CELESTE'S POV

We continued to journey through the carved road in the middle of nowhere until we reached a safe distance where Sam thought it was best to stop and cover the rest of the journey on foot. I thought getting past the guards at the border would be hard, but clearly I have underestimated Sam and his ability.

Before I could even have time to question his plan and its stability, we had walked right past the security and were headed straight to my father's house. It felt surreal, and I found myself actually shaking my head numerous times to figure out if that was actually true or not.

Only when we had reached my father's house did I actually believe that I was really in the Moonstone Howl pack after so many years. My father's bungalow is a place I have called home for decades, my comfort, somewhere I would run to after a whole day of despair, I would curl up in the bed and seek comfort from the stuff around me until the next morning. My home.

Everything was exactly how I reme

CELESTE'S POV"This is way easier than I assumed." Sam chuckled to himself, taking a moment to observe the moonstone but not bothering to come any closer to it, not to speak of touching it. The stone lay in my hand, a gloomy kind of light grey, elegantly simple with no form of design on it. It oddly reminds me of still, clear water on a summer morning. Beautiful. I could get lost in it by just staring, whereas at the same time, there was nothing there to stare at. Maybe it's the history it carried, the power. "I think you should stop staring, it's compelling in a way," Sam said skeptically from the other side of the room. He had now resumed going through stuff again, like he wasn't the one lamenting about finding the moonstone just now. "What? Are you scared of it?" I joked wholeheartedly, raising the Moonstone with one hand. He scoffed and didn't even bother to face me. I am telling you it has the power to keep you locked in, and that's exactly what it was doing to you. Stop stari

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 198

CELESTE'S POV"Maybe you didn't say the words right," Sam suggested I repeat the spell, this time, pronouncing each word consciously and loudly. But that didn't change anything. "You need to put a little more meaning into it, maybe." He made another suggestion, but when our eyes met, we laughed out loud at the same time. How the heck was I supposed to put meaning into something that was strange to me? Well, I did try to act intentionally. For each strange word I pronounced, I made it sound like I actually meant it, but even that didn't work. We tried every other possible means to activate the spell, vigorously looking around for something we might be missing, but there was absolutely nothing to help with the spell—nothing at all. On the verge of giving up, I stretched and got up from the seat, ready to tug the book away so I could try again when we returned to our pack. The longer we stay here, the more prone we are to Kaiden's arrest. "Celeste?" Sam's voice was a mere whisper, l

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 200

SAM’S POVCeleste was far too interested in the spell book. Even though we have found everything we seek in it, she was still skimming through pages, trying to find answers to the chaos going on within her head. It was evident in her eyes. I believed there was nothing else waiting to be found in the spell book, but that assumption was immediately broken when a small book fell out of it as Celeste continued to roam through the pages. She was so invested in what she was doing that she didn’t even realize something had fallen out of the book until I made it known to her. “What’s that?” She took the words right out head and blurted them out. “No idea.” I turned the book around in my hand to have a glimpse of every part of it, maybe that would help in recognizing it, but there was nothing written on the leather cover. “Let me see.” She stretched her hand forward, and I dropped the book into it. She flipped it open with care and curiosity. “This was written by my father.” “His journal?

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 195

CELESTE'S POVThe journey to the Moonstone Howl pack was strange. Strange in the sense that the whole path had been remodeled. Places I remembered to be once covered my trees and bushes were now buildings and factories. If not that Sam was with me and he sure as heck knew what he was doing, I could have said we had lost our way at some point. Even at that, as we journeyed, I still had my contemplation, and I only felt relieved when I saw the large, famous mountain that indicated the border of their pack. I lightly tapped Sam on his upper arm and pointed toward the mountain for him. "I think we should stop here and continue the rest of the journey on foot." It's still a bit far away, but I don't want to take chances, especially after Kaiden had found out we were interested in coming to his pack. I knew him like my nightmare; he would try to bend every power under his control to make sure we didn't get what we wanted. And did I ever tell you he has a lot of influence? Well, there you

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 194

SAM'S POV"Shit!" I usually have this absurd thought here and there that when Killian died, I was going to be happier than anything about his demise. In my head, I was thinking, at least, now I get to rule the pack without any stress. But when I walked into that room and saw him lying lifeless on the floor, my heart sank so deep I nearly collapsed myself. I just knew then and there that dealing with his death was not going to be as easy as I thought. I knew right there that I still adore my brother even though I was interested in his throne. I learned at that moment that no matter how interested I was in the throne, his life mattered more to me. The childhood we had is never going to just fade away, no matter how hard I tried to ignore it. In a blur, I was right in front of him, shaking him vigorously, all the while trying to move him away from the blood on the floor. "Killian?" I called for the umpteenth time, this time around slapping his cheek in the process, attempting to wake
