CELESTE'S POV
Sam's plan sounded absolutely insane, but we had no other choice but to follow through with it, especially considering that Killian's situation was becoming harder to conceal from the public by the day.
The maids and guards around the palace were beginning to pick up the signs that something was absolutely wrong with their leader, despite the effort we put into making sure that things stayed under our control. It was hard on both Sam and I, and to some extent, even Logan. He was mostly occupied with the pack duties and rarely had time to watch Killian slowly fade away or deal with having to keep the noises down.
Sam, for some reason, still hasn't informed Logan about the full story of what has happened to Killian.
KAIDEN'S POV"Unfortunately, there was no sign of them whatsoever; it seemed they must have come with a vehicle, there is no other explanation for how they were able to escape our guards in just a few hours after they had been sighted." "Any new person coming into the pack from now henceforth must seek approval from me," I responded. I do not want to listen to him blab about what could have been. I was already aggravated after what they did, and now he is telling me what I have already suspected from the very beginning."That will be conveyed to the border guards and put into action immediately." He bowed curtly. "Your Highness, if you have time to spare, I think this will be the best time to go and see the witches. They have been pressing for you to come down there as there is a matter, something they have foreseen and would love to share with you." "Did I not tell you to meet them on my behalf?" I squinted my eyes at him questionably. I did tell him to represent me, that much I co
SAM'S POVThe trip back to the pack was done in silence, both of us fully engrossed in our different thoughts, which traced back to the same worry. We are both worried about the probability of our plan turning the situation into a much more disaster than we were already battling. But neither of us was confident enough to let our fears out. I silently held the door open for Celeste to walk in first as we reached her room. Only when she stepped in did she let her shoulders slump down with the weight of worry she was carrying. It was as if she had been putting up a facade just for the sake of the pack members around. And now that she was finally in her space, everything was catching up to her. "Are you okay?" I blurted the question at the tip of my tongue before I could stop myself. Even though I knew she was far from okay but still, a part of me still wanted to hear her voice assuring me that she was fine. I knew she wasn't. I wasn't too. No one who knew about Killian's situation wou
SAM'S POV"Are you sure this is going to work?" Celeste asked. Though her question was quite clear, I knew from her tone that it wasn't what she wanted to know. She wanted me to assure her if we are actually onto the right path, which in all honesty is something I couldn't do because even I was just tiptoeing on the path. But I didn't tell her that. She was already nervous as it was; I didn't need to add to that. Instead, I said."The book gave a vivid explanation of how to perform the spell. With the help of the book, I am eighty percent sure you are going to be able to pull it off. It did mention that only people with Lunaris power could cast a spell on the moonstone. And you are one, right?" I cranked my head to stare at her face as she responded.

KAIDEN'S POVI stared at the familiar face of Elder Brook for minutes, trying to decipher what his deal was. He knew something. Something he realized might be very important to me. And he looked like he was relishing the moment, knowing that somehow, I would be seeking his guidance. They usually don't have that advantage over me, so his excitement was understandable, and I would have tolerated it if not for the fact that I wasn't in any mood for bullshit."What do you know, Brook?" I crooked my head to the side and stared at him attentively, still trying to see, by merely staring at his face, if I could find out what he had going on without him saying it out.Apart from the fact that he seemed overly excited, there was nothing to pick up.
KAIDEN'S POV"The fuckers fucking let her slip between their damn fingers." I groaned to no one in particular, pushing the bowl of hot soup that had been placed in front of me seconds ago. How could they have possibly allowed that to happen after I warned them personally about the gravity of that situation! "Your highness, we already have guards scattered around. Be assured that she is going to be found and brought to you as soon as possible." My beta spoke, bowing curtly and taking gradual steps away from me. "She is going to be found, you said?" I had raised my glass of wine, about to take a sip, but his words made me stop dead in my tracks, opting to drop the cup on the table. "You made mention of the fact that she was with a man, who seemed quite experienced with navigating around the fucking pack, do you think he is going to allow himself to get caught?" "Well....your Highness, we will try our best to....""Don't try your best, shove it up your asses and get the hell out of my
