Sam’s POV

As the words came out of my mouth, Zola questioned whether I had lost my mind. I know I sounded crazy. But as I stared at the black wolf lying on my floor. I could not help but see his future, or the lack of it. He would be a dead man if he returned to his pack handicapped. He would either be challenged and killed or banished. No self-respecting Alpha would remain in a pack after being defeated. He would become a rogue and then what? Zola said nothing. Although she had her concerns, she knew I was right. “Have you considered the possibility that he’s a bad Alpha?” Zola asked.

“Have you considered the possibility that he’s a good Alpha?” I countered. She sighed, but I was adamant I wanted to do this. “I guess we will find out when he wakes up.”

“I will keep him safe until he can make a life for himself. I’m going to help him, just like you help me.” I told Ellie, who was still convinced this was a bad idea. I didn’t tell Ellie that he might be able to offer Zola the wolf

Sam’s POV “Do you remember anything about who you are?” I asked him hopefully. He tried to speak, but no words came out. Eventually, he admitted defeat and shook his head.“It’s like there is a block stopping me from remembering. I know they are there. I just can’t get to them.” He pulled his hair in frustration.“My sister told me she had amnesia when she was young. The doctors told her that her memories would come back in time.” I told him, repeating what Ellie had once told me.“How long did she have to wait until her memories returned?” he asked hopefully.“It must have been 20 years ago, and they still haven’t returned,” I told him truthfully. He shook his head again, then covered his face with his hands. “Despite not knowing who she was or if she had a family. She made a life for herself, a place to call home, and a job she loves. Not to mention an amazing sister.” I say, touching my chest. “What I am saying is, she may not have her memories. But that didn’t stop her from becom

Nolan’s POV Sam is an amazingly kind young woman. She has supported and provided for me while I waited for my mind to fix itself. It doesn’t stop me from being frustrated with myself. No matter who I am, I am confident I am not dependent on anyone. But Sam is there for me whenever I need anything. She may get things wrong, but she will try. Like when she shaved my face, she must have cut a dozen times. But my poorly shaven face was intact when I looked in the mirror. When I first met Sam, she got me a few items from her gym friend. There was a condition attached. I was to meet them. Not being able to get around. That would have to wait as the crutches Sam gained for me felt so unnatural. They were far too small for a man of my height, and it took me a while to figure out how to use them effectively.I didn’t know what a thrift shop was, just that Sam would return home with some random items from there. Sadly, though, the clothes she would get me were too small. But anything was bette

Nolan’s POV The ambulance arrived in good time, but it was already too late. Moments later, a police car pulled up, asking us to step aside so the medics could do their jobs. I had Frank’s blood on my hands, but Sam’s white karate uniform was covered. She held on to me and cried for him.We were taken to the police station for questioning. They also wanted our clothes for any forensic evidence. We were been escorted from the changing rooms to a young officer’s desk to make a statement. As we took a seat, He pulled out a pad and pen. “I’ll make this quick.” He told us, “It’s unlikely that anything will come of the shooting. He was just a homeless bum, after all.”I was utterly speechless at the officer’s attitude. I had this urge to rip his head off. But my lack of words allowed Sam to tell him what was on her mind. She got to her feet and leaned over the desk. “How dare you?” She sneered at the officer. “Frank may not have had a roof over his head. But he was a human being and a cowa

Sam’s POV It was like reliving my worst nightmare. But when I heard Nolan’s voice, I knew it wasn’t real. He wasn’t there, no one was. My eyes snapped open, and that’s when I knew I would never escape what happened. I pulled the blanket closer and cried my eyes out. Zola’s words of comfort didn’t reassure me. “How can I control what happens when I’m asleep?” I asked her, to which she didn’t respond. “How can I help?” Nolan gently asked. Too distressed to respond, I just cried. The next thing I knew, Nolan was stroking my hair and telling me he would do anything to make the pain go away. “I wish it was that easy,” I told him as I calmed down. Those traumatic events are going to live in my mind forever. Perhaps Nolan has gotten lucky by not remembering his past. But then again, I wouldn’t remember Zola or Ellie. Not to mention Frank. If I don’t remember him, who would? When I relaxed, I realized I was bare-chested under the blanket. How did that happen? I pulled the blanket tighter

Nolan’s POV Despite a gun being pointed at me, I wasn’t scared. I knew the coward only picked on the vulnerable. I wasn’t expecting Sam to rush him, which was when the gun was fired.I was sure the bullet hit me as I began falling to the ground. Perhaps my body hadn’t registered the pain yet, because it didn’t hurt. As Sam patted me down, questioning where the bullet hit me. I realized the only place that hurt was my head, and that was because I banged it on a rock.Of all the things to hit, that idiot managed to hit my crutch. As I touched the area of my head, that throbbed. I felt my consciousness being dragged back into my mind. Where I watched the majestic black wolf from my dreams destroy a brick wall. The wall that stood between me and my memories. “Where the hell have you been?” Callan demanded to know. I laughed as everything instantly came back flooding back to me.“Sam. I know who I am. I know what I am,” I told her with excitement.Callan snarled, “Who’s the rogue?” He as

Reagan’s POV Despite only having one leg, I still needed the legroom in Edgar’s car small car. So I pushed the seat back. It also helped that I was out of Sam’s periphery so that I could pull the peek down on my cap. Hoping to catch a few minutes of sleep, as I had a lot to sort out when I got home. “I don’t recall you ever complaining so much,” I snapped at Callan. He has done nothing but complain since we left the city. Now he is complaining about how many breaks Sam has needed. “She’s not used to driving and is probably nervous about where we’re going.” I know he is eager to get home, but he should be grateful Sam said yes to taking us. It would be a long walk, especially with one crutch. “Do you remember why you were out there?” I asked Callan. Referring to the day, Sam and Ellie found us. “It’s been bothering me for a while. It’s gone from my mind. What was your last memory?” he asked, getting frustrated with himself. “The last thing I remember was going to meet Alpha Suna

Reagan’s POV “The rogue has been dealt with.” It took my brain a few seconds to register the words that came out of Kevin’s mouth. He can’t have been referring to Sam. Not my Sam. Not the woman who saved me, the woman I swore to protect with my life. Callan demanded answers and unleashed his aura with such intensity, instantly incapacitating the guards. He tried forcing a shift, but that wouldn’t get me anything. “What do you mean, dealt with?” I yelled angrily. I rushed over and grabbed Kevin by the collar. Balancing myself carefully. “Tell me, is she alive?” My heart beat rapidly as I waited for someone to answer. But the intensity of Callan’s aura meant Kevin couldn’t move, never mind speak. Callan also realized this and calmed a little so he could at least answer me.As I waited, I looked at Caspian. He was sniffing the air, and his eyes kept flickering as his wolf tried to push forward. Something was bothering him. I would normally have gone to him, as a concern for him is a conc

Caspian’s POV “You’re so good at that,” I told Evelyn as she sucked my cock for the second time today. She looked at me with her big green eyes and kept going until I came in her mouth. The best thing about Evelyn was that no matter how hard I fucked her, she never seemed to be satisfied. Which was great, as sex with anyone was only about one thing. My pleasure. One day I will meet my mate, and from that day I will be faithful. I will love and cherish the ground my mate walks on. But until the day we meet, I will fuck Evelyn. I will fuck her whenever I choose and in any hole I choose and, and by the way, she screams, she loves it.“Your majesty. We have discovered a rogue in your office.” A mindlink came through from Kevin. He is not the person I want in my mind right now.“Deal with it.” I mindlinked back. I should shut that thing off. But you never know, there may be an attack at any point. As the Alpha King, I have to be made aware.Evenly dragged me toward the bed, giggling. Catc

Sam’s POV It was three days until Frank’s funeral and only five days until the full moon. Five days until I will be marked. I still have my apprehensions, but Zola didn’t. She felt Caspian was my true mate, but to find him, something dramatic had to happen. Whereas I think it’s the goddess trying to make amends.Reagan and I planned on travelling to South View after the funeral, so that I could share my news with Ellie. I didn’t know how she would take it, as I still hadn’t told her about Caspian. I was hoping she would come back with us as Ellie will want to meet Capsian. The main concern I have is that she’s not a social person. But then again, she hasn’t been around many wolves. What if they insult her? She’s likely to kill someone with that power of hers. But that is a worry for another day.But what would happen afterward? Will I want to share Caspian’s life with him at the palace? It’s nice and all, but I am constantly escorted around, and it doesn’t have the freedom a home sho

Reagan’s POV “I believe this is bigger than I first thought,” Richard told me. I grew concerned about my old friend. “Be careful and keep me updated,” I told him. If what he discovered was worth killing me over. He may paint a target on his own back, and with him being out there alone, no one would know for a while. “I will,” he said before he hung up the phone. I spun the chair around and stared out of the large window. The view from here has always been a favorite; that’s why I made it my office. “I should help him,” I told myself. But if the intention was to kill me, I could be giving them another opportunity. If the intention was to dethrone me as the Alpha King, then mission accomplished because the title has been handed over. But I didn’t know which one it was. The door bursting open behind me pulled me from my thoughts. Caspian rushed through it with a huge grin on his face, and he was dragging Sam behind him. She hadn’t come to our suite last night, so perhaps Caspian’s pl

Sam’s POV I rolled over and thumbed the hard lump under my head. But I hit something solid, something that moved. I instantly freaked and thrashed about, screaming, fearing the worst. “Sam, Sam. It’s OK,” a voice told me. I quickly recognized that it belonged to Caspian. As I calmed myself down, Caspian threw his arm over me and dragged me to him. The closeness to him helped me relax.“What am I doing in bed with you?” I asked him when I was ready. He moved a piece of hair off my face. “You fell asleep last night, and I didn’t want to wake you. So I carried you to bed.” He sniffed my hair and then kissed the top of my head. “I haven’t slept that well in a long time,” he told me gently.I want to be annoyed with Caspian. This wasn’t the deal. We move at my pace. But how could I be mad? I had the best dream. I was in my family home with my mom and dad. We were eating dinner at the table. It was an ordinary family event, and the meal was nothing special. But they were there, and we were

Reagan’s POV Sam and I have slept in the same suite since we arrived. Sam takes the bedroom, but she leaves the door open as she likes to know I’m around. This upsets Caspian, as she is still closer to me than him. But should that change, he is more than welcome to sleep on the couch.A positive outcome of Sam spending time with Caspian is that her nightmares are less intense. I know she still has them, but she doesn’t wake up screaming.Whereas in my dreams, my dark-haired mystery woman continues to taunt me. When she touches me, I feel alive even though I can’t move or speak. She runs her fingers through my hair and over my skin, sending sparks of electricity to my core. Although I have had many sexual encounters in my life, none of these women has ever made me feel the way she does.My dreams are so intense that I have to rush to the bathroom most mornings. So Sam doesn’t interrupt me while I deal with my erection. I like to think that the mystery woman is my mate, and I am dreami

Reagan’s POV It took Caspian and me several days to review and fix all those files he signed. Like hell was I doing it alone, as I wasn’t the Alpha King anymore. Caspian needed to learn how to fix his mistakes. The Wolf Council was not happy either, as their workload had just increased. But they should have done their damned jobs in the first place. “I hope you have learned from this,” I told Caspian.“Reagan. I’ve taken full responsibility for my screw-ups. But I don’t know how these files made it past these reports got past the Wolf Council without being investigated.” He told me this daily, and he raised a good point; whoever was responsible for the investigation knew they were passing incomplete files to Caspian. I just can’t figure out how they got him to sign them off. One, maybe two, could have slipped past him in the early days. But there were dozens, and it had been going on for weeks.“Could you live with yourself knowing an innocent person suffered or died because of your

Sam’s POV Caspian was beaming as he invited me to see the private palace gardens. “Won’t you get in trouble with the Alpha King? What if he finds out I’m there?” I told him I would offend him unintentionally. Zola also had her concerns. “If he tries to have me sent to the dungeons again, I am out of here!” Caspian looked like he was thinking, and then told me the Alpha King was with Reagan. “I only got the head of security job because Reagan went missing. I was the second choice for the position. I never thought I would get it. Now Reagan’s back, and classed as my advisor, the Alpha King prefers to talk to him rather than me,” he said, snickering.I followed Caspian as he walked along the empty hallways. Then he stopped in front of a glass door. I felt naughty as I walked through it. But once I took a few steps outside, I forgot all about the Apha King. It was beautiful. Everywhere you looked, there were beautifully pruned flowers in every imaginable color.Caspian walked beside me

Reagan’s POV Although I have never needed the services of Dr. Monroe, I have met him many times over the years. I have relied on him for his medical knowledge more than anything. He is also an asset to have around for those people who are wolfless or pregnant. At first, he felt awkward, and he kept calling me ‘your majesty’. I was no longer the Alpha King, and I had to keep correcting him. In the end, he settled for calling me ‘sir’ as he didn’t feel comfortable calling me by my first name. To distract himself, he talked about the pregnancy spike within the kingdom. It was good to hear, as new pups meant the next generation was being born. He measured multiple parts of my body with a tape measure. “Do you have a preference on what style of leg you would like, sir?” I hadn’t even thought about it.“What are my options? What is your opinion?” I asked him.“This is not the sort of thing we offer in the wolf kingdom, so when I was asked about it. I did a quick bit of research on what hum

Reagan’s POV It felt strange walking into the Alpha King’s office. It was once a place where I spent a lot of my time. But now I am no longer the Alpha King, and it belongs to Caspian. So much has changed since I have been gone. Yet this room remained the same; Caspian hadn’t changed a thing. But everything in this room is a memory for us both. Portraits of our elders, pictures of our parents, and photos of us from our youth. There is even a picture of the family we were so close to once upon a time. I cherished that picture; it was our mom’s last photo before her murder.A man was sitting at Caspian’s desk. But my business here was to meet the Wolf Council. Phillip opened the door for me, and I made my way inside. Every man got to his feet and bowed his head in respect.I am no longer their superior, but they treated me as if I were. I took a seat opposite my brother, who now sits at the head of the table. Everyone sat down, except for George. He was a senior member of the Wolf Coun

Sam’s POV I dreamed I was still in the dungeons. Tears filled my eyes about what those guards did to me down there, and when I woke to the smell of something I didn’t recognize. I sat up, terrified that my rescue was a dream. As I fought with the bedsheets, I remembered what happened later that day, about Caspian and the mate bond. It had to have been real.As I calmed myself, I heard running water. Hearing Reagan curse from the bathroom soothed me, as having him around offered me peace of mind that I was awake. Yesterday was extreme, and I’m still not fully sure that I understood everything that happened. While I waited for Reagan, I lay back on the bed and talked to Zola about Caspian. He seemed nice, but so did Axel in the beginning, and look how that ended. “So we proceed with caution and any red flags. We are out of here,” I told her. She was pleased I was willing to give him a chance. Then we both agreed that we don’t like the Alpha King or his methods.Being in his home and bei
