Valerie's POV:

A sharp pull hit my chest out of nowhere, like something inside me had been yanked tight.

Killian.

‘I feel him,’ Liana breathed, and there was no mistaking the shift in her tone.

The wolves felt it too.

The one in front of me faltered mid-step, its ears flattening as a low growl rolled through the clearing. It wasn’t loud, but it carried. It didn’t belong to any of them.

It belonged to him.

The air changed. It pressed down on everything, thick with dominance that didn’t ask to be

Chapter 152Evan’s POVI see Valerie’s wolf, Liana, drop to the ground with a thud and my heart stopped.“VALERIE!”I ran towards her wolf, and crouched down to examine if she had any fatal injuries that caused her to lose her consciousness. My eyes immediately spot a large wound on her hind leg. It is bleeding profusely and it looks like someone had torn a huge chunk of meat out of it. Checking her pulse, she is still breathing, but barely.Suddenly, I see the fur beginning to retract back into her skin, before taking Valerie’s human form. She had shifted back and now I see more wounds all over her body.“Evan.” Iris’ voice had me shooting my eyes back up to her. She holds a look of concern as she stares at Valerie. She had fought well too. I have never seen a witch fight before, not like that, but I feel an immense relief to see she is also safe. More like she is part of my pack.Is it because she is part of Valerie’s? I am not sure.I turn my head and look back at Valerie. Then I

Valerie’s POVAs we started on the dirt path, my wolf felt restless. She can’t stop pacing and pacing around in my head, it’s making me feel rather dizzy.‘Liana, will you stop it?’ I almost beg, but she shakes her head at me.‘I can’t. Something is wrong. I can feel it.’I sigh deeply and try to look inward.‘What are you talking about?’ I ask her, at least if I know what she is so worried about, I might do something about it rather than just stand here and feel her pace.‘I don’t know. But the bond… It’s fading. Just a little, but I felt it. I know I did.’ She says more to herself than me.My brows furrow in confusion as I look over my shoulder at Evan. His eyes are cast down, and it seems he is lost in his own thoughts. The walk had been silent the next 30 minutes. None of us spoke to one another, although I would occasionally point out directions for where to go and the possible shortcuts back to my pack.We have traveled over and found Grandma Iris after a whole day and a half,

Valerie’s POV‘But I could feel them. Grandma Iris was right. I don’t know what happened but somehow, they survived.’ Liana tells me, and my heart eased. He cut his eyes to the ground and his shoulders sagged.I could see his body visibly trembling. Instead of acknowledging his words, I stepped forward to him. It’s as if my body had its own mind, and I raised my fingers to his chin, lifting his eyes. The moment he does, my stomach sinks.Pain. His eyes are filled with a deep, massive pain and guilt, devastation all at once.Just like earlier, my body moves in its own accord and moves closer, until I could hear him breathing and graze his chest slightly with my shirt. He stared into my eyes absentmindedly, and at that moment I desperately wanted to bring him back. So, moving closely and ever so slowly, I bring my lips to his. It is as if he came back to his senses, a surprised look now settling on his face when he sees what is happening, but I don’t move.I simply stay in my position a

Valerie’s POVIt’s as if a whole bucket of ice cold water came splashing down my head like a giant waterfall. At first, I was stuck in place. But the moment Evan cleared his throat, I managed to gather my bearings and immediately stand up from his bed.How the hell did I end up beside Evan, I can only be sure this is Liana’s doing. But as soon as I mentioned her name, she tucks tail and hides in her own little bubble.Grandma Iris raised a brow at me looking me from head to toe but I was more focused on the fact she had caught me sleeping on his bed.“I… This is not what it looks like,” I tried to explain but she wouldn’t have it.Shaking her head, she turned away and started for the door instead.“Oh I understand perfectly well, dear. However, before you come outside…” she suddenly stopped walking towards the door. Looking over her shoulder, she says.“Make sure you get dressed.” And with that, she left.I was left confused, wondering what she meant before I looked down and it all ma

VALERIAN’S POV'Still no news from Mom?' I mindlinked uncle Zayne.'Nothing. We have been trying to connect with her but it seems she is somewhere out of reach. I can't feel her wolf.' Uncle Zayne grumbled.I sighed, nodding my head.'Okay. I need to check on Levi,'After that I hung up and made my way to the clinic. He isn't getting any better. My wolf wouldn't stop pacing around my head, but all he's doing is making me even more nervous.'Will you stop it?' I growled at my wolf.Mother and my father are out there looking for Grandma Iris. To be honest, I didn't really want to be hostile towards him, given the changes and smiles he brought upon our pack. But I couldn't help it. I grew up thinking he hated me, hated mom, but now he's here, and I don't know what to make of it.'Let us just focus on mate.' My wolf advises, which I am grateful for. I don't really want to dwell on thoughts about my father for so long, especially when I don't even know what to make of it.Stepping inside

Valerie’s POV:We stayed like that for a couple of moments. I didn’t know what to say.Looking into his eyes, I saw no pretense. He was telling the truth from the bottom of his heart. Is this really the man who I married all those years ago? Is this the man who treated me so indifferently as if I don’t exist in his life?‘No. He’s not.’ Liana answered for me. And she’s right. Looking at him, I curve my lips into a smile.“So you’ve really changed, huh?”His eyes lit up like a puppy as he nodded his head.“So is that a yes?” he asked, excited. I have no idea why. He won’t get anything out of me and he still acts like he has won a gold trophy. With a sigh, I nodded my head.“You are Valerian’s father. I want him to know you as this Evan, and not the old one,” I said and chuckled. He smiled, but it’s as if he is unable to stop himself his arms wrapped around my body in a warm, gentle hug.“Thank you.” he said and I could hear the sincerity in his voice.I froze in my spot, but kept my b
