Chapter 5

I knocked on Alec’s door and instantly regretted it when Taylor Evans, my brother’s girlfriend, opened it. Her light brown eyes landed on me with distaste as recognition settled into her features.

Let’s just say we didn’t see eye to eye.

“You could at least say hello to me,” I said when she remained silent, looking at me as if I were an insignificant mosquito.

“What do you want, peasant?” She crossed her arms, and I took a deep breath, channeling my inner Zen because it was going to take a whole lot of patience to have a conversation with Taylor Evans.

“I’m not here to talk to you, Taylor. I’m here to see my brother... speaking of, where is he?” I asked, ignoring her insult.

“Alec is busy. He doesn’t have time for you,” she said, attempting to close the door, but I intercepted her with my foot.

“You don’t get to decide that; go get him, or I’m coming in,” I told her, irritation sparking in my chest.

“Listen, little Omega,” she sneered, her voice condescending. “The only reason I’m even bothering to acknowledge you is because you’re Alec’s sister.”

I sighed.

Werewolves easily let their ranks inflate their egos. It was as if the logical part of them didn’t even exist, leaving their animal instincts to run the show. This was exactly why I despised the system so much. Why couldn’t we just treat each other with a little decency?

“Yeah, and this little Omega can get whatever she wants, thanks to her big brother,” I shot back, folding my arms. “You know, I could tell him all about the crap you give me. Who knows? Maybe then he’d finally consider Kayla’s confession.”

The moment I said her name, I knew I’d hit a nerve. Kayla was a girl who’d been trying to win my brother’s attention for the longest time. She had always been a sore spot for Taylor. Their childhood rivalry ran deep, and just the mention of Kayla was enough to send Taylor spiraling into a jealous rage.

Taylor narrowed her eyes. “Michelle, you were born to be at the bottom. You’ll never accomplish anything besides cleaning bathrooms and washing dishes. Isn’t that the reason you left in the first place, because you’re so pathetic?” She laughed as she watched my cheeks go up in flames.

My hand made contact with her cheek before I could think twice. She let out a gasp and looked at me in disbelief. There was no way I was going to tolerate such disrespect.

“Kayla would be a better girlfriend for Alec than you could ever be!” I shot back.

“Shut up!” she snapped, her voice rising as she finally lost it. Before I could react, she grabbed a fistful of my hair, yanking hard.

The nerve of this woman. Gritting my teeth, I grabbed her hair in return and pulled with every ounce of strength I had.

“You pig!” I said between my teeth.

“Peasant,” she fired back.

A loud growl made us freeze.

“Taylor, let her go now!” my brother growled. She immediately let go, and I followed suit.

“Baby–” Taylor began.

“Don’t say a word.” Alec cut her off.

“Michelle, explain yourself.” Alec’s voice was calm, but his eyes said otherwise. It wasn’t just him looking at me; his wolf was in them too.

“Not if she’s around.” I folded my arms and cast my eyes toward Taylor, knowing full well he would take my side on this.

“Taylor, go inside.” The look of hurt in her eyes almost made me feel bad for her, but it soon faded when she flipped me off.

I smirked and waved at her when Alec had his back to me.

When she was gone, I let out a deep breath.

“In my defense, I came in peace... sort of.”

“What happened?” he asked, his voice holding concern and frustration.

“High-ranking wolves thinking they can push me around because I’m an Omega... you know, the usual.”

Alec pursed his lips. “I’ll have a talk with her.” He took a step closer and ruffled my hair.

“If only I had been born an Epsilon or even a Zeta,” I mumbled, more to myself than to him.

“You need to learn to love and accept who you are,” he said, which, for some reason, bothered me—especially coming from someone who didn’t understand what it meant to be an Omega.

“I’ll try,” I said, and a silence ensued.

“By th–”

“I’m sure you’ve heard,” Alec said, interrupting my next words, “but an important pack will arrive in our territory in a few days.” He said, changing the subject.

“Felix needs a few Omegas to set up the tables, food, and drinks. I heard they’re pretty popular. Maybe you’d like a chance to meet them? Get an autograph even?” he inquired, almost as if he was trying to make amends in some weird way for what Taylor had done.

This was perfect; it was the reason I had come anyway.

“Can I bring a friend?” I asked hopefully.

“Sure.”

“Thanks, Alec. I’m heading home now. Need anything?” I asked.

“No, go get some rest,” he said before stepping into his house and disappearing inside.

The next morning, my phone buzzed, jolting me out of sleep. I groaned, rolling over to grab it from the charger."Yes, Sofia?" I mumbled, my voice thick with exhaustion. "What's so urgent at this ungodly hour?"The faint sunlight filtering through the curtains suggested it was far too early to be dealing with drama."Mija, did you hear the news?" Sofia's voice sounded tense."What news?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes."Someone's getting disciplinary action today," she said, her tone bitter. That got my attention. "What happened?""They're saying an Omega tried to attack a Zeta," she replied. "But the rumor is that the Zeta deserved it." She paused, and I could feel the frustration in her voice. "It's so awful how divided this pack is.""It really is," I agreed.I hoped Alec's plan of taking over would be sooner rather than later. We really needed a new Alpha."Anyway, attendance is mandatory. I'll go to your place, and we can go together with Gabriel, okay, mija?""Sure thin

I wanted to win this little game despite the odds being nonexistent. That is why I ran towards the closest shifting site and undressed like an army of fire ants had ambushed me. I bunched up my clothes and hid them behind a tree, marking the tree with my claws so I could find them later. The shift to wolf form was quick.Once on solid ground, I sped into the woods. My paws lightly touched the ground as I zigzagged through trees and dodged large rocks. It was exhilarating. I had forgotten how amazing the wind could feel on my fur.Snap.My ears twitched at the sound of snapping branches in the distance. Nicholas was already on my trail. Damn, he was good. I should have expected no less from an Alpha. I made a sharp turn and headed north.Nicholas let out a howl, letting me know he was close.I pivoted and headed toward the sound of water. The pounding of paws inched closer. He was gaining on me. I could feel it, but I kept running anyway, hoping I could lose him.I skidded to a stop wh

"Michelle, are you okay?" Alec asked, his gaze drifting to mine.My stomach dropped as I stepped out of Nicholas's hold. Surprisingly, he didn't try to stop me, and I was able to fully face Alec."Yes, Alec, I'm okay. Don't worry about me," I said.Alec's eyes drifted to Nicholas. "You. What do you want with my sister?"I felt Nicholas's wolf prowling with a vicious intensity that made the air thick. He wasn't used to being challenged. The thought of Alec questioning him had probably set his wolf on edge."Maybe you should ask her yourself," Nicholas said, his gaze indifferent, as though the entire confrontation was nothing more than a mild amusement to him.Alec's eyes turned to me, and I pursed my lips. What exactly was I supposed to say? Hey, I put a laxative in his drink, so now he bit me as revenge?"I've got this under control, Alec. Don't worry about me."Alec furrowed his brows, his attention snapping to Nicholas, who had grabbed me and pulled me against him."Now, little Omeg

William and I had stopped to buy snacks and were now sitting on a bench near one of the parks in Crescent Moon territory. After talking to him for a while, I now know William’s favorite color, drink, and food. Oh, and apparently, he had a thing for thick women.Interesting what you can learn in a short amount of time.“So, what brings the Shadow Moon pack here?” I asked as we transitioned from lighthearted topics to something more serious.I swung my feet, enjoying my mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was a rare indulgence in this pack since Felix’s reckless spending left us without money more than half the time.William paused, clearly caught off guard by my question. His playful demeanor shifted slightly, and a sharp look crossed his face.“Ah, babe, didn’t anyone ever tell you curiosity killed the cat?” he said, though his tone was still teasing.“Good thing I’m not a cat then,” I replied with a smirk.William chuckled before leaning back on the bench. “Well…” He trailed off, clear

I was sure no amount of perfume could hide the intoxicating scent of musk and earth that Nicholas Mark emitted. The scent was intense, so strong it was almost suffocating. It was an obvious warning to anyone within a five-foot radius that I was off-limits.The idea of being claimed by him pissed me off so much that a rebel in my thoughts urged me to exact my vengeance. There would be no greater pleasure than destroying him, to have him at my mercy. However, as unfortunate as it sounded, taking his warning was probably for the best.I sighed. If I didn’t have to wash dishes in the dining room, I would stay in my room until the mark disappeared. Unfortunately, I had been called back to help in the kitchen, and skipping chores was not an option. If I were reported for disobeying a task given by a higher authority, it was considered an offense that warranted discipline, in other words, a whipping in front of the entire pack. There was nothing I hated more than being whipped in front of wo

  • Alpha Mine   Chapter 14

As soon as I felt his sharp canines pierce my skin, I screamed, the unexpected pain catching me off guard. My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I fought to push him off me, but it was useless. His hold on me was firm as if he’d trapped a prey; he had no intention of letting go.“N–Nicholas!” I shouted, struggling beneath him. But despite my frantic attempts to break free, I couldn’t push him off.“Keep still, little Omega,” he muttered through the bite, coldly.“Nicholas, you son of a–” but my words were cut short as he pulled back from the bite and began lapping the wound with his tongue, nice and slow. The feeling sent a shiver through me, causing my heart to spike. The intimacy and the possessiveness in his touch, I had to admit, felt good as hell. When he finally pulled away, his hazel eyes glowed in the dim light. He was no longer the man I had met outside the dining hall. This was a completely different person. A dangerous beast that could kill me if he wanted to.“And just li
