Chapter 9 VIP Access Lane

Author: November
Selene's P.O.V

I frowned and looked up.

The man before me was a hotel butler, dressed neatly and carrying himself with a respectful air. When I met his gaze, he inclined his head politely. His posture was respectful, his voice kept low enough that only the two of us could hear.

"Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Lancaster has given instructions. Your car is ready. It is waiting in the VIP access lane. Please follow me."

Blake even arranged a car?

Surprise flickered through me, but relief came just as quickly.

Perfect. It was a legitimate reason to walk away.

"Alright. Please lead the way." I nodded and followed the butler, turning toward the VIP corridor on the opposite side of the lounge.

I could sense someone watching me from behind, but I straightened my back and kept walking, refusing to look back as I quickly left that troublesome place.

Third Person P.O.V

As Selene turned and followed the butler down the side corridor, Christina seemed to sense something. Her gaze drifted across the lobby.

She frowned and tugged lightly on Malcolm's sleeve, then spoke in a hesitant whisper.

"Malcolm, look there. Doesn't that person look a little like Selene?"

Malcolm followed her line of sight. He saw a tall, slender woman being guided by a uniformed butler toward a restricted VIP area.

The silhouette and the way the person walked did look a lot like Selene.

But Malcolm only snorted and shook his head, the usual disdain coating his voice. "Impossible. You're imagining things. This is an exclusive club for Alphas that operates on a strict membership system. She's an Omega. How would she ever get in here?"

He narrowed his eyes at the butler escorting the woman. "And that's a personal attendant. Whoever she is, she's someone important. Selene? She wishes."

Christina relaxed a little, the logic soothing her doubts. She looked again, her gaze lingering on the clean lines and luxurious texture of Selene's outfit. That alone was enough to make her dismiss the idea entirely.

Her tone turned sweet, but it carried a barely noticeable edge of envy and disdain. "You're right. And that outfit is from the newest luxury release, which is insanely expensive. There's no way she could afford something like that, not with the mess she's in now."

Christina must have imagined it.

But as she spoke again, her tone shifted into its usual gentle sweetness, even laced with a hint of worry.

She leaned closer to Malcolm and said softly, "Still, ever since Selene stormed off last time, I've been worried. She's an Omega with no one to rely on out there. What if something happens to her? Maybe we should... try looking for her?"

She already knew Malcolm tended to stand on her side, but she couldn't resist testing him, just to see how he really felt about Selene.

Malcolm's face twisted with impatience. He cut her off with a dismissive wave, his voice cold and firm. "Find her? I have far more important things to do. She's only acting out because I treated her well before. Let her run around and suffer a bit. Once she hits a few walls and realizes how the real world treats someone like her, she'll come crawling back. No reason for me to waste time on this."

He hadn't brought Christina here for leisure.

The only reason he came today was to secure a meeting with Blake, the Alpha of the Nyctilux Pack, and push for a partnership.

That alliance meant everything to his standing within his family.

After waiting a little longer, Malcolm guessed the timing was right. He straightened his suit jacket and walked up to the front desk.

He gave the receptionist what he believed was a polished, respectable smile. "Hello. My name is Malcolm Sullivan. I have an appointment this morning to meet with Mr. Lancaster, Alpha of the Nyctilux Pack. Could you please inform him I'm here?"

The receptionist checked the records, then lifted her head, her expression polite but distant. "I'm sorry, Mr. Sullivan. Mr. Lancaster left the club not long ago."

"What? He left?" Malcolm's expression collapsed instantly. Frustration and regret washed across his face.

He muttered under his breath, "Damn it. Still missed him."

But he quickly pulled himself together, his gaze sharpening with determination.

He needed to secure the deal with the Nyctilux Pack. If he couldn't meet Blake this time, he'd find a way next time.

He wasn't about to let this chance slip through his fingers!

Selene's P.O.VAria let out a little laugh. "Actually, it's nothing serious. I just heard some gossip about Malcolm and thought I'd rush over to make fun of him with you."When I heard that it was just gossip about Malcolm, I finally relaxed. As long as she wasn't in trouble, that was all that mattered. However, I'd lost all interest in whatever she had to say. I said lightly, "What he's up to doesn't concern me anymore."Aria snorted. "Good for you. But you know, I heard his company lost several major clients, his cash flow's tight, and he's been raging in high-level meetings. Yelling at his team, blaming everyone else for his mess, but never himself!"Her voice carried a mix of anger and indignation. "And to think, you spent years keeping those clients happy, drinking and entertaining until your stomach bled and you ended up in the hospital. And him? He just took it all for granted. Now you're gone, and he's lost. I wonder how long he can hold on!"I couldn't help smiling at he

Selene's P.O.VUnder Blake's occasional watchful gaze, I finally finished my breakfast at a slow, measured pace. When I set down my knife and fork, he gave a barely noticeable nod, a silent permission for me to leave. I almost jumped to my feet, grabbed my phone and bag, and headed straight for Aria's house. The moment I walked in, I was met with Aria standing at the entryway. Her arms were crossed, her gaze sharp enough to feel like a spotlight sweeping over me. She scanned me from head to toe, finally stopping at the moonstone ring on my left ring finger. Her eyebrows shot up."Selene Kingsley!" She spat out my name like she was accusing a criminal. "Spill it. When did this happen? How did it happen? And why was my brother next to you first thing in the morning? Don't tell me you two—"I knew I was in the wrong, so I quickly stepped forward. I looped her arm through mine and guided her into the living room, then plastered on a pleading smile. "Aria, don't get so worked up. Let

Selene's P.O.VAt my words, Blake smiled lightly, but his voice stayed calm and steady. "I trust you. As for him..."He paused slightly, his tone carrying a quiet, commanding indifference. "He doesn't have the right to make me jealous."He said it so calmly, yet it carried the absolute confidence and pride of a true Alpha. My chest felt a gentle bump, and a warm ripple spread through me.Being trusted like this was so strange, and yet so precious.I couldn't help but think back to my time with Malcolm. He never liked me interacting with the outside world. If I spoke more than a few words to another man, his face would darken, sometimes curling into thinly veiled mockery. At the time, I had foolishly mistaken his controlling nature for care and fear of losing me. I even secretly felt flattered by it then.Looking back now, I could see it for what it really was. He had been insecure and petty. True care wasn't about control or putting someone down. While I was lost in thought, my

  • Alpha Queen Rising   Chapter 27 Are You Jealous?

Selene's P.O.VI never expected Malcolm to call. Maybe my expression had betrayed me, because Blake had set down his knife and fork. His calm gaze flicked from my phone screen back to my face. His voice was even and unreadable. "What's wrong? You don't look happy."I had nothing to hide. I sat back down at the table with pursed lips, then said with a hint of annoyance, "It's nothing, just a call from Malcolm."Blake picked up his glass of water and took a sip, his tone calm as ever. "Not going to answer? Maybe it's something urgent.""Urgent?" I nearly snorted. "What he considers urgent has nothing to do with me. Even if it was a call telling me tomorrow is his funeral, I wouldn't care to pick up."Thinking back to my last encounter with him in the restaurant only fueled my irritation. I wanted that man erased from my life completely.I reached for my phone and swiftly ended the call. Then, I went into my phone settings and blocked his number without hesitation. The whole proc

Third Person P.O.V.Nathan leaned slightly forward and answered cautiously. "All we know is that she's called Ms. Kingsley. She's extremely mysterious and hasn't been active in the core circles of the pack until recently. She only returned suddenly and confirmed her status. As for her full name and detailed background, we're still doing our best to gather that information.""Kingsley?" Malcolm frowned. The name stirred a faint, almost imperceptible ripple of something unfamiliar in his chest. Why did Lunaris Pack's future Alpha have the same surname as Selene? But then Malcolm snorted and dismissed the thought.Impossible. Selene was just a lone, powerless Omega. How could she have any connection to the prestigious Alpha heir of the Lunaris Pack? The shared surname was probably just a coincidence."Find out everything about her. Quickly," Malcolm said, waving a hand with the familiar edge of command in his tone. "I want to see what kind of woman would dare challenge me.""Yes, A

Third Person P.O.V"And there's more..." Nathan's voice grew a little hoarse. "Over these past three years, you've probably felt the pack running smoothly, with things falling into place almost naturally."But have you ever wondered why the most difficult elders suddenly became reasonable? Why the information you need always seem to arrive at the perfect time? Much of that was Ms. Kingsley working behind the scenes. She analyzed situations, smoothed conflicts, and even took on criticism and pressure for you. For your sake, she hasn't had a single night of real rest these past three years."Nathan watched the storm building on Malcolm's face, but he couldn't hold back any longer. He lowered his voice and added, "Alpha, forgive me if this oversteps. But given everything Ms. Kingsley has done for you, she's the one who can truly support you and stabilize the pack."Compared to Ms. White, who only knows how to demand jewelry and run from responsibility... Ms. Kingsley is the one who sh
