Chapter 8: The Truth Shall Set You Free

For a very brief moment, Adriana thought she had had a very long and detailed dream.

The surrounding air felt chilly and damp, just like in the Turnbull's basement. It even smelled the same; the moldy scent of oldness filled her nose. Maybe she was just waking up after three days in the basement, and none of the things she remembered had happened.

Something was different, though. The surface beneath her was softer. She didn't remember bringing in one of her mattresses to the basement. And the light was too bright.

When she finally opened her eyes, she audibly gasped. This place wasn’t Turnbull’s basement, and someone had changed her clothes.

Her eyes widened when she realized that regardless of where she was, this meant Adriana was free of the Turnbulls. No more Rhonda or Luna Mona abusing her, no more Alpha Darien breaking her bones for the most ridiculous things.
