Lucas POV

Staring at Enise's picture sitting proudly on my work table, I can't help but miss her, miss her smile ànd her tenderness.

I can't believe it's been five years. Five years ànd everytime I think about her at night, sleep helps me.

It's been five years of trying to pretend to be fine when deep down I know I'm nothing but fine.

If someone told me that I'd spend five years consumed by nothing but guilt, I'll not have agreed but here I am, a wreckage of who I used to be.

Every damn day, I have to wake up and fulfill my alpha duties ànd also take care of my daughter, our daughter. The only good thing my wife left for me.

Just thinking about my daughter ,Miracle makes me smile. She is the exact copy of her mother. From her beauty to her bubbly personality.

Seeing her reminds me of the grave mistake I committed against Enise.

Taking her daughter away from her and allowing Laura to drive her to her death.

They say that the hospital she was confined in burnt down leaving behind no survivors. In the first years, I didn't believe she was gone, that my Enise was dead but after waiting for her to come back to us, the reality started sinking in.

Enise was gone, never to return again.

They say that it was an accident but I have never believed it.

The cause, the evidence of the reason the fire broke out was easily identified and I believe that it was planted evidence.

But who can I blame? At first, I suspected Laura but then again, that night, she laid in bed, sick.

She could barely stand up, talk less about orchestrating such a big act.

A knock on my door forces me to snap out of my depressing thoughts and put the picture back in the drawer where I store all my memories.

"Come in" I order and watch as the door opens and the most beautiful girl I have ever seen steps inside, a bright smile lighting up her face.

"Daddy!" My little angel yells before running towards me. I squat and catch her in my arms before kissing her cheeks, the softness of her skin against my lips.

"Hi my little angel. Did you miss me?" I ask her, staring into her light blue eyes, the exact replica of her mother.

"Yes daddy, very much." She tells me. I smile down at her before putting her back on her feet and she takes a few steps back.

Lifting her in my arms, I settle on the couch ànd acknowledge my beta's preserve.

" Why did you come back so soon?" I àsked ànd Marcus shrugged.

" The doctor turned us down from picking her at the airport. She said she will arrive to sign the contract tomorrow." Marcus answered ànd I frowned.

She turned them down?

" Isn't she a foreigner? How would she navigate around?" I could not help but ask but the look on Marcus' face told me he was clueless.

" Alright, I'll just meet her at the hospital tomorrow." I said,

" Can I come to the hospital with you!" Miracle's sweet voice sounded as she stared at me with her cute doe-like eyes.

Seeing the anticipation in her eyes, I could not help but smile sadly.

" Unfortunately, you can't Miracle. You Know that you can't go out of the house consecutively for your own safety." I replied

" But daddy-"

" No buts, sweetie. It's for your own safety. Go play in your room and I'll send someone to get you for dinner later." I interrupted her.

Although reluctant, Miracle nodded before exiting the room.

Turning to Marcus, I gave him a questioning look.

" No news of her yet. It's like she vanished into thin air." Marcus replied, making me sigh.

" Do yóu think she hates me?" I àsked and he shrugged.

" I don't know. What I do know is that you did the right thing by telling Miracle about her real mother.

As much as Laura adored Miracle, the fact still remains that she didn't give birth to her.

Ànd the issue of not being my sister, maybe that pushed her even more to leave." Marcus replied.

Two years ago on my daughter's birthday, I had come clean to her about her biological mother.

Back then, things weren't going well between Laura and I but to be miracle's mother, she stayed by my side.

Maybe that triggered her from disappearing from our lives.

" About your sister, do yóu plan on finding her?" I àsked Marcus but he shook his head.

" It's been twenty five years, do yóu think it's possible to find her? Besides, you are busy with miracle's health, I need to be here to assist you in managing the pack."

I nodded in agreement.

The following day, I left the pack to the hospital after accompanying my daughter for breakfast.

The surgeon we hired for her upcoming surgery would be arriving to sign the contract.

She is said to be the best there is. I Just hope she can help Miracle with her illness.

Arriving at the hospital, I headed straight to the director's office where the contract would be signed.

" Alpha," director Trevor greeted me ànd I nodded as he ushered me to his office.

Looking around, I didn't spot anyone in the room making me frown.

" She is not here yet?" I àsked, glaring at the man who cowered back.

" She called to say she will be here in five minutes." He replied and as much as I was pissed to be kept waiting, I swallowed my annoyance ànd slumped on the seat, choosing to scroll through my phone.

Barely three minutes later, the door was pushed open and a sweet scent of jasmine mixed with lemon filled my nose.

Lifting my face, my phone slipped past my fingers and I stood up in a jerk.

" Enise!"

First Person’s Perspective – Enise’s POV I drove back to the Alpha’s mansion, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white. My mind was a mess, and Diana’s words kept replaying in my head. *Selfish. Selfish. Selfish.* Was I really that selfish? Maybe this was even for the best? My phone buzzed, and I glanced at it. It was a text from Miracle. *“Doctor Denise, please come home fast. Daddy is acting crazy, and I’m scared.”* My heart sank. Miracle was just a child. She didn’t deserve to be caught up in all this. I pressed the accelerator, speeding toward the mansion. Whatever was going on, I had to be there for her. When I finally reached the gates, I expected the guards to let me in as usual. But they didn’t. They stood there, blocking the entrance, their faces stern. “What’s going on?” I asked, rolling down the window. “Let me in.” One of the guards stepped forward. “I’m sorry, ma’am. The Alpha gave strict orders. You’re not allowed inside.”

First Person’s Perspective –Enise’s POVI literally raced into the coffee shop. My hands shook as I scanned the whole place in search of my best friend as I was already at the verge of tears. Anna was already there, sitting at our usual booth in the corner. She looked up as I approached, her expression shifting from curiosity to concern the moment she saw my face. She rose to her feet immediately “Enise,” she said, standing up. “What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I sank into the chair across from her, my shoulders slumping. “I messed up, Anna. I messed up big time.” I said. Tears welling up in the corner of my eyes. My heart was thumping really hard in my chest Anna leaned forward, squinting her eyes as she searched mine for any hint about what I was talking about “What happened?” I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. “Last night… Lucas and I were drinking. I got drunk, and I… I told him everything. Who I really am. What we’ve been doing. Everything.

First Person’s Perspective – Enise’s POVI woke up with a pounding headache, my head was banging so hard, as though I had been hit in the head with a harmmer the night beforeThe sunlight peeped through the curtains making me squint and rub my eyes with the back of my palm. For a moment, I just lay there, trying to recall together the events of last night. My mind was foggy, hazy even but I remembered the riot, the chaos, and Lucas’s despair, how he had complained of been a failure and how guilt had been eating at me, I also remembered drinking with him, but everything after that was a blur. It was as though my mind was shut blank afterwards and I couldn't remember a single thing afterwards Before I could think too much about it, the door creaked open, and Miracle came bolting into the room. She was already dressed in her school uniform, her backpack slung over one shoulder and a very bright smile on her face. One that was enough to make me smile too and forget all about my worries

First Person’s Perspective –Enise’s PO I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the floor. My mind was all over the place, replaying the conversation with Lucian over and over again. His words echoed in my head: *“Try and stop me, then. See how far you get.”* I clenched my fists, frustration piling up inside me. Lucian was stubborn, and once he set his mind to something, he wouldn’t stop until it was done. I had to find a way to stop him before it was too late. But how? How could I possibly do that?. He had all the resources, All the power and support from Diana. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. My thoughts were a mess. I couldn’t think straight. All I knew was that I couldn’t let Lucian kill Lucas. Not for Miracle’s sake. Not for mine. A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked up, startled. “Come in,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. The door opened, and Lucas walked in. He looked tired, his shoulders slumped, and his eyes dull. He closed th

  • Alpha Lucas’’s second chance    Chapter 123

First Person's Perspective – Lucas's POVI stood in the balcony of my study, my glass in hand, staring down at the city below. The lights flickered across the skyline, but to me, everything seemed to be crumbling. I could see it all—the decay, the rot, the cracks in the foundation of everything my father had built. His legacy, my legacy, was slipping through my fingers, no matter how hard I tried to hold on.I took a sip of my drink, the bitterness matching the taste of failure in my mouth.I had tried, damn it, I had. But every effort seemed wasted. Every move I made, every decision I took, just seemed to make it worse. A force, invisible but so very real, was dragging me down, holding me back. I had tried to steer things in the right direction, but I was only making it worse. And now, I could hear the whispers, the rumors that had been circulating for weeks. Some group of people had banded together, a faction calling for my impeachment. Their anger was palpable, their voices rising

He looked like he had just delivered the most casual announcement, but the words hit me like a cold slap to the face. “What did you say?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, but it cracked under the weight of his revelation.Lucian didn’t seem to care about my confusion. He stood, his expression serious, yet tinged with something dark and triumphant. “The plan was always clear,” he said, folding his arms across his chest, his eyes narrowing as he continued, “Take everything from Lucas, ruin his life, and then…” He leaned in closer, the sinister edge in his voice unmistakable, “end him.”My breath caught in my throat, and I could feel my legs wobble beneath me. No. This couldn’t be what I agreed to. This wasn’t the plan at all. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head furiously. “No, no, no. Lucian, that wasn’t part of th
