CHAPTER 2 | Her Strange Aura

last update Last Updated: 2021-07-18 19:27:48

Alpha Azraiel Michaelson was attending an important meeting when he received a phone call from his pack. Since his beta Matt knows well enough to not disturb him at such times, he figured something bad had happened. Imagining the worse, the Alpha left the meeting to attend the phone call.

"What?" His low voice shatters the silence in the corridors.

"Sorry to disturb you Alpha. We found a human girl lying unconscious near our north border. She is bitten. We carried her back to the pack and Dr. Humphrey is looking at her." Beta Matt spoke all in one go. He didn't want to anger his Alpha by wasting his time.

There was silence for quite a long time. Azraiel was taken aback by this news. A human...reached near his borders.....alive. How...? This has never happened before. This was a potential security breach. If one human can find their pack lands then so can the others.

"Will she survive? What do you think?" He asked calmly. He was angry alright, but losing his cool right now would get him nowhere. Besides, yelling was not his style.

"I...I don't think she will survive Alpha. She has lost a lot of blood. But....there is something else too Alpha. She...She smells strange."

"Strange...how..?" Azraiel was puzzled.

"She smells stronger than any human I have smelled before. Her aura...it is almost as strong as yours." Matt breathed a quiet sigh after letting it all out.

Azraiel was stunned. A human with an aura almost equal to his, it was nearly impossible. There were only three truebloods remaining in the world. All three of them were unmated and Azraiel was one of them. If she is a human and still has a strong aura...then it could mean only one thing. Azraiel's eyes went wide at the realization of who she could be.

"Matt, listen to me. Increase the security on all the borders. Tell the guards to patrol up to 2 km outside the borders. Stay alert and ask everyone to stay indoors until further notice. We cannot take any risk. We don't know if she came by herself or someone accompanied her here. I am leaving as soon as the meeting ends."

"Yes, Alpha." Matt was relieved. Talking to Alpha definitely made him calmer.

"Now, Let me speak to Kira."

*********

Kira has just finished the phone call with Alpha. He has asked her to keep an eye on the human girl. He didn't want any mishap to happen on the pack land. It would disturb the peace and balance. Following Alpha's orders will not be a problem for her. Even if Alpha hadn't assigned this duty to her, she wouldn't have left the girl alone.

Kira still couldn't shake off what she felt before. It has never happened before. Their Alpha was trueblood and they never got any chance to meet other truebloods. For them, their Alpha's aura was the strongest. However, this human girl's scent and aura had put many questions in her mind.

She spent the next hour making a list of questions in her mind that she would ask the unconscious girl once she wakes up. If she wakes up. Her train of thoughts was interrupted when Dr. Humphrey came out of the room.

"What happened? Will she live?" Kira was anxious.

"I...I haven't seen anything like this before Kira. She has lost a lot of blood but all her organs are working just fine. Her leg looks like it has been chewed by the wolf but her condition is stable. I...I don't know how to say this...but I can feel she is strong. I...I think she will survive." Dr. Humphrey looked perplexed, rightfully so.

A human completing the shift to become a werewolf has never happened before, well at least not in their lifetime. The process of becoming a werewolf was considered the most painful one. It was even more painful for a human to turn into a werewolf since their DNA wasn't designed to be one.

Kira was left breathless. There was a strong chance that this human could complete the shift to become a werewolf. History would be written if that happened. More so, it is supposed to happen in their pack. If the girl survives, then the Blue Orchid pack would become the first pack ever to witness a human shift into a werewolf.

"How much time until she shifts?" Kira asked curiously.

"Around 2 months. Since she is a human, it will take approximately 2 months for the werewolf venom to spread in her body and inter wine with her DNA." Dr. Humphrey answered.

Kira spent the entire night outside the human's room in the medical wing. She still couldn't believe it. There was something very very strange going on. Although this girl was a stranger to her, she felt at ease being outside her room. It was like Kira had known her for a long time, but didn't realize it before. There was a calmness in the medical wing despite being a stranger present on the pack lands that too in the absence of their Alpha.

Werewolves are secretive and ferocious creatures. The Alpha of the pack is supposed to care for the wolves. The wolves feel calmer around their Alpha. He provides a sense of security and belongingness to the werewolves. Without an Alpha, the pack is more prone to risk. The werewolves get tensed and antsy in the absence of the Alpha for too long.

Hence it was strange that a human was lying unconscious in their pack and yet there was this strange serene calmness around. It was as if the Alpha never left as if he was still here on the pack lands.

Kira didn't realize when the sun came up. The night felt nothing more than an hour or two when she was so lost in her thoughts. It was 6 in the morning. The Alpha would be here anytime soon.

Kira hadn't slept all night but she didn't feel tired either. She stood on her feet and started roaming in the corridor again. At some point, she came to a stop in front of the door of human's room. Kira could see her lying on the bed from the small glass panel on the door. The human sent Kira's mind to the land of questions once again.

Just who the hell are you?

While Kira was busy wondering about the stranger, someone was relishing in the events that were unfolding in the Blue Orchid Pack. Someone dangerous has been waiting for a long time. It was now his time to make his presence known to this world.

  • Alpha Raven    CHAPTER 185 | Their interlinked past

Charlotte had just finished the inspection of the ballroom when Azraiel mindlinked her.“We need to talk.”She exhaled a breath of relief. Finally…!The subtle tension that had been curling in her chest since yesterday loosened a little. She’d been waiting for this moment—hoping he’d stop keeping whatever it was from her. Her boots clicked against the polished wooden floor as she turned, ignoring the flurry of activity still unfolding behind her.“I’ll be home in 5 minutes.” She replied quickly and broke into a swift jog, her heart oddly heavy despite the anticipation.Outside, dusk had begun to settle over the horizon. The sky was painted in muted tones of lilac and charcoal, streaked with wisps of cloud that blurred the edges of light. The hum of enchantments being woven into the pack’s outer walls pulsed faintly through the air. Wolves passed by her, nodding respectfully, some too busy stringing fairy lights or placing magical runes to pay her any mind. When she reached home, the l

24:00 Hrs before the Ball The packhouse was alive with noise and purpose. Footsteps echoed off stone floors, voices called out over comms, and faint music from the rehearsal in the ballroom drifted through the halls. Everyone had something to do. Everyone had a task, a role.Charlotte wandered through it like a ghost.Katya’s glamour spell had hidden the burns well—no one could tell by looking at her that the silver flames had nearly torn her apart from the inside out. Her skin looked smooth, even radiant. Her eyes, though ringed with faint shadows, glowed just enough to pass for rest. The magic was perfect. And yet, she felt like a lie walking among the living. The halls bustled around her. Warriors ran logistics, witches reinforced protection charms, and the kitchen staff prepped for the dozens of dignitaries expected at tomorrow’s ball. Kira was busy near the southern border, scanning old journals from her mother between shifts. Katya was in the east wing, working on reinforcing Az

  • Alpha Raven    CHAPTER 183 | Charlotte is awake

Azraiel sat still as stone on the chair beside Charlotte’s bed, his hands clasped loosely together, elbows resting on his knees. The soft beeping of the monitors filled the quiet room, a rhythmic reminder that she was still breathing. She was still here. But gods, it didn’t feel like it.His golden eyes were fixed on her face—peaceful, pale, too still. Her body was wrapped in healing bandages, the angry red and blackened burns visible in the few places the linen didn’t cover. Even the smell of charred skin hadn’t fully faded. His throat tightened. It reminded him so vividly of the day he first saw her. Unconscious. Her face just as pale. Her breathing just as faint. And him…sitting just like this, staring at her like she was the center of his universe.Back then, he hadn't known who she really was. But now...Now, she was everything. And she was hurt.He reached out slowly, delicately taking her hand in his. Careful. Reverent. Like the slightest pressure might shatter her completely.A

Weren’t they?Yeah... she tried to summon some courage. They really couldn’t hurt her. They needed her to survive... right? She shoved aside the fear curling tight in her chest like a coiled snake. As if the wolf sensed her inner struggle, it nudged her leg again—gentle, insistent."Fine. Fine..." she muttered under her breath.Drawing in a shaky breath, Charlotte stepped forward. She stopped barely ten steps from the woman—herself, yet not. Every nerve in her body buzzed. She could feel the power radiating from the group around her, the thick, charged air crackling with supernatural energy. She poured all her focus into neutralizing her expression, forcing calmness into her tone even as her heart pounded."Are you...?" she began, voice wavering slightly. The vampire cut her off, lips curling into a smirk."Yup," she said casually. "We are You."C

  • Alpha Raven    CHAPTER 181 | Do I know who I am?

Charlotte’s head feels like she has been hit with multiple hammers a thousand times over. A sharp, pulsating pain courses through her skull, making her groan softly. Her throat is dry, her limbs feel like lead, and her eyes itch as she struggles to open them. What the hell is going on?Where is she?The last thing she remembers is an angry voice screaming “RAVEN!”, and then… nothing. She puts every bit of strength left in her body into forcing her eyes open. It takes effort, but after a few agonizing seconds, she finally manages to pry them open. The first thing she sees is the vast expanse of tree leaves above her, their thick canopy allowing only thin slivers of sunlight to pierce through. She barely catches a glimpse of the sky in between the dense leaves.Great. More trees. That narrows down the place, she thinks sarcastically.A groan escapes her lips as she tries to sit up. Every movement feels like she is dragging a boulder attached to her body. Her limbs protest, but she pushe

  • Alpha Raven    CHAPTER 180 | Charlotte calls out

Azraiel leaned back into the sofa, letting out a loud sigh, his frustration is evident in the way his shoulders slumped. Ayleen sat beside him, her small hand lightly clasping his. She knew her touch offered him no real solace, but it brought her a sense of grounding she desperately needed. People often saw her as delicate, a young woman barely stepping into adulthood, sheltered and untainted by the harshness of life. They were wrong. What they didn’t see—what she kept hidden behind her soft smiles and quiet demeanor—was the weight of grief she had carried for years. She had witnessed heartbreak and loss, endured the kind of pain that left invisible scars, and yet here she was, sitting strong and steady beside Azraiel. Her fragile appearance was a mask; beneath it was a will forged by fire, stronger than most in their world. She tightened her grip on his hand slightly, as much for her own reassurance as to remind him she was there—not weak, not afraid, but ready to face whatever came
