Iliana’s POV:

My eyes snapped open. A scream erupted in the air. It wasn’t his. It was mine.

He, on the other hand, was utterly and eerily silent. Not even a scream, not even a hiss. He was standing still as if the last few minutes never happened.

I had stabbed him. I had stabbed my stalker. Oh God, what the fuck did I do. Why did I do it? How could I kill a living being?

A sob wretched out of me, and my eyes watered as I shook my head, “No. No no no. It can’t be.”

All types of evil thoughts started reeling through my mind. Would I ever be able to believe in court that I did it in self-defence? How would I prove that he intruded into my apartment? Police already thought that I was exaggerating. Oh God…

Cold sweat slicked down my back. My fingers trembled around the knife. With my other hand, I gripped the counter to keep myself from collapsing.

And then, the world slowed down around me when his hand moved from my cheek to my hand holding the knife that was still plunged into his chest.

A low, chilling chuckle filled the air between us as he tightened his hold over my hand. “You are afraid,” he sounded almost surprised and amused as if he had unlocked the greatest mystery of all time.

Before I could process anything, my eyebrows dipped into a deep frown as he slowly slid the knife out of his chest without so much as a wince of pain. More blood pooled out of a gaping hole in his chest. Nausea rose in my throat.

Anyone else would be grunting and howling in agony, but this man didn’t even show a speck of damage done to him. He kept standing upright as if it were a needle that pricked his skin instead of a large, sharp knife.

I loosened my grip on the knife, all ready to let go of the weapon that was going to be used against me in the court.

But to my shock, he tightened his hold around mine. A shiver crawled up my spine, seeping deep inside me, infiltrating every cell of mine, paralyzing me from the inside out. What was going on in his mind?

His voice sounded exhilarating as he chuckled creepily, “Too bad that I now thrive on your fear, Little Muse.”

He didn’t give me time to process his words because the very next moment, he raised my hand in the air, and before my mind could even register it, he thrust the knife back into his chest with a sickening, wet squelch. Deeper this time.

A loud, sharp scream tore from my throat. I tried to crawl away from him, but caged between his body and the counter, I had nowhere to run to.

“What are you doing?” I asked in bafflement.

My shoulders shook as ugly sobs ripped out of me as he, once again, slid the knife out, only to be plunged right back into his chest as if tearing through a slab of raw meat.

Another shower of hot blood sprayed over my face, making me recoil in on myself. My head felt dizzy as if all the blood had drained out of me.

In short, ragged whispers, I begged him, “No…please…stop…don’t…” My voice died in my throat.

My fear seemed to fuel his entertainment because the only response to my desperate pleas was his low, guttural laugh, “You’re the one who started it, Iliana.”

I shook my head vehemently as he started sliding the knife out again. I tried to beg him, but the words got stuck in my throat.

Unable to take it anymore, my mind was shutting down to the terror unfolding in front of my eyes. My hold on the counter loosened. My knees buckled beneath my weight. My eyelids refused to stay open any longer.

Before I knew it, my body tumbled downward. I waited to thud to the hard floor, but instead, strong arms wrapped around my back before I hit the floor. The irony of him wanting to protect me didn’t go unnoticed by me.

But I was too exhausted to even think about that. My vision blurred before my eyes closed.

The last sound I registered was of the knife clattering to the floor before everything around me went silent, and darkness engulfed me whole.

Maddox’s POV:Ever since Derek Lysarian’s blade spilled my father’s blood and chains of paralysis bound my mother to a state of silence and stillness, I’d neither called nor ever considered the pack house a HOME. No, it never felt like one.It was a cage with no sense of belonging. A labyrinth brimming with spies and shadows, where every corner whispered with Darla’s eyes and ears.I bet she must have felt the same because…I wasn’t any less. We were two enemies, sharing a common space, keeping an eye on each other, planning our next strategies while trying to find out what must be going on in the other’s mind. Most werewolves believe that having a mate is the best blessing the Moon Goddess has bestowed on our kind. But I never agreed to that. The most powerful blessing was the ability to mindlink, a true weapon and the perfect camouflage.Just like now, when I was seated in the dining, eyes on the plate in front of me, ears on Darla’s nonsensical chattering, but mind…? Mind connected

Iliana’s POV:When I reached my apartment, Thea was already sprawled over the couch with her feet crossed on the coffee table in front. As soon as I entered, she whipped her head toward me, “You’re back. Finally.”My eyes drifted from the tub of ice cream clutched between her hands to the sitcom playing over the TV. And that was enough for me to know that whatever clash she had with her mother was over something childish because if it had been serious, I’d have come home to find another version of Thea, the one pacing the floor with fumes oozing out of her ears.Kicking off the shoes by the door, I padded into the living room, “What happened now?”She let out a dramatic sigh before rolling her eyes, “As usual, mother happened.”I chuckled softly while tossing my bag onto the armchair, “May I ask how come she ‘offended’ Your Highness this time?”Thea straightened up and narrowed her eyes into thin slits, “She scolded me over dinner just because I didn’t finish my salad.”I blinked, “Wa

Maddox’s POV:With a heavy silence lingering between us, we made our way out of the university. Iliana was walking ahead of me.Lights around the campus were off now except for little bulbs here and there but it was enough for her to look at my face if she were to turn around. But she didn’t. Not even once. And I hated that.I had just fucked her raw against the shelf housing the ancient knowledge. I was literally inside her minutes ago, her every moan was for me, she cummed on my cock before I filled her pussy with mine…but still…it wasn’t enough.I wasn’t satisfied with just having her body. I needed her gaze too. I wanted her to look into my eyes while she came apart. I wanted her to scream my name while she chased her orgasm. Now, I didn’t only want control, I wanted recognition. I wanted her to acknowledge me…to fucking own me.Frustration swelled inside me but I tried my best to remain calm and bite my tongue…until I couldn’t.My footsteps halted and I breathed in through my nos

Iliana's POV:Intertwining my fingers through his, I tightened my grip on his hand and tiptoed deeper into the shadows. For once, I was leading and he was obeying...and something about that made me feel overwhelmingly powerful. At the end of the hallway, hidden behind the rows of shelves, was a lone door. Ancient and forgotten.During the earlier days, when I was still exploring the campus, I'd discovered the place beyond the locked door.Old Archives...as students liked to call it. It was an extension of the main library but was opened only once in a few months for cleaning purposes.Stopping before the door, I commanded him, "Open it."I didn't need to ask whether he could open the lock or not. By now, I just knew that he could. He leaned closer and a cold shiver ran down my spine as his breath hit my bare neck, "Just to let you know, no one has ever dared to order me around, Little Muse."The amusement in his voice felt nowhere like a warning. If anything, it felt thrilling. The co

  • Alpha Maddox Is My Stalker   Chapter 37

Iliana’s POV:The next morning, I opened my eyes and the first thing I felt was soreness between my legs. A deep blush crept up my neck as the images of last night flooded my mind.Last night, he had fucked me against the wall and then took me again on the bed. We fucked until my moans ran dry and all energy drained out of me and only then did he leave me.I was too tired even to get up and wash myself. My eyelids felt heavy and I was half asleep when I saw him getting off the bed, going into the washroom, and returning with a wet towel.A smile crept over my face at the memory of him wiping me clean and pressing the hot towel between my legs with the softness that made me question the roughness with which he had fucked me just a few moments ago.I wanted to stay on the bed and reminisce about those blissful moments all over again but I couldn’t afford to do so if I wanted to keep my scholarship intact. So, with a heavy groan, I persuaded myself to kick off the comforter and dragged m

Iliana’s POV:With a deep frown etched between my brows, I slowly turned around to face the tall silhouette, “What?”“Come on, answer me,” he demanded in a low, aggravated voice that reverberated deep within my cells, “Why didn’t you turn on the light?” he repeated his question.I stared at him, still confused, “How does that even matter?”“It does actually,” he gritted out fiercely. And then, to my utter surprise, he flipped the hood back and removed his mask. Even though it was too dark to see his face, my heart lurched into my throat at the anticipation.Taking off his cloak, he tossed it on the bed, “You just complained that you know nothing about me or what my name is or how I look, right?”When I stayed silent, he took a step toward me and said, in a voice that commanded obedience without raising a decibel, “You answer me when I ask you a question, Iliana.”“Y-yes,” I blurted out quickly. With every slow, deliberate step he was closing the distance between us, my heart beat turn
