everyone was waiting for the Alpha to finish his statement. They were all worried about whatever it was that the Elders might have called them here for. If the elders got involved it had to be very serious.

"Last night,” the Alpha began to speak again. "We realized that a member of the Midnight Pack entered our territory and mated with one of ours.”

The crowd gasped and restless murmuring soon filled the room as fear was evident in everyone's faces.

The Midnight Pack was a group of rogues which caused havoc and chaos amongst the packs in the forest. The midnight pack was an ancient myth we were taught to fear. They were known to be ruthless, cruel and bloodthirsty. They preyed on every living creature in the forest. No matter if that living creature was human or wolf. They killed everything they saw as if it was nothing. Their leader, Alpha Kaden was known to be the worst of the lot. A beast. A savage monster. He conquered packs, slaughtering everyone in it.

I remembered hearing rumors that he was responsible for the death of many innocent wolves. Many werewolves would go missing in the forests and pack borders after being attacked. There were stories of how he and his pack raided homes, killing all that dared to stand in his way, taking everything that he needed. No matter who the opposition may have been. If they didn't surrender, then Kaden slaughtered them.

"Who would do such an atrocity?" a red haired wolf yelled out furiously.

"The wolf should be sentenced to death. The pack must fight this traitor wolf. We must rid this land of her foul presence," another yelled out. I personally thought that death was a bit too extreme, it wasn't like it was the wolf's fault.

"Silence!!!" The Alpha bellowed out. "We don't know who the wolf is yet, all we know is that they were sighted near the lake making love at midnight."

My eyes grew wide as the realization slowly dawned upon me. The person I had met last night, my mate. The stranger I had mated with was a member of the Midnight Pack.

I was the traitor wolf!

"There is no doubt in my mind that this female must be dealt with. The elders have demanded that all female wolves that attended the mating feast must report to the council. We are to find her and bring her to justice. Any of those that refuse to comply, or fail to appear, will be put to death."

My head began to spin. Oh goddess, what the fuck did I get myself into.

Ava's Point Of ViewWe finally arrived in Switzerland. The city of Interlaken scenery is so lovely. I have never been anywhere apart from our pack in New Orleans, so I couldn't stop myself from gawking around like a tourist. We rode for like thirty minutes, and we arrived at Kaden's family safe house. a mansion that loomed majestically yet melancholically against the twilight sky. Despite its cracked pillars and peeling paint, there was a beauty to the place that clung stubbornly to its heritage. “Fucking hell! How long has it been? I surely didn't miss this place,” Krys muttered as we stepped inside, the echo of our footsteps swallowed by the silence. I stifled a cough, the musty scent of dust prickling my nostrils. The whole place was dusty and covered in cobwebs, years of neglect hung in the air like a shroud, a testament to the Delacourts’ absence.Kaden had spoken the truth—no one has really been here for an eternity. None of the Delacourts had arrived yet.“Hold on Ava," Kaden

She had insisted on an urgent meeting with Kaden and me, and an unsettling premonition gnawed at me—this had to be something about my unborn child. With each heartbeat, the weight of dread settled thickly in my chest. Krys’ purple eyes, usually so vibrant and bright, now flashed with erratic intensity of fear as she moved like a caged animal, the rhythm of her pulse matching her frenetic energy.“Come on, Krystabelle. What’s so urgent that it couldn't wait? You’re acting like you’ve just witnessed the end of the world,” Kaden remarked, his tone both teasing and concerned. But Krys didn’t pause or respond; she remained lost in her turmoil.I stepped forward and placed a steadying hand on her shoulder, forcing her to stop and meet my gaze. “Krys, what’s wrong? Everything is fine,” I murmured, my voice a tether to calmness.“Everything is anything but fine, Ava” she replied, her

Ava's Point Of View I turned for the doors instantly, and left the hall, walking into the cool refreshing midnight air. I moved into the woods, stripping naked and shifting into my wolf. I grabbed my dress with my sharp canines and darted into the woods, heading for Kaden and my secret place. I reached the magical scenery, there was a beautiful lake flowing peacefully and beautiful flowers in bloom all around. This was just the place I needed to get my mind off things.I shifted back to my human form, tossing my dress to the side of the lake. My lips stretched into a smile, loving the serenity of this special place and the quiet peace it gave. I moved closer to the lake, my eyes glazing over the tall shadow that stretched up like arrows into the sky.The fresh water looked like a beautiful puddle of blue ink, taking the reflection of the full moon hanging up in the sky. The starry night alone calmed my soul.I took a few tentative steps into the glorious luster of the water until it

I am a vampire, vampires can't give birth, but if it was possible for my mother maybe it was for me too. I mean think about it, my mother was a special breed of vampire, a Fecundi, with the special power to procreate, maybe I got some of her genes and let's not throw out the window that I am still a werewolf, which means I could defy nature and the vampire anatomy.I mean I haven't gotten any of the early symptoms of pregnancy but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel different these past few weeks. Krys was the only p
