MasukI hated being taken advantage of.
Period. Guess what happened to Omegas in my pack? They were taken advantage of by high-ranking werewolves. Now, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Lucky for me, I had an older brother who was an Epsilon, also known as the highest rank below the main chain of command: Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Gamma. He was the strongest Epsilon in the pack. Thanks to that, he was able to save me from the evil hands of anyone trying to make my life miserable. Even though Alec could be ruthless, he had a soft spot for me, for example, flicking me on the forehead as punishment for running away from the pack. Seriously, who did he think he was? Itachi Uchiha? I rolled my eyes, earning a curious look from him. “You know, people don’t actually roll their eyes in real life. That’s just something that happens in books,” Alec said, making me turn to face him. We were on a plane, heading back to the pack. “Says who?” I sat up straight and turned to look at my brother. He had an elbow on the armchair of his seat while holding up his chin with the palm of his hand. “One of my editors,” he said, flicking me in the forehead. I glared at him as I rubbed my forehead. “You write now?” I asked, shocked. “It’s just a pastime,” Alec smirked. “As long as you’re not writing any romance novels, more power to you,” I said with a grin. “Oh, and you might want to fire that editor. Clearly, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” “Oh, really? Then perhaps you should hire a new editor for me,” he suggested with a curve of his lips. “Do I at least get paid?” I asked, slumping into my chair. Alec began rummaging through his bag, pulling out his laptop and setting it on the small table next to his seat. Without missing a beat, he opened it and began typing. “You’ve got jokes today, don’t you?” he remarked, his eyes still focused on the screen. Curious about what he was doing, I leaned over his shoulder to look. I noticed a series of flower pictures on his screen. One in particular stood out the most: a large flower with purple petals and several leaves trailing down its stem. “What is that?” I asked, pointing at it. “It’s a rare flower that can be either helpful or deadly to wolves, so never touch it,” Alec replied, clicking to the next page. “I see. Are you planning to give it to Taylor or something?” I teased. Alec snorted. “No, and quit being nosy,” he muttered, turning to flick me again. I growled in response. A teenager who was sitting near the row we were in turned to look at me. She gasped. Alec muttered something under his breath, but I couldn’t quite catch it because I was distracted by the look she was giving me. It was a mixture of excitement and awe. “No way!” she exclaimed. Her light green eyes widened as she turned her body towards us. “You guys are werewolves, right?” Her voice practically sparkled with excitement, as if she’d just stumbled upon a hidden gold mine. “Um...” I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. Agreeing to her question would only open me up to an interrogation. “No...” I muttered, hoping a lie might buy me some peace. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work. “But... I just heard you growl! Wow, I have always wanted to meet a werewolf! Do you know Chanelle Winters? She is my favorite werewolf of all time! She has one of the best fashion brands out there; it’s called Winter Woman... I would do anything to meet her. My mom says I should stay away from supernatural creatures because she thinks they are unholy, but you know what? I think she is just closed-minded...” She kept talking, but I tuned her out. Humans rarely saw us in the open since werewolves seldom left their packs to live among them, which made us an endless source of fascination. Thanks to our superior strength and regeneration, humans generally knew better than to mess with us. Simply put, some humans despised us, others admired us, and the rest didn’t care. Unfortunately for us, we had just run into a werewolf fanatic. “So, what’s the name of your wolf pack?” she asked eagerly. “The Moon Cake Squad,” I said sarcastically. The girl didn’t falter; instead, she asked more questions. “Oh, cool, do you really die from a silver bullet? And transform during the full moon? How about wolfsbane? Does it really kill you?” Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. Okay, it was time to end this. I leaned in slightly, my voice dropping an octave. “Let’s just say this,” I began, “I wouldn’t recommend trying to kill us, especially on a full moon. Silver bullet or not, you might find yourself torn limb from limb.” Her expression turned pale. “Oh… thanks for the advice,” she muttered, catching the unspoken warning. She turned away, returning to her seat. “Guess I scared her,” I told Alec after a moment. He didn’t look at me, his gaze fixed on his laptop. “Maybe you should work on your social skills.” I sank back into my chair, closing my eyes. “What are social skills?” I murmured, drifting into a nap.The word awkward didn't even begin to describe the mood inside the car as we drove along the icy road. My friends sat on either side of me while Lucas occupied the passenger seat up front. The silence was thick enough to choke on, each of us lost in our own thoughts. Well, almost everyone. Lucas looked perfectly at ease, lounging back in his seat as though this situation was completely normal to him, while I was busy debating whether throwing myself out of the moving vehicle counted as a reasonable escape plan. Just as I was considering my odds of survival, Lucas's gaze caught mine through the rearview mirror. I froze. As I stared into his golden eyes, I found myself caught in their pull. The molten swirls within his irises seemed almost alive, shifting and dancing with an intensity that sent a chill racing down my spine. Still, I swallowed back my nerves and raised an eyebrow at him through the mirror. Lucas tilted his head slightly. "You know," he said, his gaze lingerin
You'd think that stepping out of the gloomy prison palace I'd been stuck in for the last day or so would feel liberating. That I'd feel a twinge of joy at finally seeing the birds soaring overhead, gliding across the sky far freer than my miserable self could ever hope to be.But those feelings never stood a chance. Why? Because the moment I stepped outside the palace, I saw him.No, scratch that. I felt him.Sparks ignited across my traitorous chest as my wolf caught sight of the arrogant asshat known as Lucas Visconti. He was leaning casually against a Porsche, dressed in dark navy jeans, a black leather jacket, a black V-neck, and matching black shoes. The smug look plastered across his face made me want to march over there and wipe it clean off."What are you doing here?" I asked, stopping a few feet away from him as irritation crawled up my chest.Zahori had stayed by the door, keeping watch from a distance. William and Chanelle stepped beside me, subtly positioning themselves be
After silently following Zahori through what I'd already started calling the grand palace, and making several twists and turns, we finally came to a stop in a large room. Paintings of wolves lined the walls, and a massive flat-screen TV hung opposite a row of towering windows looking out onto the world beyond."Wait here," Zahori said, heading toward a large door. "I'm getting our rides ready."She paused, her gaze sweeping over the three of us."And don't do anything stupid. The guards are right around the corner."With that, she pushed open the door and disappeared. We watched the door click shut behind her, then slowly turned to face one another."So," William began, a devious smirk spreading across his face, "what should we do now?"Chanelle's forest-green eyes twinkled with mischief as she looked at him."Oh, I don't know. Maybe we should speak to our Alpha."I glanced between them, my heart skipping a beat."How?"William's eyes slid to mine, and he shoved his hands into his jea
The next day, a familiar pair of brown eyes were the first thing I saw when I woke up. I hadn’t even realized I’d fallen asleep or how long I had been out for, though Zahori’s irritated expression made it clear I had probably overdone it.Slowly, I pushed myself upright and rubbed at my eyes as sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room.“Good. You’re finally awake,” she said impatiently. She approached the bed and tossed a dress onto the mattress near my legs. I raised an eyebrow at it before shifting my gaze back to her.“You’ll be wearing this for the tournament today.”I blinked slowly. “Sorry, you must have mistaken me for a Barbie doll.”Zahori crossed her arms. “Don’t make this harder than it needs to be. I don’t particularly enjoy this situation either.”She turned and pointed toward the bathroom door.“Take a shower and get dressed. I’ll do your makeup and hair afterward.”I opened my mouth, then closed it again. I had a feeling the only thing
Once the chaos of the welcoming feast settled, I was escorted back to the room on the far side of the building by two Lycans.Zahori still hadn’t returned from whatever little mission Lucas had sent her on, so now I was stuck with these two filthy mutts instead. We walked for what felt like an eternity until we finally stopped in front of the familiar door. One of them shoved it open before roughly pushing me inside. The moment I stumbled into the ridiculously large bedroom, they slammed the door shut behind me without another word.I didn't hesitate. The first thing I did was search the room for anything I could use to contact my friends. After tearing through the place for several minutes, I found absolutely nothing. Not even a single sharp object careless enough to be left behind. My gaze slowly drifted toward the massive window across the room.It was my only possible way out.But one glance at the enormous drop below made me immediately close the curtains again.Yeah… absolutely
Michelle’s POVPresent TimeThe door slammed open and Nicholas stood before us all, a grin stretched across his face like this was nothing more than an entertaining spectacle for him to crash. And for a brief moment, overwhelming relief flooded through me at the sight of him alive and well. But then I noticed something different. He still looked disheveled, his clothes stained with blood and dirt, yet somehow… stronger. My gaze drifted to the bloody bandages wrapped tightly around his shoulder.Had he removed the silver bullets? It would explain the terrifying strength radiating from him now. Stronger than I had ever seen him before.Around me, the Lycans slowly rose to their feet, their attention locking onto Nicholas and the group behind him.Nicholas simply watched them all as though none of them posed any real threat. From the corner of my eye, I saw Lucas take a slow step forward. Then another.Tension rolled through the room as the two powerful men faced each other head-on, thei
I awoke to find a man with silver eyes watching me from above. I jolted upright, nearly colliding with him as he leaned over me. "Crap! What the hell, man? You almost gave me a heart attack!" I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to calm my racing heart. "Good to see you again," the man said softl
Nicholas POV A moment ago I felt as though the world went still, as though for a fraction of a second I did not exist, and strangely enough, I felt this sensation before. When Sofia first appeared at the Shadow Moon gates a month ago. Or had it been longer? Hell, everything before her felt hazy,
Breakfast was over, and I had just finished stacking the last set of clean plates on the counter when Sofia patted me on the shoulder."I saw one of them." She whispered."Who?" I asked curiously."Nicholas Klain," she leaned in, ready to give me the scoop, "Looks like he's hiding in the back of th
Things were about to change, and I wasn’t ready for it.For the past few minutes, someone had been relentlessly knocking on my door.I would have opened it if it weren’t for the fact that I knew the moment I did, the normality I had tried to create would cease to exist. In truth, it would be easier
