Chapter 40: Chaos

Snapping awake, I felt like something was wrong. I didn’t have time to dissect that Ryker was no longer in my bed. I didn’t know what had woken me, but I quickly got dressed. I made it halfway down the stairs before I felt the ground beneath my feet shake.

Grabbing onto the wall to steady myself, I waited for it to pass before rushing down the remaining stairs. Whatever I thought I was going to find when I pushed open the door, this wasn’t it. It was like chaos had broken out.
