Chapter 14

Before I knew it, a week had flown by in his home.

It wasn't as bad as I expected, but it still wasn't rainbows and butterflies. I followed the same mundane routine everyday like clockwork, rarely straying from it. I quickly caught on to the fact that Benji was an early riser, something I am not. Everyday he gets up no later than seven am to start his day before going into the pack house. I'm not sure what pending documents await him that he needs to be there so early, but he always comes back drained from the long day.

Because of his schedule, I've rarely seen him. In fact, the only time I see him is during dinner. There isn't much to discuss at meals when I don't leave the house, so our conversations are as stale as cardboard cake. Being cooped up with a door to freedom so close has left me antsy to escape. I wouldn't dare, though. I'm not stupid. I know he has people watching me.

He's never said there were guards, but he doesn't say a lot of things. I can just sense them. When you'
