CELESTE'S POV

"I don't want you to go." I lamented, clinging onto his arm like my life depended on it. Well, technically, it did rely on him.

"Just close your eyes and get some sleep, I will be back before you know it." He chuckled and tried to pull his hand away but I held on to it quite tightly. In reality, he wasn't making any attempt to get away.

"I won't be able to. What will you be doing outside anyway? It's already nighttime. Can't that wait until the next day?" I was pathetic, I know, but I also didn't want to be away from him, not even for a second.

"I told you we caught a prisoner of war, she's an important one and I need to make sure she is secured under lock and key. She's going to try to escape. We can't afford that."

I groaned without speaking. There was nothing else left for me to say. His excuse is one hella important one and I can't talk him into ignoring it until the next day.

"I promise I will try as much as I can to shorten my time outside, I will be back befo

JEREMY'S POVLife was......well, great. It was great for the witches, and so far, they were in a good mood. Getting what they wanted for so long, I was treated well too. So instead of worrying about what was part of our plan and what was not, I decided to just embrace what I have now. It's not every day you have witches bending to whatever request you give them. They claimed I was their saviour. I brought Killian to them, and I helped them fulfill their most sought-after goal, and so they will do whatever it takes to honour me. I let myself enjoy the moment, even though deep down at the back of my mind, I knew there was going to be hell to pay for what we were doing. Well, mostly their doings. The pack isn't just going to fold their hand and let themselves get defeated. And when I said "the pack." I meant Sam and Logan and maybe a number of the elders. They will come for us, and when they do, I hope the witches have the perfect plan in mind to protect themselves, as I would not be

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 210

CELESTE'S POV"I am going to warn you before going in; he isn't in the best of appearance." Logan held the door handle before I could reach it. For the first time, I saw raw, unfiltered worry in his eyes. And he wasn't just worried about his Alpha; he was concerned about me—how I would react to the condition in which I was going to see my mate."Don't worry, I got this." I didn't get it, and I don't know what the heck I was doing. "I know what his condition is if that is what you are worried about."He swallowed uneasily while still staring intensely at me. It was as if he was begging me with his eyes to stay back and let them handle it. I would watch my head fall off my neck a million times before waiting outside while my mate was in

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 209

CELESTE’S POV“Where the fuck have you been?” Logan glared from me to Sam, the usual calmness in his tone completely nonexistent. In its place was a tone of horror. He seemed truly horrified by something, and that caused me to get super worried.“Where is my mate?” I didn’t bother responding to his question. It wouldn’t answer my own question, and my question is more important at this point. It required the most answers.“In his room, locked up. Why didn’t any of you think of informing me about his condition?” He was still glaring as he spoke.“What condition?” Sam and I asked at the same time. I could also hear the dread in his tone. It was evident.Logan’s glare intensified, if that was even possible. He looked like he wasn’t doing a great job holding himself back and stopping himself from smacking us. “I should be asking you both. What is going on? He changed into a wolf in front of everyone at a meeting! Do you even know the gravity of that? And none of you thought of informing me

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 208

CELESTE’S POV I don’t even know how we managed to get them off our backs, but we did. Sam was good with that. I will give it to him. I was worried about how we were going to get past the border with that many guards stationed there and others running after us. He proved to me that it wasn’t that much of a task for him. Still under the facade of a sightseer, he even stopped and had a few minutes of chitchat with the border guards before the palace guards could reach us. Don’t ask me how he got to do that, but he did. By the time they had probably noticed where we headed, we were already halfway away from their pack, and there was nothing they could do to us when we weren't on their lands anymore. “Remind me never to get on your bad side. You manage to get yourself out of whatever situation you find yourself in. It is somewhat scary to me.” I finally had the chance to speak as we took the path that will lead us to our pack. Sam chuckled lightly, seeming pleased with himself, and the

KILLIAN’S POV “Alpha?” I heard the call, and it was Logan’s voice, but for one, I couldn't bring myself to respond, and neither could I do anything else. I just wanted to get up and leave. That way, maybe I would save myself the stress of watching my body misbehave in front of everyone. But I couldn't as much as move my eyes when I wanted to, not to mention moving my legs and walking out of the conference room. All I could do was watch, watch from my mind’s eyes how Malthus does things I have worked so hard to contradict. I hated this, the feeling of being locked in my own body like a caged animal while another fucking creature used me like a costume. The humiliation I felt, the hopelessness, the dread, and the sickening helplessness that curled in my gut. He wasn’t just possessing me; he was mocking everything I had stood for. And that single fact frustrates me more than any other. “How does it feel like sitting in front of subordinates again?” He declared, and I could see the con

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 206

KILLIAN’S POVThey left. Sam took my mate, and they left for the Moonstone Howl pack despite my warning to him. I have never felt this anger and worry coupled with the frustration of knowing that nothing I could do but sit and wait. The wait wasn’t a pretty one, as the elders chose this exact time to bug me. Only Sam could have known how to safely get them off my back at a moment like this. Not even Logan could help as he knew nothing about my situation. So when he knocked on my door and told me about their request to meet with me in the conference room, I was up and about almost immediately, getting ready and hoping the day wouldn’t go from being already bad to nasty. I arrived at the conference room a little later than usual. Not only was everyone seated, but they were already scowling, probably due to my absence. Without a word, I slipped into the chair reserved for me and quietly observed them, my eyes moving from one Elder to another. A couple of them were looking at me, obser
