Valerie's POV

I walk to the nearest station back to my pack. I did not bother asking my mate to take me home.

He wanted to insist, but I declined. He needs to be with Silvana now that he found out the truth. I already had the entire night with him, and I knew that is something that will never happen again.

His heart calls for his true mate.

I know I am about an hour away from the rogue pack, and I am sure the guards stationed by the borders would recognize me when I get there.

Valerie’s POV‘But I could feel them. Grandma Iris was right. I don’t know what happened but somehow, they survived.’ Liana tells me, and my heart eased. He cut his eyes to the ground and his shoulders sagged.I could see his body visibly trembling. Instead of acknowledging his words, I stepped forward to him. It’s as if my body had its own mind, and I raised my fingers to his chin, lifting his eyes. The moment he does, my stomach sinks.Pain. His eyes are filled with a deep, massive pain and guilt, devastation all at once.Just like earlier, my body moves in its own accord and moves closer, until I could hear him breathing and graze his chest slightly with my shirt. He stared into my eyes absentmindedly, and at that moment I desperately wanted to bring him back. So, moving closely and ever so slowly, I bring my lips to his. It is as if he came back to his senses, a surprised look now settling on his face when he sees what is happening, but I don’t move.I simply stay in my position a

Valerie’s POVIt’s as if a whole bucket of ice cold water came splashing down my head like a giant waterfall. At first, I was stuck in place. But the moment Evan cleared his throat, I managed to gather my bearings and immediately stand up from his bed.How the hell did I end up beside Evan, I can only be sure this is Liana’s doing. But as soon as I mentioned her name, she tucks tail and hides in her own little bubble.Grandma Iris raised a brow at me looking me from head to toe but I was more focused on the fact she had caught me sleeping on his bed.“I… This is not what it looks like,” I tried to explain but she wouldn’t have it.Shaking her head, she turned away and started for the door instead.“Oh I understand perfectly well, dear. However, before you come outside…” she suddenly stopped walking towards the door. Looking over her shoulder, she says.“Make sure you get dressed.” And with that, she left.I was left confused, wondering what she meant before I looked down and it all ma

VALERIAN’S POV'Still no news from Mom?' I mindlinked uncle Zayne.'Nothing. We have been trying to connect with her but it seems she is somewhere out of reach. I can't feel her wolf.' Uncle Zayne grumbled.I sighed, nodding my head.'Okay. I need to check on Levi,'After that I hung up and made my way to the clinic. He isn't getting any better. My wolf wouldn't stop pacing around my head, but all he's doing is making me even more nervous.'Will you stop it?' I growled at my wolf.Mother and my father are out there looking for Grandma Iris. To be honest, I didn't really want to be hostile towards him, given the changes and smiles he brought upon our pack. But I couldn't help it. I grew up thinking he hated me, hated mom, but now he's here, and I don't know what to make of it.'Let us just focus on mate.' My wolf advises, which I am grateful for. I don't really want to dwell on thoughts about my father for so long, especially when I don't even know what to make of it.Stepping inside

Valerie’s POV:We stayed like that for a couple of moments. I didn’t know what to say.Looking into his eyes, I saw no pretense. He was telling the truth from the bottom of his heart. Is this really the man who I married all those years ago? Is this the man who treated me so indifferently as if I don’t exist in his life?‘No. He’s not.’ Liana answered for me. And she’s right. Looking at him, I curve my lips into a smile.“So you’ve really changed, huh?”His eyes lit up like a puppy as he nodded his head.“So is that a yes?” he asked, excited. I have no idea why. He won’t get anything out of me and he still acts like he has won a gold trophy. With a sigh, I nodded my head.“You are Valerian’s father. I want him to know you as this Evan, and not the old one,” I said and chuckled. He smiled, but it’s as if he is unable to stop himself his arms wrapped around my body in a warm, gentle hug.“Thank you.” he said and I could hear the sincerity in his voice.I froze in my spot, but kept my b

Chapter 146Valerie’s POV:I opened my eyes only to see Evan and the smirk plastered on his lips.“We got a deal, then?” he asked, still looking at me with that same absurd smirk on his annoyingly handsome face. All I know is that my face is flushed red with embarrassment… or is it disappointment? I am not sure but whatever. Let him take the floor if that’s what he wants.Keeping a cool and calm composure, I straightened my back and brushed past him, moving towards the bed.“Suit yourself.” I said without so much as looking at him.I am pissed now, and for why I do not even know.I felt his eyes on me the entire time I propped on the bed and fixed the sheets to my liking. From the back of my head, I am pretty sure he is watching me with those cool, ocean eyes. Then I turned, shooting my eyes to his cerulean orbs watching me with so much intensity I almost froze. Almost, yet I managed to pull myself together.“Well? Are you just going to stand there and watch?” I asked with a raised br

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE HUNDRED FORTY FIVE

Valerie’s POVI stared at Grandma Iris in pure shock and disbelief.Did she just say…‘I think she just did.’ Liana affirmed, much to my horror.“Based on my calculations, we have about a week. You must mate within that period upon the request of the moon goddess.” She said as if her word is law.I understand that this, for some reason, must be what the moon goddess wanted, but I don’t know. I don’t even know if my heart is ready for it. For him.And besides, I can’t.Sighing, I looked down at my lap.“I can’t.” I whispered. There were a few moments of silence before I snapped up to Grandma Iris who is looking at me with a still blank expression on her face.“And why is that?”I could feel Evan’s eyes boring holes into me, sending unexpected shivers through my whole body. “I… I have a mate waiting for me back home.” I reasoned.“Hm. So that is the challenge the moon goddess warned me about.” Iris said more to herself than any of us.“And we have come here looking for you. We need yo
