Alpha's Choice: Love or Power?

It's the only action I've been repeating for the past few days. I did not eat or drink for more than three days and always had to find a way to hide from the pursuit of dangerous werewolves. I was afraid that I would be exhausted and unable to hold out any longer, and just as I was falling into despair, inside my head came the stern voice of my father before he died.

'Alina, you are the only survivor of Sliver Moon; let's revive our pack and don't give up no matter the situation. We are always behind you!'

Tears streamed down my face; I should still have my father by my side, I still have a happy life with my loved ones, and I think that will be forever. However, the worst of my life happened three days ago, when my pack became the target of invasion by thousands of packs, large and small, across the continent. They saw us as good bait and fought hard, the werewolves in my pack fought them bravely around the clock, but in the end, we couldn't win by a considerable force. We were defeated, and my father, Alpha Aaron, died to make way for me to escape.

I am the only person he can trust and the daughter he loves most.

Our Sliver Moon is just a tiny pack living for hundreds of years in the deep forest; we would have had a peaceful life if the terrible disaster 40 years ago had not happened. A blood-red moon appeared out of nowhere, covering half of the sky; as long as its light shined through, the werewolves there would go crazy and lose control. No one knew if it was an evil disease or a curse of the gods who wanted to eradicate werewolves, only that after decades, it was like an incurable disease with a powerful contagion. Up to now, almost all werewolves on the entire continent have been infected with that terrible disease.

Every night, they will become irrational and attack each other, even hurting themselves; by morning, they will forget all the actions of the night before. To avoid loss of life, many packs now stipulate that after 7 pm, all werewolves must stay indoors and tie themselves up.

Strangely, I was the only one unaffected. My father tried to hide that news for years, and it got out of hand a month ago, not knowing who betrayed us. When my information got out, the werewolves suffering from the terrible disease wanted me to research to find a cure.

Back to reality, I couldn't run anymore.

A mighty army of werewolves surrounded me, comprised of the most bloodthirsty and warlike wolves.

They looked at me with lustful eyes and roared when they saw me move. My heart was pounding like it was about to fall out of my chest; I tried to calm myself and find a chance to escape; I couldn't be confused right now.

Suddenly the fierce wolves retracted their bloodthirsty expressions; they lowered their heads and backed away like obedient puppies greeting their masters.

As they drifted apart, a man in a white shirt appeared in the center, unbuttoning his sexy top two buttons. His build is so tall. I consider myself a werewolf with an average height of 1m68, but when standing near that man, I still feel oppressed by his notable appearance.

"Are you Alina Scarlet? Your red hair is special." His voice is so deep and seductive; if he weren't an enemy, I would be happy to befriend such a perfect man.

"Yes. And you?" I was wary and backed away to avoid getting too close to him.

The other man didn't think me to ask him back; he just smirked and said. "The Dark Moon's Elmer."

"What?" I feel like I've just got a hole in my ear; what the hell is happening in front of me?

I couldn't help but instinctively take a step back until I heard his warning voice. "If you don't want to die, it's best to stay where you are."

My legs trembled uncontrollably, staring at the man in front of me. "Alpha Elmer?"

Elmer raised his eyebrows dangerously. "Seems like you know me?"

I frowned; how could I not know him?

My father has told me many times that Elmer is a powerful werewolf and can be said to be the most muscular werewolf in history up to the present time. But along with strength, he possesses an ice-cold heart and the most cruel nature in the world.

My eyes fell on his hand; I wondered how much blood of the enemy was stained on it.

However, he never participated in the fight with my pack; maybe because of this, I don't feel disgusted with him. But I am very well aware that this dangerous person should not be involved.

"Why are you in my way? You and I have never met." I pretend not to understand.

Elmer pursed his lips, and he wasn't angry but highly impatient. "You don't understand or pretend? Do you not understand why people search for you so hard these days and why your pack was destroyed in one night?"

My body trembled with anger; the image of loved ones falling before my eyes never stopped haunting me but made my heart ache every time I remembered.

"They all died because of you; you are what the packs need, including me." Elmer's blunt words made me feel bitter.

"What do you want me?" I frowned.

Elmer shrugged. "I want to use your blood and cells for research. If I don't catch you, others will catch you; falling into their hands is worse than me, so you better be obedient; I guarantee you won't die."

I frowned, gritting my teeth. "Don't dream!"

After saying that, I turned around and ran away; I broke through a defensive hole and rushed into the forest. But maybe I underestimated Elmer; he was scarier than I knew. In just a few short minutes, he captured me and ordered me to be returned to the Dark Moon.

When I resisted, they injected my biceps with some blue solution, and immediately I fell into a coma.
