Chapter 5

I knocked on Alec’s door and instantly regretted it when Taylor Evans, my brother’s girlfriend, opened it. Her light brown eyes landed on me with distaste as recognition settled into her features.

Let’s just say we didn’t see eye to eye.

“You could at least say hello to me,” I said when she remained silent, looking at me as if I were an insignificant mosquito.

“What do you want, peasant?” She crossed her arms, and I took a deep breath, channeling my inner Zen because it was going to take a whole lot of patience to have a conversation with Taylor Evans.

“I’m not here to talk to you, Taylor. I’m here to see my brother... speaking of, where is he?” I asked, ignoring her insult.

“Alec is busy. He doesn’t have time for you,” she said, attempting to close the door, but I intercepted her with my foot.

“You don’t get to decide that; go get him, or I’m coming in,” I told her, irritation sparking in my chest.

“Listen, little Omega,” she sneered, her voice condescending. “The only reason I’m even bothering to acknowledge you is because you’re Alec’s sister.”

I sighed.

Werewolves easily let their ranks inflate their egos. It was as if the logical part of them didn’t even exist, leaving their animal instincts to run the show. This was exactly why I despised the system so much. Why couldn’t we just treat each other with a little decency?

“Yeah, and this little Omega can get whatever she wants, thanks to her big brother,” I shot back, folding my arms. “You know, I could tell him all about the crap you give me. Who knows? Maybe then he’d finally consider Kayla’s confession.”

The moment I said her name, I knew I’d hit a nerve. Kayla was a girl who’d been trying to win my brother’s attention for the longest time. She had always been a sore spot for Taylor. Their childhood rivalry ran deep, and just the mention of Kayla was enough to send Taylor spiraling into a jealous rage.

Taylor narrowed her eyes. “Michelle, you were born to be at the bottom. You’ll never accomplish anything besides cleaning bathrooms and washing dishes. Isn’t that the reason you left in the first place, because you’re so pathetic?” She laughed as she watched my cheeks go up in flames.

My hand made contact with her cheek before I could think twice. She let out a gasp and looked at me in disbelief. There was no way I was going to tolerate such disrespect.

“Kayla would be a better girlfriend for Alec than you could ever be!” I shot back.

“Shut up!” she snapped, her voice rising as she finally lost it. Before I could react, she grabbed a fistful of my hair, yanking hard.

The nerve of this woman. Gritting my teeth, I grabbed her hair in return and pulled with every ounce of strength I had.

“You pig!” I said between my teeth.

“Peasant,” she fired back.

A loud growl made us freeze.

“Taylor, let her go now!” my brother growled. She immediately let go, and I followed suit.

“Baby–” Taylor began.

“Don’t say a word.” Alec cut her off.

“Michelle, explain yourself.” Alec’s voice was calm, but his eyes said otherwise. It wasn’t just him looking at me; his wolf was in them too.

“Not if she’s around.” I folded my arms and cast my eyes toward Taylor, knowing full well he would take my side on this.

“Taylor, go inside.” The look of hurt in her eyes almost made me feel bad for her, but it soon faded when she flipped me off.

I smirked and waved at her when Alec had his back to me.

When she was gone, I let out a deep breath.

“In my defense, I came in peace... sort of.”

“What happened?” he asked, his voice holding concern and frustration.

“High-ranking wolves thinking they can push me around because I’m an Omega... you know, the usual.”

Alec pursed his lips. “I’ll have a talk with her.” He took a step closer and ruffled my hair.

“If only I had been born an Epsilon or even a Zeta,” I mumbled, more to myself than to him.

“You need to learn to love and accept who you are,” he said, which, for some reason, bothered me—especially coming from someone who didn’t understand what it meant to be an Omega.

“I’ll try,” I said, and a silence ensued.

“By th–”

“I’m sure you’ve heard,” Alec said, interrupting my next words, “but an important pack will arrive in our territory in a few days.” He said, changing the subject.

“Felix needs a few Omegas to set up the tables, food, and drinks. I heard they’re pretty popular. Maybe you’d like a chance to meet them? Get an autograph even?” he inquired, almost as if he was trying to make amends in some weird way for what Taylor had done.

This was perfect; it was the reason I had come anyway.

“Can I bring a friend?” I asked hopefully.

“Sure.”

“Thanks, Alec. I’m heading home now. Need anything?” I asked.

“No, go get some rest,” he said before stepping into his house and disappearing inside.

The word awkward didn't even begin to describe the mood inside the car as we drove along the icy road. My friends sat on either side of me while Lucas occupied the passenger seat up front. The silence was thick enough to choke on, each of us lost in our own thoughts. Well, almost everyone. Lucas looked perfectly at ease, lounging back in his seat as though this situation was completely normal to him, while I was busy debating whether throwing myself out of the moving vehicle counted as a reasonable escape plan. Just as I was considering my odds of survival, Lucas's gaze caught mine through the rearview mirror. I froze. As I stared into his golden eyes, I found myself caught in their pull. The molten swirls within his irises seemed almost alive, shifting and dancing with an intensity that sent a chill racing down my spine. Still, I swallowed back my nerves and raised an eyebrow at him through the mirror. Lucas tilted his head slightly. "You know," he said, his gaze lingerin

  • Alpha Mine   Chapter 103

You'd think that stepping out of the gloomy prison palace I'd been stuck in for the last day or so would feel liberating. That I'd feel a twinge of joy at finally seeing the birds soaring overhead, gliding across the sky far freer than my miserable self could ever hope to be.But those feelings never stood a chance. Why? Because the moment I stepped outside the palace, I saw him.No, scratch that. I felt him.Sparks ignited across my traitorous chest as my wolf caught sight of the arrogant asshat known as Lucas Visconti. He was leaning casually against a Porsche, dressed in dark navy jeans, a black leather jacket, a black V-neck, and matching black shoes. The smug look plastered across his face made me want to march over there and wipe it clean off."What are you doing here?" I asked, stopping a few feet away from him as irritation crawled up my chest.Zahori had stayed by the door, keeping watch from a distance. William and Chanelle stepped beside me, subtly positioning themselves be

After silently following Zahori through what I'd already started calling the grand palace, and making several twists and turns, we finally came to a stop in a large room. Paintings of wolves lined the walls, and a massive flat-screen TV hung opposite a row of towering windows looking out onto the world beyond."Wait here," Zahori said, heading toward a large door. "I'm getting our rides ready."She paused, her gaze sweeping over the three of us."And don't do anything stupid. The guards are right around the corner."With that, she pushed open the door and disappeared. We watched the door click shut behind her, then slowly turned to face one another."So," William began, a devious smirk spreading across his face, "what should we do now?"Chanelle's forest-green eyes twinkled with mischief as she looked at him."Oh, I don't know. Maybe we should speak to our Alpha."I glanced between them, my heart skipping a beat."How?"William's eyes slid to mine, and he shoved his hands into his jea

The next day, a familiar pair of brown eyes were the first thing I saw when I woke up. I hadn’t even realized I’d fallen asleep or how long I had been out for, though Zahori’s irritated expression made it clear I had probably overdone it.Slowly, I pushed myself upright and rubbed at my eyes as sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room.“Good. You’re finally awake,” she said impatiently. She approached the bed and tossed a dress onto the mattress near my legs. I raised an eyebrow at it before shifting my gaze back to her.“You’ll be wearing this for the tournament today.”I blinked slowly. “Sorry, you must have mistaken me for a Barbie doll.”Zahori crossed her arms. “Don’t make this harder than it needs to be. I don’t particularly enjoy this situation either.”She turned and pointed toward the bathroom door.“Take a shower and get dressed. I’ll do your makeup and hair afterward.”I opened my mouth, then closed it again. I had a feeling the only thing

Once the chaos of the welcoming feast settled, I was escorted back to the room on the far side of the building by two Lycans.Zahori still hadn’t returned from whatever little mission Lucas had sent her on, so now I was stuck with these two filthy mutts instead. We walked for what felt like an eternity until we finally stopped in front of the familiar door. One of them shoved it open before roughly pushing me inside. The moment I stumbled into the ridiculously large bedroom, they slammed the door shut behind me without another word.I didn't hesitate. The first thing I did was search the room for anything I could use to contact my friends. After tearing through the place for several minutes, I found absolutely nothing. Not even a single sharp object careless enough to be left behind. My gaze slowly drifted toward the massive window across the room.It was my only possible way out.But one glance at the enormous drop below made me immediately close the curtains again.Yeah… absolutely

Michelle’s POVPresent TimeThe door slammed open and Nicholas stood before us all, a grin stretched across his face like this was nothing more than an entertaining spectacle for him to crash. And for a brief moment, overwhelming relief flooded through me at the sight of him alive and well. But then I noticed something different. He still looked disheveled, his clothes stained with blood and dirt, yet somehow… stronger. My gaze drifted to the bloody bandages wrapped tightly around his shoulder.Had he removed the silver bullets? It would explain the terrifying strength radiating from him now. Stronger than I had ever seen him before.Around me, the Lycans slowly rose to their feet, their attention locking onto Nicholas and the group behind him.Nicholas simply watched them all as though none of them posed any real threat. From the corner of my eye, I saw Lucas take a slow step forward. Then another.Tension rolled through the room as the two powerful men faced each other head-on, thei

The next morning rolled around, and I woke up to a call requesting my help in the dining room. It was the main area where pack members came together to eat.“So, you and Taylor went at it?” Sofia, a close friend of mine, was saying as she casually leaned against the back door of the break room. I walked around the town until I spotted the pack’s laundromat. Inside, I found a familiar blonde standing in front of a washing machine, his eyes narrowing as he watched it spin. I walked inside the building and stood beside him.“Marcella, making you wash her panties again?” I asked, turning to f

We had just arrived in Alaska, the state in which our territory was located, and I felt colder than a popsicle. Yes, I know wolves lived in the snow, but that didn’t mean our human form didn’t feel cold. Only our fur protected us from the cold.“You should have brought a jacket,” Alec said, breakin

I hated being taken advantage of. Period. Guess what happened to Omegas in my pack? They were taken advantage of by high-ranking werewolves. Now, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Lucky for me, I had an older brother who was an Epsilon, also known as the highest rank below the main chain of comman
