EVAN

Days have gone by, or was it weeks? I'm not entirely sure, and a part of me don't really care. I want to see her and my son, but I can't.

Now I have banished myself to the bed. The only place left of her scent. At least in here, it's as if she never left.

A knock on the door interrupts my daily conversation to myself, as I stared into the oblivion that seemed never-ending, in this room. I didn't bother answering. I knew exactly who it was.

I haven't bothered counting, but if I am guessing

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE-HUNDRED ONE - War is coming

Valerie’s POVThe blizzard showed no signs of relenting. The wind continued to scream against the mouth of the cave, throwing curtains of crystalline snow across the entrance where Silas and his men stood like frozen sentinels. Inside, the air was heavy with the smell of damp stone, the metallic tang of Evan’s healing wounds, and the stifling weight of ten years of unspoken grief.I kept my hand on his knee for a moment longer than necessary before pulling back, tucking my arms into my tactical vest. The silver spark in my chest was quiet, but it was alert. a humming vibration that sensed every hitch in Evan’s breathing."You should eat something," I said, reaching into my pack and pulling out a vacuum-sealed ration bar. I tossed it to him.He caught it with reflexes that were still unnervingly sharp, though his hands trembled as he struggled with the packaging. I didn't help him. He needed to find his own strength, and I needed to maintain the distance I had spent a decade building.

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   ONE HUNDRED - Are you real?

Valerie's POVThe drive back to the Reek was agonizingly slow. Evan’s body was a map of trauma, his muscles twitching with the phantom remnants of the spell, and though he was human now, he moved with the jagged, uncertain gait of someone relearning how to inhabit their own skin. Silas and the others kept a respectful, albeit wary, distance, their hands never straying too far from their holsters. They saw a rogue. I saw a man who had been hollowed out.A sudden, violent blizzard slammed into the ridge, the visibility dropping to zero within seconds. The wind howled with a predatory hunger, making it impossible to continue the descent safely."Alpha! We have to take cover!" Silas shouted over the gale. "There’s a shallow cave system half a mile East. We won't make the vehicles in this.""Go!" I commanded. We hunkered down in a narrow limestone cavern. It was cramped and smelled of damp earth, but it was out of the biting wind. My team set up a perimeter at the mouth of the cave, leavin

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   NINETY-NINE - She's here

Evan’s POVIt’s cold. Everything feels cold and lifeless. Three years ago, I found that my mate, Isabella, betrayed me. She had me under a spell. It turns out she had the blood of a dark witch running through her veins, and she happened to be damn good at it to conjure a spell that would perfectly mimic the effects and feelings of a true mate bond. No wonder why I thought she was my mate. The spell was supposed to be made so that whoever it targets would think she is his mate.Alpha Israel was the mastermind behind it all. My pack was killed. Everyone’s dead. Everyone except me.I managed to escape but everytime I felt Iit, the betrayal pains, my wolf would cry out in pain.I traveled through territories. No other pack was willing to take me in, fearing I am cursed. As time passed, so did my anger. I hunted for food, searched for caves to spend the night. They are good against the weather. And when the moon is high, I look above it and think back on the times I used to have it all.

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   NINETY-EIGHT - Right here

Valerie’s POVThe impact was like being hit by a freight train made of muscle and hate. I didn't shift. If I let Liana take over now, I’d lose the surgical precision of the silver spark. Instead, I braced my weight, digging my boots into the frozen earth as his massive paws slammed into my shoulders. The sheer force drove my knees inches into the permafrost."Evan, stop!" I screamed again, the command laced with the power of my fae magic. He didn't stop. He couldn't. The blood-red light in his eyes drowned out any shred of the man who had once brought me wildflowers in the spring. His snout was wrinkled back in a permanent snarl, revealing rows of teeth stained with the dark ichor of the spell. He snapped at my face, his hot, metallic breath washing over me. I jerked my head back, feeling the wind of his jaws closing just a hair’s breadth from my nose.I slammed my palms against his chest, releasing a focused burst of silver energy. It wasn't meant to kill, but to disrupt. The light f

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   NINETY-SEVEN - He's here

Valerie's POVThe steel gates of the Shadow Reek groaned open, sounding like a heavy heartbeat echoing through the valley. I didn't look back. If I caught Valerian’s golden eyes or Tyrone’s protective stance one more time, my resolve might crack. I stepped through the shimmering veil of the outer wards, feeling the sudden drop in temperature as the ancient protection fell away, replaced by the biting, unnatural chill of the Northern wastes.Tyrone’s kiss still burned on my lips. A brand of the life I had chosen. But as I walked toward the waiting transport, the silver spark in my chest began to churn. It sensed the distant, jagged frequency of the creature I had once been forced to flee. The journey north took three days. I spent most of it in the back of a tactical SUV, poring over grainy satellite footage. Tyrone had insisted on sending his best trackers, but I kept them at a distance. This wasn't a standard investigation. This was an exorcism of a ghost that refused to stay dead.B

  • Alpha's Detective Luna   NINETY-SIX - Promise

Valerie’s POVA frown formed on Tyrone's handsome face, making me smirk."Why? Can't get enough?" I teased. He huffs, grabbing me by the waist, and crushing his lips into mine. I moan into the kiss and slide my hands on his chest.Strange. For some reaosn I always knew we would somehow end up together. After I rejected Killian for good, he had kept his distance from me and the pack, taking Silvana with her. Liana huffed good riddance, and I felt a bit sad until Tyrone kissed all those worries away.In months, we are talking and laughing with each other. Within a year, I am in his bed, legs sprawled as he fucks me harder and harder every night.I assume the entire pack could hear us make love to each other, but I'm also pretty sure they have gotten used to it over time. The Shadow Reek was no longer a makeshift camp of refugees. It was a sprawling, subterranean fortress of light and stone. Over the last decade, I had turned this valley into a sanctuary that even the High Council feare
