Chapter 1

“Alpha, what are you doing?” Selene asked Alpha Killian, who seemed to have been intoxicated, and he was now pinning her to the wall with his powerful arms.

“Hmm, the smell of jasmine and fresh mint, very intoxicating.” The alpha growled at Selene.

He was about to kiss her when his wolf screamed out loud in his mind, “Killian, what the hell are you doing? Although she is our mate, she is nothing but a worthless omega. You cannot do that.”

“Shut up!” Killian growled at his wolf. He completely blocked him from his mind, and he began to kiss Selene like his life depended on it.

Selene’s heart was beating hard in her chest. This was Alpha Killian, the soon-to-be Alpha of the powerful Silvermoon pack. When she found out that he was her destined mate, Selene had been afraid that the man might reject her.

She was a lowly omega who did not even know her surname, so why would the powerful and ruthless Alpha Killian ever accept her as his mate?

Leave alone accepting her as his mate, would he even look at her twice?

But seeing that he had come to her on his own accord, hope rose in Selene’s heart. Was her fate finally going to change? Was Killian going to accept her and make her his Luna?

Since they were destined to be mates, the mate bond was very strong, and soon, they found themselves in each other's arms, skin to skin, doing things that made one’s adrenaline rush, and face blush.

When Selene woke up the following morning, she stretched out her hand as she smiled. But the smile on her face vanished when her hand was greeted with a sheer coldness.

She woke up with a start, and when she saw her disheveled look, she knew that she was not dreaming. Alpha Killian had spent the night in her tiny room.

Selene smiled. She said in a teasing tone, “Alpha, I never knew that you were the shy type. Today is the mating ceremony, so why did you leave? You could have stayed to at least say good morning to your soon-to-be Luna.”

Selene giggled to herself. She touched her sore lips and replayed the scene of Alpha Killian kissing her. Although her body had almost been torn apart, it gave her the reassurance that Killian was definitely going to accept her.

She was in a great mood as she picked up the clothes that had been scattered on the floor.

Her wolf, Kara, whispered to her, “Selene, do you really think that Alpha Killian is going to accept us?”

“Kara, is that even a question? It was the moon goddess who brought him to us last night, so definitely he is going to accept us.”

“Well, let us hope that nothing goes wrong.”

Today was the full-moon ritual where the pack members found and marked their mates. During the full moon, the wolf's powers are at their peak, so it was easy for mates to identify each other through their unique scent and mate bond.

At the mating ceremony hall, there was a mixture of emotions in the air as some people were cruelly rejected by their mates, while others were accepted.

Selene stood there nervously, looking at Alpha Killian with a hopeful gaze.

The memories of what happened yesterday flooded her mind, and no matter how much she tried to forget, they kept popping up.

With how passionate the Alpha had been last night, there was zero possibility that he would reject her.

But if Selene could foresee the future, she never would have shown up at the mating ceremony, because her world was about to be turned upside down.

Killian’s father, Alpha Damien Thorne, looked at his son, his gaze full of pride as he questioned, “Son, have you already identified your mate?”

“Yes, father.” Killian frowned.

He had known a long time ago that his mate was the worthless omega, whose job was to scrub the pack toilets every day. When he found out, he had been too ashamed to share the news with his parents, and he had been hoping that maybe the goddess was just playing a prank on him, and his real mate would show up today.

But after looking around, only the smell of jasmine and fresh mint filled his nose.

But there was no way he was going to accept that omega as his Luna. He did not want to become a laughingstock in the supernatural world.

“Well, you should quickly mark her. Everyone has been waiting to know your destined mate.”

Killian looked at his father and frowned. He spoke in a low voice, “Dad, I think that won’t be possible today.”

“What do you mean? How will it not be possible?”

“Because the only scent I can smell is of jasmine and fresh mint, and do you know who it belongs to?”

“Who?” Alpha Damien asked.

“That worthless omega over there,” Killian said as he pointed at Selene with his chin.

His father’s expression changed.

“What? How could it be? Is the moon goddess playing a prank on you?”

“I thought so too when I found out that she was my mate. I thought that a miracle would happen today.”

“Son, you cannot accept her as your mate. You are going to be the laughing stock of the entire pack and all the neighboring packs. No one is ever going to show you respect if you accept her as your mate and Luna.”

“Dad, I know.”

“The elders of the pack have been pressuring me into forming an alliance with the Bluemoon pack. The alpha of the Bluemoon pack only has one daughter, and she is set to inherit her father’s position. If you two come together, you would be a formidable force.”

“Okay, I will do as you say, pa.”

Although they had shared a night, Alpha Killian saw Selene as nothing but a worthless omega. She absolutely had no value in the pack, and he was even doing her a favor by rejecting her.

He walked towards her as everyone watched. They were stunned to see Killian walk towards Omega Selene, and they wondered if she was his destined mate.

Selene nervously clutched her dress when she saw Killian walk towards her. Her heartbeat increased, and blood rushed to her face.

Finally, the day she had been waiting for was here. Her fate was finally going to change.

Killian stood in front of Selene and looked at her straight in the eyes. Although he was almost tempted to bite her and leave his mark on her body, remembering her rank, his eyes were filled with nothing but disgust.

“Alpha Killian…” Selene called out after seeing that the man was not saying anything. Why was his gaze different from how it had been last night?

Why was he looking at her as if she were a stranger to him?

What Selene didn’t know was that a mysterious surge of power had wiped Killian’s memories of what transpired last night. He had absolutely no idea that the two had spent the night together.

“Who told you to open your mouth?” Killian asked in a cold voice.

“This must be the biggest joke of the century.”

Selene felt her intestines tighten when she heard Killian. She had a foreboding feeling that something bad was about to happen.

He looked at his pack members and spread his arms, “What was the moon goddess thinking when she chose this worthless omega with no value as my mate? She is so weak, and the only thing she knows is to scrub toilets and mop the floors. How could I possibly accept her as my mate?”

The crowd gasped, and Selene’s face turned pale after hearing Killian. What did he mean by his words?

Was he not going to accept her as his mate?

Killian turned around and looked at Selene, “Selene, I, Killian Thorne, the soon-to-be Alpha of the Silvermoon pack, reject you as my mate!”

Killian was awake instantly, already at her side.“Is it time?” he asked. She breathed through the sensation and shook her head. “Not yet, but soon. They are just being mischievous.”He helped her sit up, his movements careful, like he had practiced it a million times. They had prepared for this moment in every way they could, yet the weight of it still pressed gently against his heart.Later that day, Selene gathered the healers and midwives. There was calm in her voice, but also quiet excitement.“The twins will arrive before the next full moon,” she said. “Everything must be ready.”Word spread quickly, not as gossip, but as joy. Wolves smiled openly. Gifts began appearing outside their door. Small charms, blankets, and carved wooden toys.Elenar stood watching it all, arms crossed. “They already have an entire pack protecting them,” he said.Selene reached for his hand. “A

It meant awareness, and it meant listening closely to small changes before they grew into storms. That morning, she stood at the edge of the eastern woods, her fingers brushing the bark of an old oak tree. The land whispered back to her in familiar ways. The spirits were calm, but there was movement beneath the surface, like water flowing under ice.Killian stood nearby with two guards, giving her space but never leaving her unprotected.“The ground feels restless,” Selene said softly. “Not dangerous, just unsettled.”“From the Ridge packs?” Killian asked.“Partly,” she replied. “But this is older than politics. It is the land adjusting to long peace after long violence.”A faint shimmer moved between the trees. Elenar noticed it too, his hand tightening around the wooden staff he carried.“I see it,” he said. “It looks like a spirit trail.”Selene nodde

There was a new generation of hope, already growing strong inside her. Killian stood behind her, arms wrapped around her waist, his chin resting on her shoulder.“Can you believe it?” he asked softly. “After everything, we made it here.”Selene smiled, leaning into him. “I am still wondering just how lucky we are. But we are only here because we fought together. Through every trial, every danger… it brought us here.”Elenar ran across the yard, laughter filling the air. “Mama! Papa! Selene crouched behind a thick tree trunk, her breath slow and controlled as she watched the largest of her mother’s camps spread across the valley below.Torches burned along the perimeter, their flames twisting and snapping in the night air. Rows of tents stood in tight formation, and wolves moved between them with practiced purpose. At a distance, it looked disciplined, organized, and powerful. But Selene saw what others could not.She saw the hesitation in their movements. The way some followers avoided the glowing ritual marks carved into the ground. The way others whispered to each other when they thought no one was listening. Fear held this camp together, not loyalty.Killian knelt beside her, his presence solid and steady. His eyes followed the same patterns she tracked, already reading the terrain like a second skin.“Are you ready for this?” he asked quietly.Selene did not lo

If anything, they sharpened her awareness. She knew her mother well enough to understand that retreat did not mean defeat. It meant adjustment. It meant planning something darker, faster, and far more dangerous.Every pack that had fallen under her mother’s influence carried fragments of knowledge Selene had yet to uncover. Pieces of ritual lore, fractured loyalties, and half-truths whispered in desperation. Together, they formed a threat that could not be ignored.Selene stood atop a narrow ridge, gazing down into the valley below. The river clans moved freely now, their fear eased for the
