1. Mating Ball

I stared blankly at the window furiously arguing and debating with myself if I should embark on this mission. I’d decided to put an end to all these sorts of crimes but again, this one involves huge sum of money.

“I don’t think we should do this, Amelia.” My inner wolf cautioned.

I was hired on a mission to steal an original copy of a gold artefact in the National museum which is way secured. The hardest part is that the gold artefact is the only copy in the whole world.

It worth $20.6 million, if I successfully steal it, I would be given $1.2 million. I sighed.

“I’m sorry, Jee. I already made up my mind.”

“And what’s that?”

“I’m so in.” Jennie just sighed giving up totally.

I got up and got dressed in my mission suit I’d chosen by myself. An over-sized black hoodie to cover up my face partially, black leather jeans. I grabbed my black boots and put it on.

I scurried towards my weapon room and quickly filled my outfit with weapons just in case something went wrong. I placed three pocket knives in my pocket, then picked up a small pistol with three shots and tugged it in my bra.

I filled my boots with sharp, tiny, metallic circle blades. Last but not the least I sprayed a tiny deodorant to keep my scent low for a while. I packed my smooth raven hair in a pony tail to avoid distraction. I got my hair colour from my mom, I missed them a lot.

“I’m ready.”

“You’re definitely not.”

“And why is that, Jee?”

“I don’t know. Maybe because you didn’t actually silence your pistol kept in your bra right next to what’s preserved to our mate.”

I sighed.

I silently silenced the pistol. I just don’t know how I became bad news for the world honestly. Ever since mum and dad passed away, I just started feeding for myself, engaged myself in theft, kidnapping.

And I got worse at it.

I couldn’t control myself; I just needed the money. Jennie and I are always afraid the day we meet our mate, he might reject us.

“Please try not to kill my vibe on my last mission tonight, Jennie” I pleaded as I switched off my lights and jumped out of the window. I never use my door; you never know what’s lurking there.

I got in my black motorcycle and zoomed off. I was figuring my plan in my head. I always use my wolf senses to carry out any mission. It helps a lot in the human world.

I parked my motorcycle far away from the museum. I got down from it and began walking with my feet. I halted when I sighted guards all over guarding every corner of the museum with guns in their hands.

I silently sneaked to the backyard; I sighted two men who were back facing me. I silently cracked their neck watching them fall to the floor. I quickly climbed the walls and entered an illuminated room through the window.

I went for the main current and switched it off causing everywhere to go dark. I can see well in the dark due to my wolf sight. Just as I turned it off, an alarm went on indicating that there is an intruder.

I began hearing heavy footsteps from far distance and a man barking orders to his men. The smell of blood, sweats hit my nose. I frowned. This was definitely fresh blood. My eyes widened as I began scanning my environment.

They were lot of dead bodies of random people, policemen, security guards all killed and some of their head busted. I listened with my hearing, the voice of the man barking orders had increased.

“Go check, everyone! And every single room. You, take the treasure into the van, now!!” he yelled at his men. They didn’t seem like forces. They are here for the artefact also.

Bandits…

I was trapped in a museum with deadly armed bandits. I began panicking. Bandits. I fucking detested them. They were the ones who murdered my parents right in front of me heartlessly.

“Amelia get out of here, now!!” Jee yelled loudly in my head. I turned back heading back to the window I came from and luckily, I found it.

Just as I was about to jump out, the door swung open revealing four men aiming their gun at me. I quickly jumped down dodging the shots fired at me, causing the glass to shatter and fall to the floor.

I landed with my feet, and a voice yelled at me.

“Hey, stop!!”

I ignored him and started running so fast with my wolf speed. But then, I was getting tired so as Jee. I became slower and I could tell they were catching up with me.

“Jee, what are we going to do? They are getting close already?” I said letting panic take the best of me.

“I can see that, Amelia. I warned you, didn’t I?”

“Yes, and I’m truly sorry.”

“There!”

“What?”

“There is a building over there, take the chances,”

I let out a sigh of relief. I quickly got into the building and slammed the door shut. I locked it from inside. I watched as the bandits went away on their horses. I sighed.

I turned to meet an empty hallway; I could hear music, chants from a room. I slowly followed where it came from and stepped into the room. I gasped at my sight.

It was a big ballroom, shiny dresses everywhere, laughter, and music. The smell of wine, perfume, food, alcohol, sweats hit my nose. I sighed knowing I was safe in here.

I edged my hoodie on my head, tucked my hands in my pocket, bowed my head down and started walking through the crowd. I scrunched my nose at the unpleasant smell each and one perceive like when I passed by them.

“No, no!!”

“What?”

“It’s not just a ball, Amelia, it’s a mating ball!”

My eyes widened at my realization.

“No, Jee. I know that we’ve been waiting for this moment but definitely not now! Not while those bandits are out there, I’m in an over-sized hoodie, what if he rejects us instantly? Or those bandits…

Oh my God…

What could possibly go wrong tonight?
