10:00 AM My routine had become predictable ever since my mate, Alpha Sean, left for a business trip to France. He had always been my rock, my comfort—my last and only mate in this world. In my pack, the Dexter Moon Pack, omegas are treated like nothing. The females are used for entertainment, and the males? Slaves. Just tools. I was considered lucky—chosen by the Moon goddess to be his mate. It was the dream of every omega, and I had achieved it. Not just as his Luna, but as the pack doctor too. I finally had a purpose. This morning, I had bathed, dressed in a long gown, and prepared to head to the infirmary. A year ago, breakfast would’ve been brought to my bedside. But now? Ever since Sean left, the respect disappeared with him. They no longer treated me as Luna. I didn’t mind. I loved what I did. Healing wolves gave me meaning. As I buttoned my white coat, I glanced into the mirror and clutched the locket Sean had given me before his departure. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment at the memory of our last night together—it had been passionate, fiery. I couldn't wait to feel his touch again....and his body. A sudden thump snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned and saw a maid timidly entering with a steaming cup of tea. “Your usual tea is here!” she said, fidgeting. I caught the fear in her eyes instantly. Her hands trembled and my brows furrowed. “My tea?” I questioned. “Who told you to bring this? Because I know for a fact—this can’t be for me.” She gave a slight bow, swallowing hard. “You... you’re still our Luna. You deserve respect.” I had no idea why she was behaving like that. Why was she scared? Then I became a little bit scared. Was it an attack? Sean isn't here to defend the pack nor am I powerful enough. I stepped closer, unsettled. “Why are you so scared? What’s going on? Huh?!” She didn’t respond. Just silence. Frozen fear. Then, like a gust of wind chilling the room, she walked in—Sean’s sister. Reti- my greatest enemy. Wearing a short and sexy gown and her hair tied into a bun, she strutted in with her usual air of disdain, eyes filled with contempt. The room seemed to shrink under her presence. I instantly moved to shield the maid, knowing full well who Reti was targeting. “Don’t you dare touch her,” I said, locking eyes with her. “If they’re my slaves, then they’re not yours.” She had never respected my authority but I would never let her hurt anybody in the mansion. She smirked, unimpressed, and slowly brushed imaginary dirt off my coat. “You must be drunk,” she hissed, her voice venomous. “Then again... isn’t that all you do? Alina?!” My breath caught. Her words stung because they were true. I had been drinking—trying to fill the void Sean left behind. I feared he wouldn’t love me the same when he returned. Reti read the hurt on my face and smiled darkly. “So...I thought so. Now get your pathetic self out of my way before I beat the alcohol out of you.” With one hard shove, she sent me crashing to the floor. She towered over the maid now. Her voice turned icy. “You bitch. You thought you could defy me? Serve her? When I gave the command otherwise? You will be punished before he comes...” She raised a whip, but before it landed, a voice echoed down the hall. “The King’s here! He’s back!” My heart skipped. My lips trembled, curling into a smile....Sean. He’s home. *** 8:00 PM – Back in Our Room I’d waited ten hours. Skipped work, bathed twice and changed three times. I was told he was in a meeting and would call for me. I haven't seen him since he came back. My nerves were shot. But I was ready. I knew he'd be hungry for me. So, I wore a red silk lingerie, I positioned myself awkwardly on the bed, breath held, heart racing. The doorknob turned. I straightened, eager—but my face fell. He entered... with a woman. Our eyes locked. Something was wrong. The flicker—the bond—I didn’t feel it. “Sean... who is she?” I asked, immediately standing. Suddenly, he pulled me into a deep kiss, his lips rough and rushed. Then he leaned close and whispered, “My sister will be gone in an hour. Why don’t you get yourself ready? And don’t you dare be fully clothed.” My heart fluttered. I bit my lip. Maybe I was overthinking it. He was still mine, wasn’t he? My eyes darted to the woman, there was something shady about her... something suspicious like she was dressed like a hooker. But I didn't want to be to quick to judge. Satisfied , I turned to leave, throwing on my black coat. At the door, I smiled sweetly. “Nice to meet you, sister.” I was almost to our second room but something nagged at me. I forgot to ask her name. Then i walked back and opened the door to the room. As my eyes beholded the sight before me, the world that I knew of, stopped! Sean was on top of her- his so-called sister. That woman. Moans filled the room. “Sean!!!”I screamed. I dropped to my knees, clutching my coat like a shield against the reality breaking over me. He didn’t stop nor did did he even look at me. Then Reti appeared, crouching beside me like a predator near her prey. She lifted my chin. “Aww... Poor thing,” she mocked. “You thought it’d be you tonight, huh? But it can't be you…will never be you. Your days in this pack are over….” I could barely hear her because I continued screaming and crying. I was in denial that my only mate would betray me like this in the most horrible way and time ever. So I sobbed, unable to process. This couldn’t be happening. “Too loud,” she hissed, then slapped me hard across the face. Pain shot through my face. “Shut the fuck up. I’ll speak on his behalf.” She stood tall, her voice booming. “The Alpha of the Dexter Moon Pack hereby rejects you as his mate!” I gasped. My body froze. “What? He marked me...” I whispered. “We’re forever mates...no....” “Oh, you mean that stray wolf bite?” she sneered. “Useless. You’re nothing but trash who got lucky. And now, your luck’s run out. Believe me…you'll reap your consequences by getting unknownnly marked by a stray wolf! “ My eyes darted towards Sean and I was about to lunge towards him but she tripped me. My knee scraped the floor. The pain shot through my nerves. “You didn’t hear me?” she growled. “Leave now, or you’ll be my punching bag for the next ten hours.” She kicked my leg. " Oww!! " I cried out. “Ten hours…” she laughed cruelly. “Isn’t that how long you waited for him? Pathetic. You have no shame... you fool! ” Still, I looked toward the bed. My voice cracked. I raised my head wincing and staring at the bed. Weakly, those words I never expected to ask came out of my mouth, “ Sean…you are my rock? You promised to be with me always! Tell them this is all a lie…” I could hear the girl's moans but I tried to convince myself that it was lie. He finally looked at me and smiled cockily. “Get the bitch out of my sight.” " No.... I've waited long enough for you. Please don't do this!! " I yelled. Reti grabbed my hair and dragged me out the door. I stumbled into the hallway. Then I saw them.My parents. Their faces were filled with disappointment. “You’re a disgrace,” my father spat. “You can’t do anything right. One job...one job...keep your mate!! And you failed.” Tears flowed from my eyes. “Dad, please... he betrayed me. I tried—I did everything—” “Well, try surviving now,” he barked. “Because you have no home here. Not in this pack. Not in this neighborhood.Get out!! " I dropped to my knees, shaking. “Please, I want to be the pack doctor—I want to help. Don’t take this from me too—” I turned to my mother, eyes pleading. She looked away just like always. “Mom… please…” But before I could finish, someone dragged me off the ground. Where they took me—I had no idea. All I knew was that I had been destroyed. By the man I loved. By the family I trusted. Where do I begin... to rebuild what's left?ALINA'S POVI glanced around, and everyone’s eyes locked on mine. Their stares pierced into my soul, but there was no way I was leaving. They all looked at me like I was a piece of shit — but they should smell themselves. The scent of humans reeks.Suddenly, someone stood in front of me, blocking my path. I raised my head to see a petite lady dressed in a black suit, like she was a spy.Her hair was slicked back, which brought out the sharp features of her face.I blinked rapidly. “Excuse me?!”I couldn’t read her expression, but she started, “You...aren’t supposed to be here. He doesn’t want you here.”Those words hit me like a meteor striking a planet. They were sharp — but not sharp enough to break me. I burst into laughter. My eyes creased with amusement. “Are you joking? I assume you know who I am, since the boss…”“He’s in a meeting right now,” she interrupted, “so it’d be best if you left. If he gets angry today, the last meeting will end in disaster.”She spoke like she had re
Noxi’s POVI heard my mom yelp in surprise. There’s no way she’d pressure Alina into drinking the Gedri again—not after what she just witnessed. My eyes didn’t leave the scene unfolding before me. Alina stood completely naked, using her arms in a frantic attempt to cover the two apples nature had gifted her.She avoided my gaze, cheeks flushed red, but as soon as she turned her head to check if my mom had left, she lost her balance on my leg. In the motion, her hands slipped.I only caught a glimpse, but it was worth it.Shocked, she blinked rapidly, as if trying to process what just happened, then her voice cracked as she yelled, “Did you see…?”“All of it,” I replied in a low, amused tone. She raised her hand to slap me but quickly stopped mid-action, realizing any sudden move might reveal her again. “Aren’t you supposed to look away?” she barked.“Why would I do that?” I asked, the corner of my lips curling into a smug smile. She was flustered, embarrassed. For someone as stubborn
ALINA'S POV I hesitantly stepped into the bathroom, where I found the woman I’d seen earlier—the one who had stood in that royal chamber like she owned the air everyone breathed.“You can leave, Tracy,” she said sharply. Tracy gave a respectful bow and quietly exited. The woman stared at me with a strange mix of disdain and curiosity, like she wasn’t sure if I was dirt—or some trophy to polish and hide.Taking a deep breath, I folded my arms. “You called me here. So, what do you want from me?”She let out a long, amused cackle before locking eyes with me. “And what do you think I want?”“I don’t know!” I snapped. “You called me! What am I supposed to guess? I don’t even know you.”She stepped closer, wrapping her arms around her chest. Her eyes searched mine, cold and calculating. “For your information… I’m his mother. Queen of this pack. Selena.”I scoffed, folding my arms tighter across my chest. “And how do I know you’re not lying? You just walked in here claiming that like it’s s
**Next Morning**ALINA'S POVI was jolted awake by the scorching rays of sunlight piercing through the windows and directly into my eyes. Groaning loudly, I rubbed my eyes, feeling the remnants of sleep still clinging to me. My body ached — sore and stiff from everything I had endured yesterday. As I sat up, still drowsy and aching, the memories of the previous day came flooding back. I couldn’t believe he had lost control like that — completely unhinged. And I could’ve sworn I saw his teeth dangerously close to my neck. There’s absolutely no way in hell he’d try to mark me. If he doesn't want me dead, he wouldn’t dare.My eyes drifted to the spot on my body where he had cut me. It hadn’t healed. The bruise was still fresh — like it had just happened. Why wasn’t it healing? Then it hit me. Back at my ex-pack’s palace, I’d learned that if I went even a week without treating wolves, my healing abilities would begin to weaken. I never understood why that happened, but here it was again
Noxi’s POVI stared at her in shock, struggling to grasp what I was seeing. There was no way—no way—she was proposing to me. Not here. Not now. Not in front of the damn cameras. She just knelt there, one knee on the marble floor, a smug grin curving her lips as if she owned the damn world.“Get the fuck up,” I mouthed at her, glaring with all the heat I could muster. But she didn’t budge. She wasn’t afraid. Her eyes glittered with defiance as she raised the ring, expecting—no, daring—me to slide it onto my finger.I’d had enough. With a sharp snap of my fingers, my guards moved in. The reporters yelped as they were dragged outside—not gently. It was messy, but I needed to stop this spectacle before it got worse.“Mr. North, please—” one of the reporters called out, still filming, hungry for a headline.“Don’t you everstep foot in this house again!” I bellowed. “Who the hell invited you?!”One of them sneered. “She did! Said she wanted it on the news!”The news?! My jaw clenched. That
**ALINA’S POV**I saw his face—clearer now, more familiar than I dared to admit. A chill ran down my spine. I knew him. But what in the goddess’ name was he doing here…serving a rival pack?“I…” I began, but the words died on my tongue.Noxi, ever attuned to tension, stepped in with a smirk tugging at his lips. “Should I leave the room for the reunited couple?”“No!!” I snapped, louder than I meant to. My chest tightened with unease. The man tilted his head and gave a little bow. “Luna of the North Pack,” he said with alarming formality, “it’s an honor to finally see you again… especially after you saved my life.”I froze. Saved his life? My brows furrowed. It hit me—he was the boy I had dragged out of the alley, bleeding from a sacred knife wound. But he looked so different now. Hardened. Colder.“I don’t remember saving you,” I lied, trying to stay in control, probing him for more.Without hesitation, he lifted his shirt. My breath hitched at the sight of the scar across his side—th
