Facing the reality

Jake pulled up in front of Destiny's house and parked the Escalade. He assisted her, making sure his body was in front of hers. He felt jittery to the point of being irritable. He lifted his hand to knock as he approached the front door. The door swung open slightly because it wasn't entirely closed. His wolf was barking warnings at him, and he grimaced.
"Does anyone else have a horrible feeling about this place?" Sam inquired.
Jake said, "Oh yeah."
Destiny was silent, but she felt the same way. A sense of impending doom, of rage, was strong in the air. She forced her way through the door. Her main concern, her first thought, was for her mother. Her wolf growled, begging to be let out. She entered the room quickly."Wait... Destiny!" Jake made a hissing sound.
"Mom?" Destiny called, gazing around terrified.
