#Chapter 31 (Deonna) Discovered

As Mateo slept comfortably in the small bedding that Marlon had set up for him, I could hear some murmurs from outside the building I was staying in. It didn’t exactly sound like Marlon, and my wolf wasn’t growing excited at the presence.

If anything, my wolf was getting more nervous the louder the voices got. Pressing my ear against the door, I came to realize it was just one voice. He was murmuring something to himself that I couldn’t quite understand.

He was coming closer, and he was heading in the direction of the building. I took a step back and looked over at Mateo that was still sleeping soundly. I could hear my heart beating heavily in my chest, but thankfully it wasn’t heavy enough to cause me harm or make a fever break out.

As he reached the door of the building, he pulled it open with ease and we stood face to face, staring at one another. He looked surprised to see me there; he looked around as though he had just gotten lost. His eyes went from me to Mateo and then to the
