Alpha Draven POV

What had they done to my mate? My beautiful little mate. I had gone to the dungeon to see the prisoners. I wanted to go before I was called away, but the war of the packs would not wait for me. I had ordered the prisoner they found living in a cave, to be taken care of instead, my guards had tortured, raped, beaten, whipped, and impregnated my mate before beating her to cause miscarriage. How had my guards, wolves I trusted ever thought I would order them to do that?

When I returned, I headed into the prison. I wanted to finally set the innocents free. When I opened the door, the scent of blood and sex was so thick, that I was nearly sick. Among the horrid smell, came the sweet scent of sage and lavender. Mate! My wolf purred. I could feel her nearby. I came to a cell that disgusted me. There was blood everywhere, a bloody dirt-covered mattress lay in the corner. I froze when I realized her scent was mixed in with the blood and filth in this cell. My wolf howled as I raced down the line of prison cells. I came to a door that was locked from the inside. I heard the sounds of a whip cracking, followed by the screams of a girl. Not just any girl, my mate! They were whipping my mate! She is dying! I could feel her life force fading. I broke down the door using my Alpha strength. I gagged at the sight. My guards, who I trusted to protect my people including anyone imprisoned, whipping a tiny skinny girl. She hung there, blood-spattered everywhere.

“You keep getting pregnant! Then you bite one of us? This is your punishment! We would never let you keep one of our babies!” They all froze when they saw me.

“Alpha Draven, we were not told you had returned.” One of them, a taller wolf said. I could hear the fear in his voice.

I circled them dangerously. “How many times did you touch her?” I snarled.

“I don’t know,” one of them stuttered.

“I heard you tell her she was being punished for being pregnant. Did you Impregnant her?” I needed to know what they had done to her.

The first guard laughed, “Don’t worry Alpha, she has been pregnant a bunch of times. There is no worry of her babies running around, we have made sure she miscarries every time.” He laughed as if I would find this funny. “Alpha, we tortured her for her crimes. I even took her virginity. She bled for a while after that. I really fucked her good.” He smiled. “If you want, we can take her down and you could have a go.”

“What crimes was she convicted of?” I asked. Still watching them.

“I don’t know. I thought this was Lydia the wolf who poisoned your food.”

“Wrong! I killed her! Even if it was Lydia, there is no excuse for raping and torturing any living creature! How many of you touched her?” I growled.

“I um,” the guard stuttered.

“How many?” I thundered my eyes turning pitch black.

“Just the four of us.” Stammered the one holding the rope.

“You four are the only ones who raped her, beat her, and caused her miscarriages?” I was trying to keep my voice even.

“Yes, Alpha,” they all said.

Without another word, I pulled out my sword. I killed each one. They had no right to hurt a prisoner. Not to mention, they hurt my mate.

I ripped the chains holding her, off. She was limp, I ran out, with her in my arms, yelling for a doctor. When I got outside, she squeezed her eyes shut tighter. At least she is alive.

I ran to the pack doctor. He looked shocked to see me holding a tiny girl who appeared dead.

“Bring her this way,” he opened the door to a room. There was a bed in the center.

I set her down on it. “Please, you have to save her.”

“Who is she?” he asked.

“I don’t know, but she is my mate.”

It was touch and go for a long time with her. Her wolf was weak but alive. She had been held in that jail, beaten and raped, for so long. I thought for sure I would lose her. I had her moved to my quarters in the packhouse. I had a room prepared for her. I would sit with her, holding her hand. She was so frail. I still had to attend to my duties so I couldn’t always be with her; I would go to her room every chance I had.

As the days turned into weeks, she got stronger. Her wounds from her whipping had healed, but some of the deeper ones still needed a bit more time. I made sure she received a sponge bath when needed. I was surprised when the doctor performed an internal examination and that he believed she would still be able to carry pups.

A month had passed. She had gotten better yet; she did not wake up. I sat at my desk trying to think of ways to help her.

“Alpha, our Luna is out here. She collapsed and is in the fetal position. I think my uniform scared her.”

She is awake? How did she get outside? I raced from my office to where the guard was. Lying on the ground, in a tiny little ball, was my mate.

“Are you ok?” I tried. She didn’t look at me. I carefully scooped her up. She was holding her body so tightly, that I thought she would freeze that way.

I carried her back to the packhouse. I put her gently on the bed. She held on tighter to herself. I could hear her sniffle.

I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to hold her, to comfort her. I wanted to tell her I had killed the men who had done this to her. I wanted to tell her she is my mate, that I wanted her. I wanted to get to know her. I wanted to build a life with her. I had been waiting for her for so long. I was not a virgin, but none of them meant anything to me.

I sat in the chair next to her bed. She was awake. I could hear her sniffling. I sat quietly. I wanted to touch her, I wanted her to know I would never hurt her.

I must have dozed off at some point. I woke up to someone watching me. I looked around. I noticed a green eye watching me from under the blanket. I didn’t move. I didn’t say anything. She watched me for a few more minutes. I sat still; I would wait for as long as it takes for her to trust me. She slid the blanket down the tiniest little bit. I nearly gasped when I saw both eyes. One was a deep emerald color. The other was a deep sapphire blue. She slid the blanket down a bit more. I knew she was beautiful, but I had no idea just how beautiful she really is. I slid back in my chair a little. She jumped and pulled the blanket up over her head.

Damn, why did I move? I decided to try to speak to her. I had already scared her. “It’s ok. I promise I won’t hurt you.” I made my face as gentle as I possibly could. I wasn’t called the Alpha of war for no reason. I saw a green eye peer out from under the banket.

I held out my hand. “See? I won’t hurt you.” She recoiled at my outstretched hand. I folded my hands, dropping them in my lap. I sat still. “I have an idea, how about I sit still. I promise I won’t move. You can come out, you can investigate me if you get scared, I will leave.

She watched my face; I had the feeling she was deciding if she should believe me. I watched as she slowly slid the blanket down. She had both eyes watching my every move. Slowly, she slid the blanket down a bit more. I still didn’t move. I was barely breathing. She got brave and slid the blanket down to her feet. She slipped her legs over the edge of the bed. She stood up. Her legs shook as she stood. She tripped; it took everything in me not to reach to catch her. She regained her balance, she watched me carefully. I could hear her heartbeat racing as she tried to decide to stay or run. She must have decided I would catch her. She took a finger, poking my face, I felt the tingles from her touch. She must have felt them too because she pulled her hand away.

“It’s ok, I promise. I will not hurt you.”

She had a confused look on her face. She looked at me and then at her finger.

“It’s ok, you feel the tingles because I am your mate.”

She froze, watching me as though I was going to hurt her at any second, she reached out again. This time, she rubbed my cheek with her hand. I wanted to sink into her touch. I wanted to rub my face against her hand. Instead, I stayed still.

She took her hand back. She looked at me as if trying to decide if I was telling the truth.

“Did you feel the tingles too?”

She shook her head yes.

“Do I smell good to you?”

Once again, she nodded a yes.

Do you want to keep investigating me?”

Yes, she nodded once more.

I stayed still as she continued to touch me. I nearly lost control when she sniffed my neck. I stifled a moan as her breath flowed over my marking spot, where I hoped her mark would be.

She reached for my hand. I didn’t know what she was doing. She pulled it to her face, she inhaled my scent. I wanted to pull her to me, to hold her and get lost in her. I pushed those thoughts away. She put my hand on her face. She closed her eyes as she slid my hand up and down her cheek. She opened her eyes and watched me. She let go of my hand, I sat still with my hand suspended in the air. She looked at my hand, then at me. She poked my hand before placing her cheek against my palm. She then pointed to me and back at my hand.

“You want me to rub your cheek?” I asked praying I wasn’t imagining it.

She slowly nodded yes. I did as she asked. She closed her eyes enjoying my hand on her face. I stayed still gently moving my hand on her cheek.

Aura's POVI woke up to find my Draven curled around me. The twins were sleeping soundly in their bassinet. I snuggled deeper against my mate. I let his scent soothe my worry. I couldn't help thinking about the young she-wolf locked in the prison. What if she was being hurt or worse? I wanted to go to her, to see for myself she is being cared for but that meant returning to the hell I had lived myself. I cringed as the memories started their relentless assault on my mind. I closed my eyes as I remembered the first time the guard had raped me. I have come so far from the scared little she-wolf I had been. Carefully I wiggled out of the grasp of my mate. I grabbed some clothes and threw them on, I quietly left the room. The twins were having bottles now with my milk, my body knew they needed to eat and was producing enough to feed a small army. I kissed them gently smiling as small smiles appeared on their lips before quickly disappearing again. I made my way to the door leading out of

I knew those fools would take her in. I had beaten her bad enough nobody would suspect that she would be helping me. I sat back feeling the end of Draven getting closer. I took a sip of my scotch before hearing what sounded like a scuffle outside my door. "Shut the hell up!" I snarled. I gulped the last bit of scotch as I stood up. Why did these idiots insist on bothering me! I swung the door open, the hall was empty. I slammed the door, as I strode back to my desk, I grabbed another bottle of scotch before settling down in my chair. I poured myself another glass, as I was about to take a sip, I heard the noise again. I slammed my glass on the desk. "Who ever is out there come here now!" I roared using my command. The door opened slowly, standing there was my Beta and his mate. I signaled for them to come in. "Alpha Karn, we have come to ask your blessing, we have discovered my mate is indeed pregnant. I would like to ask you to bless the pup and my mate for a safe and easy pregnancy

  • Alpha's Aura   Chapter Forty Seven

The moon was bigger than I remember. The last time I saw it I was standing with my mate, now I am alone. How could I have let this happen? I need her, I can’t live without her. I had never known what having a mate could feel until I found her. I had willed her to live when I found her that day. Now I had lost her and it is my fault. I looked down at the blood soaked sheet covering her. Her tiny body so still. She was chosen by the Moon Goddess to fulfill the prophecy. We had both been tricked but how? How had they gotten to her so easily? I had hidden her away from the world, how did they find her? I pulled the sheet down, I had to see her one last time. Aura lay unmoving, her eyes dull and lifeless. I leaned in to kiss her one last time. “Aura, no!”I sat up, a cold sweat dripping over my body. It had been a nightmare. Little hands gently touched my arm soothing me. “You ok?” She asked looking at me with those eyes that were now filled with worry, worry for me.“ I am now,” I told he

  • Alpha's Aura   Chapter Forty Six

Aura's POVI spent the day trying to take care of the twins without my mate's help. I was tired after a long night of mourning the loss of Alpha Oren. It was very sad. Draven stood in front of everyone as we all said our goodbyes. Most of Brightmoon's pack had perished in the attack. I had no idea how Luna Adina had made it out alive. Draven had said he saw a different light coming from me and Luna Adina said the same light had enveloped her when she thought she was about to die. I guess it was something to do with my abilities from what I had overheard. I don't know for sure but I think there is more to this than anyone is telling me. I guess they think I can't handle it but I can! I have gotten much stronger. I looked down at Falcon who was sleeping soundly in my arms. His little face scrunched up before he settled back down. Ember should be waking up to eat soon. They both loved to eat. Ember looked so much like me except for her jet-black hair which she got from her father. Falco

The minutes seemed like hours as we waited for the convoy to arrive. I couldn't help but be on edge. I knew Luna Adina would never lie but maybe she had been hurt enough to lose her memory? I would have to wait till they arrived and see for myself. Aura was lying down on a cot I had brought in for her. The twins both slept in their bassinets. I hoped for her the reports were true, Luna Adina had indeed made a miraculous recovery. I heard the code word come through telling us the convoy was here. I had been pacing while I waited for them to arrive. I had various security checkpoints set up to ensure there was nothing that could lead the enemy to our location. As the convoy entered the tunnel leading into the underground bunker, I waited for the all-clear before I cautiously approached. Sitting in the front seat giving orders to my men was Luna Adina. She had indeed made a miraculous recovery. I watched as Kendall was carefully unloaded from the back of a truck and gently placed on a s

I paced around my office. How had this happened? Brightmoon was supposed to be eliminated! I knew Oren was dead but that bitch Adina had lived. I wanted them dead! My own brother had betrayed me in the name of the mate's bond! Ha! I would kill them all! My brother would watch me kill his mate! I will rip out her throat! I heard someone at the door, "What!" I snarled. The door opened revealing my Beta. "Well? How many survived?" I growled. "Only a few. Oren is dead. I have news," he said his voice quivering with fear. "What news?" I snarled, my annoyance growing by the second. "The Queen gave birth to her pups. A girl and a boy. They fit the description of the twins from the prophecy meaning she is truly the queen."I stopped, "she gave birth? The pups are alive?" I could feel my anger growing. She wasn't supposed to have his pups! She's to have my pups!"Yes Alpha, the pups are said to be healthy and strong." Taloc knew my plan."You find a way to bring her to me!" I thundered en

Why now? I raced along the path heading to my control center. I was helping Aura with diaper changes when the alarm went off. I knew it wasn't a dire emergency but I had to go. I knew Karn was lurking out there waiting for his moment to strike. I nearly ripped the door off the hinges when I realized I was letting my anger get the best of me. Inside, all eyes were on me. I looked down noticing bits of fur springing from my skin. "Alpha, what happened? Are you alright? Are the twins and Aura alright?" Valerie asked, fear on her face. "What? No, nothing happened, everything is fine." I tried to calm my wolf as I tried to get the fur to dissipate. "What is the alarm about? You said there was an attack?" I said coming back to my senses. "Yes, Alpha, our neighbors have suffered a huge attack. There is talk the entire pack may have been wiped out. The reports from our scouts said they had not found any survivors. It seems we may have lost another pack." "Who is it?" I waited, my wolf wa

  • Alpha's Aura   Chapter Forty-One

The next few days felt like a dream, Ember and Falcon ate and slept but mostly, they stole our hearts. Draven was so careful with them. He was always running about checking on them and me. I didn't know it was possible to love someone so much in such a short amount of time. We were getting ready to leave the pack hospital and return to the safe house. Only a few knew we were heading to a much more secluded place. Now that the twins were here, word of their birth had spread quickly. I knew Draven would keep us safe but the threats against them had already started. The pack war continued meaning we were not safe. "How are you feeling?" Draven's voice interrupted my thoughts. I smiled, "Aura ok," I said. My wolf had healed me from birth soon after I delivered my pups. "I think I have everything packed and ready to go. We will be deep in the forest, there won't be anyone around. Only three others know where we are going," Draven explained. I knew he would do anything to protect us.

  • Alpha's Aura   Chapter Forty

Aura’s POV I felt another pain coming, the doctor was sitting by my feet waiting for the first head of my pups. “Aura, push with this contraction, I will count down. Five, four, three, two, one, push!” he said as I pushed with all of my strength trying to expel my pups from my body. “Almost, I saw the top of a head, one more time, are you ready?” he asked. I didn’t bother to answer, I was so tired. I have to do this twice, I sucked in a breath as another contraction began its climb. I pushed hard this time knowing my wolf was helping as best as she could. This time, I heard a baby cry, it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard. Tears fell from my eyes, not from the pain, but from the love I felt for this tiny little life. “Congratulations, Luna, and Alpha, you have a son!” the doctor exclaimed as he handed my son to a nurse. Draven was looking over to watch what they were doing with our son. He looked back at me, and I was surprised to see the tears trickle down his face.
