CHAPTER 6

Ava's Point Of View

'Wolves that read minds'

I could feel the burning intensity in Kaden's kiss, my rogue alpha mate. I tried to push him off me but this was what I needed. I needed to feel the warmth of my mate, I needed his touch. I craved his kisses.

'No but he is a rogue! The beginning of all your misfortunes. He is the reason why you had to run away from home.' my better judgment tried to plead it's case. But my wolf was more than forgiving to our mate. Should I really forgive him?

"Come with me!" He says breaking off the kiss, leaving me panting hard.

"Let's go back to my pack. I'll protect you and I promise to make it up to you. If you are my mate Ava, then we belong together, that much is obvious." Kaden said holding my hands, his eyes screamed sincerity. I really wanted so badly to believe every word he was telling me.

But everything we werewolves have been taught ever since we were little pups were not to trust the words of rogues. They would say whatever they needed to say, they would lie to get what they wanted. The second they get a chance they would sink their claws into your back.

We were taught to believe that rogues were ruthless, merciless and evil to the core. And Kaden Matheson was the worst they got.

He was a monster and the most feared Alpha in the entire supernatural world. He held the most ruthless and destructive pack. They killed and destroyed every pack they came across. They were monsters! Kaden Matheson was the face of the devil!

"No! I don't want to come with you and I don't need your protection. You've done enough ruining my life. Goodbye Kaden." I said to him, clutching tight to my backpack. I couldn't identify the emotions on his face, he didn't seem angry, at the most he looked hurt. And it hurt my wolf too.

I turned around when I heard him say.

"I had a feeling you were going to say that." Kaden scoffed. Then I felt his strong arms clutch my neck in a choke hold, I could feel my vision suddenly get blurry.

My body felt weak, I couldn't stand so I fell back into his arms. I looked into his eyes.

"Sleep well, little wolf." That was the last thing I heard as my eyes closed shut.

"No, no. Get you fucking hands off me!" I screamed panting like crazy, waking up from my long nap.

I wasn't in the woods anymore. No, where I was looked nothing like my room back home.

I was in a grande room, a colorful one. I laid on a king size bed, there was a tall glass window frame which allowed the moonlight to shine in.

'Where the fuck was I?' My inner wolf, Lisa, asked, totally confused about the situation.

The doors were opened, letting in a tall figure.

"Oh great, you're finally awake. So how are you feeling?" The figure asked with a thick English accent prominent in his voice. He came closer to me. He was strikingly handsome, he was six foot tall with golden brown hair and a pair of golden eyes. They looked unreal.

"I feel like I just got ran over by a fucking rhino, what do you think Goldie?" I said, placing my hand on my head.

He just laughs. "You have a sense of humor, I like that. I think we will get along well." He says.

"Where's the rogue that knocked me out?" I asked him.

"Who? My brother Kaden? Yeah he is probably somewhere by himself sulking." He murmured.

Wait! Did He just say brother? So Kaden Matheson has a brother? I never knew that.

"You are his brother?" I had to ask to be sure. You couldn't blame me, all we really knew about Kaden was his ruthlessness and cruelty.

"Yeah, I'm Nikolas but you can just call me Kole. I'm Kaden's favorite younger brother. He doesn't really bring home lady friends, well except those he uses to blow off some steam." Kole said.

"I'm not his friend. I'm his m---" I was interrupted.

"You're his mate? That's Interesting." Kole figured. How did he know, was he able to read my mind. Well he couldn't, right? Werewolves shouldn't be able to read minds right? We were werewolves, not witches. This was insane. Let me guess, next I'll learn that there's disappearing werewolves?

"No I don't read thoughts, I am able to hear your thoughts. And you know your stuff, werewolves shouldn't be able to read minds but we are simply an upgrade darling." Kole's words were unbelievable, he left me with so many questions. He could read minds. What the hell was he? Was Kaden like him too? I need to get out of here.

"And so can my brother, so try not to think about anything that is going to piss him off, like trying to get out of here." Kole said with a wink, he was having lots of fun hearing my thoughts.

No! He can be reading my thoughts right now. I needed to block my thoughts. I place my hands over my head.

"That's not going to help. I can still hear your thoughts." The annoying rogue laughs literally hearing my thoughts, probably thinking I'm stupid. A loud growl left my stomach. My belly was trying to tell me that it was hungry.

"Okay, follow me, let's get you something to eat." He says, leading the way as I followed him.

Kole led me through the castle. Yes, they lived in a fucking huge castle, with about a zillion rooms to spare. It was unbelievable that a house could be this huge. We walk past some unfamiliar faces, all rogues. I could tell by their smell, that's not all I could tell. They all possessed a very powerful aura, one to match an alpha.

'Could they all be Alpha's?' Lisa thought but that would be impossible. Right? A pack of Alpha's was a completely bizarre thought.

We finally reached the kitchen. It was really big. I sat on one of the kitchen stools watching him.

"I think we still have some leftover pizzas." He says to himself. Finding a leftover pizza box.

He takes out the pizza and puts it in the microwave.

"Don't do that," I say automatically and Kole freezes.

"Why not?" Kole asks.

"Because it'll taste better if you put it in the toaster or oven. I know it will be quicker, but the microwave always makes pizza mushy." I explain, I know I sound like a total brat right now.

Kole snaps his fingers, "You actually are right. Thanks." He turns on the oven and places the pizza directly on the rack.

Spinach Alfredo.

I didn't care if it was still hot or not, I just took a piece and put the entire slice in my mouth.

"So I didn't get your name," Kole says, taking a bite off his own pizza.

"Ava," I blurt out, focusing back on my pizza.

'Quit stuffing your face with pizza, we need to see our mate.' my inner wolf said to me.

Yeah, right! We still needed to speak to him, so he let me go. I couldn't stay here and live among rogues.

"Where is Kaden?" I ask Kole, putting down my pizza.

"He just told me that he is out handling some business. Whatever that meant. But he will be around during our bonfire." Kole told me with a smile. He looked adorable, did I mention that. I don't know how he managed to look both handsome and cute at the same time.

"Bonfire? What's that?" I asked.

"It's kinda a traditional thing we do every night. See we 'monsters' know how to have fun sometimes." He explains, making me feel a bit bad. He didn't seem like a monster to me. He seemed like a cool guy that I would love to be friends with, under different circumstances.

"Aww… hearing you think that warms my cold rogue heart." Kole says, placing his hand on his chest.

"Shut up!" I laugh, shaking my head.

"And quit reading my thoughts." I told him.

"Sorry, it's just fun hearing everyone's dirty little thoughts. I can't help it." Kole replies.

"Please?" I say, hitting him with my best puppy dog eyes.

"Alright, alright. I'll stop but I'm not making any promises." Kole finally caves in.

"You really are persuasive." He says.

"Thank you!" I smile, victoriously.

A couple howls erupted outside, followed by the sounds of drums. Rogues were gathered, chattering outside.

"Ahh it already starting." Kole said, dropping his pizza. "Are you joining the party?"

"I'll just sit this one out." I told him, He stares at me a bit, as if observing me, before speaking.

"Ava don't be too harsh on my brother, although he may not know how to express it but he does love you, just give him a chance. He is just going through a lot right now, more than you could imagine. There isn't a lot of time left, he really needs you, his mate by his side." Kole said before leaving me alone in the kitchen with his words. What did he mean by 'there isn't a lot of time left'? What was actually going on?

Ava's Point Of ViewWe finally arrived in Switzerland. The city of Interlaken scenery is so lovely. I have never been anywhere apart from our pack in New Orleans, so I couldn't stop myself from gawking around like a tourist. We rode for like thirty minutes, and we arrived at Kaden's family safe house. a mansion that loomed majestically yet melancholically against the twilight sky. Despite its cracked pillars and peeling paint, there was a beauty to the place that clung stubbornly to its heritage. “Fucking hell! How long has it been? I surely didn't miss this place,” Krys muttered as we stepped inside, the echo of our footsteps swallowed by the silence. I stifled a cough, the musty scent of dust prickling my nostrils. The whole place was dusty and covered in cobwebs, years of neglect hung in the air like a shroud, a testament to the Delacourts’ absence.Kaden had spoken the truth—no one has really been here for an eternity. None of the Delacourts had arrived yet.“Hold on Ava," Kaden

Ava's Point of ViewThe dawn light filtered through the curtains as Krys paced the room, her anxiety palpable. She had insisted on an urgent meeting with Kaden and me, and an unsettling premonition gnawed at me—this had to be something about my unborn child. With each heartbeat, the weight of dread settled thickly in my chest. Krys’ purple eyes, usually so vibrant and bright, now flashed with erratic intensity of fear as she moved like a caged animal, the rhythm of her pulse matching her frenetic energy.“Come on, Krystabelle. What’s so urgent that it couldn't wait? You’re acting like you’ve just witnessed the end of the world,” Kaden remarked, his tone both teasing and concerned. But Krys didn’t pause or respond; she remained lost in her turmoil.I stepped forward and placed a steadying hand on her shoulder, forcing her to stop and meet my gaze. “Krys, what’s wrong? Everything is fine,” I murmured, my voice a tether to calmness.“Everything is anything but fine, Ava” she replied, her

Ava's Point Of View I turned for the doors instantly, and left the hall, walking into the cool refreshing midnight air. I moved into the woods, stripping naked and shifting into my wolf. I grabbed my dress with my sharp canines and darted into the woods, heading for Kaden and my secret place. I reached the magical scenery, there was a beautiful lake flowing peacefully and beautiful flowers in bloom all around. This was just the place I needed to get my mind off things.I shifted back to my human form, tossing my dress to the side of the lake. My lips stretched into a smile, loving the serenity of this special place and the quiet peace it gave. I moved closer to the lake, my eyes glazing over the tall shadow that stretched up like arrows into the sky.The fresh water looked like a beautiful puddle of blue ink, taking the reflection of the full moon hanging up in the sky. The starry night alone calmed my soul.I took a few tentative steps into the glorious luster of the water until it
