Chapter 0002

Seraphina POV

I was almost certain that I did not hear Lucius correctly. But when the words were repeated, I understood that I heard him correctly.

I clutched my chest with one of my hands.

“No,” I muttered, a tear threatening to fall off if enough care was not taken.

“You are no longer my mate,” he was still letting out utterances that discomforted deeply. “I reject you and anything that has to do with you.”

I got up from the chair where I was seated and moped at a man I treasure, tears gathering at the hub of my eyes.

“Lucius,” I dubbed with the tiniest soundness in me. “You can't do—this to me.”

The tears I tried suppressing from showing up on the countenance of my face, poured out. My hand clutched my chest and when I glanced around to see the wolves, they were mute.

“What did I do to you?” I cried out from where I was. “You can't wake up one morning and choose to back out of what we share, Lucius!” I screamed again, expecting that the words I communicated would make him change his intellect.

But he was silent.

“For goodness sake, I left my home and everyone I know, just to be with you,” I reminded him, just in case he could not recall. “How can you do this to me?”

“You are free to go back to them, Seraphina,” he clambered down from the stage where he was and walked towards me. “I figured I was in love with someone else days ago.”

Days ago?

When precisely did he fall out of love with me, and fall in love with another woman? How can a man who fucked me days ago, say these things to me?

“I don't believe you.”

He was close, and facing me.

“It is what it is, Seraphina,” there was a sly smile on his lips. “Take your time, you'll be fine.”

With these words, he faced the wolves who were still mute.

What could they have said?

Challenged him?

I know quite well that they did not like the turn of events.

But on second thought, they are in no situation to notify their vicious, wicked and dreaded Alpha what to do and who to appoint for a wife.

Since the woman he claimed to be in love with, was yet to be revealed—I was having a hard time believing what he said.

“Who is she?” I questioned and he looked around, slyly smiling.

What did I say that was funny? When did I become a fool to even Lucius, the man I have loved for a very long time?

“Who did you prefer over me, Lucius?” I raised a question again and made an effort to touch him, but he walked away from my side and back to the stage where he got down moments ago.

“Helena.”

In the whole of Blackthorn Manor, there existed one Helena in the Pack.

Was it—?

“No!” I cried out and tried to reach where he was, on the main stage.

A slap on his face would have accomplished the enchantment and brought him back to his senses.

“Lucius!”

I was close to clambering on the stage when one of the men who watched over the Pack, grabbed me from going further.

“You bastard!”

This was not a prank, I verified when Helena, with a smile, got up from her chair. She walked past me and arrived at the stage where the man I should be bonded with, waited.

I yelled. “No, Lucius!”

“This is my mate,” he ignored me. “Meet Helena, the Luna-to-be!”

“All hail the Luna!” The man who preached at the stage before Lucius mounted, screamed at the wolves who got on their feet to hail Helena who shortly hugged Lucius.

How could she do this to me?

A woman I called a friend from the very moment when I stepped into the Pack.

My chest heaved up and down on its own and I almost did not have control over my breath.

“You can't do this to me, Helena!” I screamed at the woman who was all smiles. “I am your friend for goodness sake!”

“You called me friend, Seraphina,” she mocked, not apologetic. “But did I for once address you as mine?” She cracked up out loud at the hearing of those who listened. “Alpha Lucius is mine, not yours.”

I was going to get up from the floor where I was seated when someone called me. Now I glimpsed up from the floor where I sat, my gaze on Lucius who kissed Helena's hand.

“You should get ready to vacate the Pack as soon as possible. You are no longer needed in the Blackthorn Manor.”

“You will pay for this,” I muttered under my breath. “No one plays with me and gets away with it!”

He chuckled.

“We both know you can do nothing to hurt me, Seraphina,” he said. “I was way stronger than you were the last time I inspected. Tell me another lie.”

“You will pay back for this!” I cried out with the last resilience in me.

“Take her away!” He dictated to the men who moped at me all this while. “I have a wedding ritual to carry out before the moon arrives.”

The men yanked me out of the field, while I cried out with every ounce of strength in me.

“You should start packing your things, my Lady,” one of them said. “My lord has told you what to do already.”

“What more?” I questioned no one but myself who has been a foolish wolf all this while.

After everything, is this what is right to get in return?

For goodness sake, I was there for him when he lost his parents.

Our history is a story that cannot be written in many books, there is always more to be said.

How can he do this to me? Of all the people to do it with, Helena! A woman who is meant to be my personal maid after the wedding rituals and the closest friend I would ever have.

After much thinking, I managed to stand on my feet from the floor where I was propelled, then made it to the tall mirror in my room.

My nose was crammed with mucus, and my legs shuddered vibrantly, compelling me to almost tumble back on the floor where I was lobbed.

I screamed out vigorously and threw away the items on the tables before falling to the bed.

All I wished for was Lucius, coming into the room and telling me how everything was a stunt.

Where was I supposed to go from here? I asked severally, flinging the clothes from the wardrobe and into the box as I shed tears.

My parents' house in Houston?

How was I going to confront them and the Pack members? The same people I disowned over a man.

With which face will I confront them? I blasted a cloth into the box and let out a scream.

Soon enough, after packing my stuff—I shut my eyes and lay my head on the bed, thinking of a way to sort out myself without getting embarrassed.

The door opened and someone walked in.

“Stand up!” The guard presided over and reached the bedside where I lay.

He took grasp of my boxes and wandered out, then back into the chamber to mop at me. “Have you packed everything you need?”

“I—”

Without listening to what I had to say, the man grabbed me by the hand.

I could not bear it any longer and while I was pushed out of the Pack's premises, I didn't forget to throw threats at whoever cared to listen.

Even though they were empty threats.
