YELENA

“I told you to get ready hours ago. Do you want us to arrive at midnight?” I frowned, leaning against the doorframe as Nyra struggled with the zipper at her back.

“It’s not my fault I didn’t see this dress earlier,” she retorted, her face scrunched in frustration. I sighed and walked toward her.

“Let me,” I muttered. She dropped her hands with a defeated sigh. She’d been stubborn about us wearing similar dresses tonight. I didn’t understand why. We weren’t twins. The moon goddess didn’t birth us under the same star.

But she said it made her feel like we faced things together. Mine was soft blush pink, hers was snow white. If not for the colors, we would’ve looked like little girls going to a festival at Grandma’s house.

Her dress was short, lace, with tiny silver stones that caught the light beautifully. Mine was similar but off-shoulder, showcasing my neck and collarbones. I had a delicate chain resting over my skin, the small crescent moon pendant glowing faintly.

Her dress

YELENAWe started eating anyway.I swallowed the tightness in my throat, pretending the food was the only thing I cared about. Nyra sat beside me, her fork untouched. I knew she felt it too, the way the room felt heavy like the moon pressed its weight on us. Still, I forced myself to chew, act normal, even when Livia leaned into Tristan like she was trying to merge with him. She dragged her fingers against his arm, whispered something I couldn’t hear. Then she picked up a piece of meat and tried to feed him.He frowned but still opened his mouth. My hand tightened around my fork.Of course he did.I looked at my plate instead. It didn’t matter. That pain inside me... that burning I hated shouldn’t even exist. Why did I still feel anything watching them? How could I ever think he would leave her? That we would ever stop living like strangers with history?I pushed the feeling down and focused on the food. Just chew. Swallow. Breathe.“This is delicious as always,” Mr. Crossword commen

YELENA“Can you imagine? How can he even say that to you?” Nyra groaned, throwing her arms in the air. “Was he that heartless that he thinks someone can wake up and just ruin a whole man’s life?”I exhaled, staring at the ceiling like it had answers. I had just finished telling her everything from how Tristan appeared, to every crazy word that came out of his mouth. She was pacing like a wolf trapped inside a cage.I finally sat up and hugged her. “I’m sorry,” I said softly. “I should've told you about our first encounter. I should’ve told you before I agreed not to purchase that building.”She stiffened a little then hugged me tighter. “No. Lena. You should’ve told me right, but even if you had, I would still not buy that place. We can always buy another building somewhere. It's not a big deal.”I smiled lazily. “It’s a huge deal.”She pulled back and narrowed her eyes like she was studying me closely. “If that man thinks he can just step back into your life and dominate it again, th

YELENA“Stay away from me!” I yelled this time, louder, firmer like maybe volume would make him listen. It didn’t.Tristan moved faster than I expected and slammed me gently but firmly against the cold tiled wall. His hand caged the side of my head while his other arm blocked my escape.“Why should I, huh?” he growled softly, his eyes boring into mine. “Why should I stay away after looking for you for years?”My eyes widened. I blinked twice. Did I hear him clearly? Or did he hit his head on something on the way here?Looking for me?I let out a bitter laugh. “Stop talking nonsense. You and I both know you’d never...”“Because you ruined my life!” he snapped, cutting me off. That shut me up.“What?” The word slipped out before I could catch it.His chest rose and fell as if he’d been carrying those words for too long. “When you left, you took everything with you,” he said, his voice breaking with frustration. “You took my success. My happiness. My wolf.”My stomach dropped. What the a

YELENA“Welcome, Alpha Tristan,” the director said quickly, his voice was a little too rushed. It was obvious he just wanted to cut the tension that had suddenly gripped the room like an iron fist.Tristan gave a curt nod and walked over to the chair that had been set aside for him. He didn’t even glance at us as he sat; his posture was straight, and his aura was cold enough to drop the temperature.Daniel followed and sat beside him, but unlike Tristan, he couldn’t stop staring at me. His brows pinched together like he was trying to remember a face he’d seen in a dream. A very unfortunate dream.Yep. That’s me. Your nightmare.I tore my gaze away before either one of them could catch it and ended up locking eyes with Jackson. His dark eyes gave me that look... half worry, half silent question. He felt the tension. Probably could smell it too. Especially because Tristan wasn’t just any Alpha. Jackson knew him. And he knew the reason why I pushed him away when we first met. Tristan was

YELENAIt had been a whole week and I still couldn't get him out of my head. His voice wouldn’t stop replaying in my mind.“You're Yelena to me.”What the hell did that even mean? And what was he trying to say about my scent? What did it do to him exactly? He never finished. He just looked at me like he wanted to drag the words out of himself before I stopped him. Rubbish. After all these years, he'd better not stand in front of me again. The past should stay buried. Dead. He wasn't allowed to resurrect it.A sharp hiss escaped me without knowing.“What’s wrong, Lena? Why did you hiss like that?” Nyra looked at me with raised brows.I blinked, forcing a smile that clearly wasn’t ready to show up today. “It’s nothing.”She didn’t buy it. Of course, she wouldn’t.“You’ve been off this week,” she pressed, quiet but firm. “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”I shook my head again, wishing I could just calm the hell down. But my mind was restless, my wolf pacing inside me like she wante
