I laid in the bed, wondering what had just happened. My face burned with heat, still flushed from Logan's touch. Even in his absence, the air felt heavy with him, as though his presence clung to the very walls. I hated the warmth still swirling in my chest, the shameful thrill that tingled through my limbs while he kissed me, touched me.

Oh, Reina, why didn’t you stop him? You could’ve pushed him off, slapped him, anything. So what if he got mad? So what if he killed you? Isn’t that what you’ve longed for to be done with all of this?

Yet here I was, paralyzed beneath the blanket he’d tossed over me, limbs curled tightly under the heat of the fire and the echo of his body against mine. My thoughts twisted and tangled with confusion. The way he stopped so suddenly, the urgency in his tone, the way his whole body stiffened like he had sensed something, or maybe someone.
