Candy's POV

I moved as fast as I could. If Virgil and Gina walked out of that room, they would be able to detect my scent and would realise that I had been there a short while back. Then, they would realise that I had heard them if any of their common sense was left in their brains.

I rushed straight towards the brand new car I had got for Virgil. Looks like he won't be needing it anymore. After turning it on, I raced away from the newly built guest house. As I felt that I was about to cross the pack borders, I inhaled deeply and reduced the speed of the car. It was time.

"I, Candy Johnson, reject Alpha Virgil Sampson as my mate."

I gulped. An excruciating pain yanked at my chest. I knew that Virgil would be feeling it worse since I was the one who initiated the rejection. I looked around and saw that I had crossed the perimeters. Now I was no longer in the pack boundaries.

After taking deep, steady breaths, I prepared for the second part of my rejection. Holding back the tears that threatened to roll down my cheeks, I swallowed the lump in my throat. Grasping onto the steering wheel as hard as I could, I strengthened my resolution. This has to be done. I have got to do this. And I will, for the sake of my unborn pup. Heaving a deep breath,

"I Luna Candy Johnson, I'm leaving the Blood Moon Pack in the care of Alpha Virgil Sampson. I hereby resign from my Luna duties and leave the Blood Moon Pack forever."

My lips quivered and so did my voice as I declared that. I loved this pack with all my heart and being. It was my home. The only home I knew, the place I grew up. However I no longer could remain in this pack.

I felt a huge surge of energy flow through me and I quickly stepped on the brakes. Leaving a pack forever was huge. It always took a toll on the one who leaves and in my case, it would be more since I was their Luna.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as I squeezed my eyes shut. I knew my pack members were innocent. Maybe one day, I'll come back. But for now, I must leave to save myself.

The power surge that originated from my chest spread throughout my body. I started to tremble. My breaths were more like short gasps. Sweat droplets had formed on my face, despite the air conditioning of the car being turned on.

Hold on pup, just a little while more.....

I told him internally, although I knew that my little one wouldn't understand. After what felt like an eternity, the trembling and shaking stopped. I took my time to calm my erratic heart and laid my hand over my little bump. When I felt my pup's movement, a smile of satisfaction spread across my face. Swallowing the accumulated saliva, I tried to feel the presence of Nina.

"Nina?" I called.

"Yes, darling," came the reply. A breath of relief escaped my lips. She was fine.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Of course. I am more than okay. I'm a little shaken up, but still, I'm fine," she told me.

"We'll be fine," I assured. "We have got this. We have a pup to raise," I told her.

"Yeah, and make sure that he goes back to the pack to kick his father's sorry ass," Nina responded, making me laugh.

"Of course," I agreed, sneering at the thought of my stupid mate. No, ex-mate and that slut who was posing as my best friend.

I honestly hope karma gets them.

"Oh, we can be karma," Nina laughed.

Chuckling, I nodded my head. "That sounds fun," I told her. I kept focused on the road and didn't stop until I reached the highway that would take me out of this city. I know I didn't have anything with me besides my purse and this car.

Honestly, for me, that was enough. I planned to settle in the human city, which was on the other side of the country, retrieve my money and start fresh.

I don't need him. I don't need anyone. Nina and my pup were enough.

Virgil's POV

I can't believe I had wasted a whole year with Candy. Gina was way better. I had been ignoring her my whole life since I had always thought that my fated mate would be the best one for me.

Oh boy, was I wrong? And it took her pregnancy for me to realise what I was missing. Candy's morning sickness forbade her from getting intimate with me and by the time a month passed with zero contact, I was sexually frustrated. It was Gina who relieved me. Slowly, I inclined towards her and now I simply can't live without her. However, I was a bit too late. Candy was pregnant with my heir and I couldn't reject her just like that.

After an awesome round of lovemaking, we showered together and were about to get dressed and leave when an excruciating pain in my chest made me groan and drop onto my knees.

"What happened?" Gina gasped and quickly rushed to my assistance.

I couldn't reply, nor open my eyes. Clutching onto my shirt, I grunted and rasped. The agony was too much. I tried to take deep breaths, hoping that it would soon pass.

"We must call the doctor!" Gina exclaimed and hastened to call the pack doctor.

The pain lasted for a few minutes and soon I was able to breathe normally. Still gasping, "What was that?" I wondered out loud and straightened myself.

"I'm fine now," I told her and leaned forward to kiss her luscious lips.

"But the doctor is on her way already," she said, leaning away from me as I held her in my arms.

"That'll be fine. I'll mind link her and tell her that I'm fine now," I replied and claimed her soft pink lips. She was quick to respond to it, moving her lips and tongue in synchronisation with mine. I loved it. I loved every bit of it.

"Mine," I whispered into her ear before walking out, making her giggle as we walked out of our love nest.

Suddenly, I felt an unexpected whoosh of energy leave my body as I stepped outside, making me frown.

Did someone leave the pack? As their alpha, I would feel that energy bolt if someone left. Shaking my head, I decided to ignore it for the time being. It was my birthday and I didn't want to worry about anything. Just then, the familiar scent I used to love hit my nose. I froze. No, it cannot be...

Gina inhaled, just to be sure. My lips parted as realisation washed over me.

"Candy," I whispered.

"What?" Gina scowled, but then she too went rigid. "That.... that is her scent," she exclaimed, widening her eyes.

Our concerned gazes met. Candy must have found out about us.

Shit!

Luna felt a tightening in her chest. It was as if a massive boulder was pressing her down. She felt like she couldn't breathe properly. Some unpleasant scenes from the past crossed her mind.Flashback..."You are the alpha's daughter! It is unacceptable for you to remain unmated at this age," Luna's father, the alpha king Kel, bellowed. Luna stood before her parents, her fists clenched. "I don't want to be forced into a mating bond I don't desire," she retorted defiantly. Her mother, Luna Candy, tried to reason with her. "Darling, the bonding festival is a sacred tradition. You'll have the chance to meet eligible wolves and choose a suitable mate.""What if I don't find anyone I want to mate with?" Luna argued. "You can't make me go through with it against my will!""Don't be ridiculous!" her father roared. "You will attend and pick a mate, or so help me..."Luna's eyes flashed with defiance. Without another word, she turned and stormed out of the den. Later that night, as the moon

She stomped her feet and dashed out the door.Clack-Clack-Clack...The sound of her shoes clacking hung in the air.Gayle scowled at Luna and said, "Come with me" He strode out. Luna rolled her eyes, frustrated. But she followed him like an obedient child.Only when she entered the packhouse did Luna realize it was bigger than that of hers at the Moon pack. She took a look around as she proceeded forward. The walls were painted white and adorned with many contemporary paintings. Acylindrical sconce above each of the paintings radiated yellow light."Huge" was an understatement to describe the size of the hall. In front of the hearth, there was a big L-shaped sofa, two three-seaters, and a sculptural settee.Luna bent her neck backward as she looked at the numerous rooms scattered from th

"You are not permitted to open your mouth, let alone question me She glared at her from head to toe, disgusted. "Kneel" Her crisp voice echoed inside the cell.Luna kept staring at her, her chin up.
