Chapter 30

SHANE

I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw Jason, his face set in a grim expression.

"The headmaster wants to see you," he said. "It's important."

My heart sank. What could the headmaster possibly want with me? I followed Jason to the headmaster's office, my mind racing with a million possibilities.

I couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was about to happen.

When I stepped into the headmaster's office, I was greeted by a familiar face.

Connor, my friend from the city, was sitting behind the desk. He grinned at me, his eyes twinkling.

"You should've seen the look on your face," he said, laughing. "You thought I was going to be some scary old man, didn't you?"

I was so relieved to see him, I could hardly believe it. But then I remembered that I had met him here before, however it didn’t come to my knowledge that he would be the headmaster.
