Chapter 8: Escaped

Muna finished taking a bath, and she changed into the clothes Dexter brought for her, which were neatly folded on the bed.

It was a black sweatshirt that was two times bigger than her body when she wore it. The sweatshirt was reaching her above her knees; at least it covered her thighs.

It was past ten and the Alpha was not back yet, and she wondered where he went, but who cares? At least she was not going to see that stone face of his till tomorrow morning, and that's if he came back tonight.

Muna, not feeling sleepy and feeling bored already, walked into the balcony as a soft breeze blew her hair to her face, and she smiled as she felt the wind against her skin.

She gazed into the dark forest ahead of her, and she remembered her dream. Her nightmares finally turned into reality, and she remembered Sharon's words about her being a werewolf's mate.

She was right after all.

She missed her friends and family too.

She missed Nathan.

She missed Raymond. She wished to see him again, and probably Danielle would have freed him from the spell and she would talk to him again.

If only she could escape from this Godforsaken mansion, which had very tight security with crazy werewolf warriors roaming about.

Muna was still thinking of how to escape when she heard the sound of the door being opened, but she didn't turn around to look, thinking it was Dexter.

“Who the fuck are you?” A woman's voice rang inside the room, and she finally turned around to see a young woman standing behind her with crossed arms and a frown on her face.

Her eyes were bright yellow, which shows that she was a werewolf. She was wearing a tiny red dress with a single strap and a little flare just above her knees.

She was Klara, the daughter of Alpha Nicholas of the Blue Moon Park.

Muna just stared at the woman, not knowing what to say, and she heard the woman talk again.

“So the rumours were true after all,” Klara said, walking closer to where she stood on the balcony, and she stood at the entrance staring at her straight in the eye.

“What rumors?” Muna asked with a frown on her face.

“Oh, you can talk?" I thought you were dumb. The woman said in a mocking tone that Muna didn't like it, and she glared at her.

“I am not dumb,” she said, and Klara chuckled.

“I heard everyone saying that the warriors caught a human girl who was trying to escape from the park house, and then I heard someone say that the Alpha gave the warriors strict orders not to let her out of the park house, so I was curious to know who the girl was, and while the Alpha would give such an order over a human girl because, as far as I know, he doesn't care about humans, then that can only mean one thing.”

“What thing?” Muna asked as her frown deepened.

“That you're his mate.” The woman said with narrowed eyes, as though she were hoping that she was wrong and the girl standing in front of her wasn't Jayden's mate.

But the girl's reply made her furious.

“Of course that's what he said, that I am his mate, and you just confirmed it!" "I was hoping you would even say something else, but instead you just made my night bad,” Muna said, throwing her hands up in the air.

“He told you that?” Klara said as her eyes turned black in anger, and she walked past the glass door into the balcony, now standing two steps away from Muna.

Klara was a little bit taller, and Muna had to strain her neck to look up at her.

Why was she angry?

Did she say something wrong?

Or perhaps she was one of the Alpha's crushes because she realized that it was only after she told her that she was his mate that she became angry.

Where was Dexter anyway?

Her watch, Wolf?

Wasn't he supposed to be watching over her now?

“Listen to me, human, you better leave before Alpha returns back because no one, not even you, can take him away from me; only I belong to him and no one else,” Klara said with a growl.

She was right; this woman in front of her was one of the alpha's crushes, but she didn't care. She can have him all to herself whether mate or not that was not her problem.

“And who cares? I don't care about him, and I don't wish to be his mate either,” Muna said.

“Lies, but let me just tell you something you need to know: Alpha hates humans, so you better leave before he kills you one day.” Klara said she was finding ways to make the girl scared of Jayden and escape for her dear life.

Unknown to her, Muna was finding a way to leave the park house, and Muna laughed upon hearing what she said: “He's not going to kill me.”

“How can you be so sure about that?”

“I'm surprised you're asking me that when you are aware that years back after the war the moon goddess cursed the werewolves not to kill any other creatures apart from their kind, so I'm sure that he wouldn't want to loose his inner beast the same as you too,” Muna said, and Klara chuckled as her eyes returned back to yellow.

“Smart,” she said, "even if he can't kill you, he can still torture you so that you wish to die.”

“I see,” Muna said and smiled as she finally understood what Klara was trying to do. “If you are looking for a way to make me leave, please kindly show me the way out because I'm dying to leave here and go back to my family and friends.”

Klara narrowed her eyes at her suspiciously, but then she smirked and gave her a friendly smile, which surprised Muna because ever since Klara came into the room, she had been glaring and snarling at her, so what's up with the friendly smile now?

“I'll be glad if you show me the way.” Klara said to be sure if the girl meant what she said or if she was just playing with her.

“Let me get my clothes, and then we can leave,” Muna said, going to get her pjs as she didn't want to leave anything belonging to her in this Godforsaken mansion.

Klara watched her leave and thought that she really meant what she said.

“Okay, let's go,” Muna said, and they both left the room, but she still wondered where Dexter was, as she hadn't seen him since after he gave her his clothes to wear.

But then she was happy she didn't see him, or else her plan to escape with this strange woman from God knows where wouldn't work.

Maybe she was her savior.

When they finally got out of the mansion, Muna was dumbfounded by how wide the park house was. She hadn't paid attention to look around the park house; all she intended to do was escape. There were only a few people walking here and there as the rest had gone to sleep, but how were they going to get past the warriors outside the gates?

Surprisingly, they got past the first gate after Klara lied that she was just showing Muna around the estate so she would be familiar with it, but one of the warriors said that their Alpha had given them strict orders not to let her out of their sight.

“Did you lose part of your brain or you just decide to be dumb?” Klara said, and the warrior frowned. “I said I'm just showing her around, and after that, she will go back to her room.” She hissed and grabbed Muna’s hand and walked out of the guard's sight, who could only watch them leave, but that does not mean that he wouldn't keep an eye on them.

Muna’s eyes got wide upon seeing the way Klara talked back to the warrior, and she thought that she must be an important person in the park house.

“Keep your eyes on alert in case you notice that someone is following us, grab my attention,” Klara said.

“Why would anyone follow us?” Muna asked.

“Because I just provoked that warrior, he would want to follow us secretly to know if I'm truly showing you around or not.” Klara said, and Muna’s mouth formed an "O" as she quietly followed Klara, praying silently in her mind that the Alpha shouldn't return now or else... She didn't want to think about what would happen to her.

Then she noticed a shadow that had been following them for a while now, and when she looked back, she didn't see anyone or the shadow.

“I think someone is following us,” she said, and Klara turned around to see if there was anyone following them, but she couldn't see any, and then she sniffed and caught the scent of a werewolf.

Someone was truly following them.

“Then I think we should head back,” she said, and Muna frowned.

“ What? "No not when we are almost close to the second gate,” she said.

“And you think the warriors outside will let me take you out of the estate like how I took you out of the mansion? You must be kidding.”

“But... I thought you..." "How are we then going to go out if we return back?” Muna asked as she crossed her arms.

“Don't worry, I have a plan. Let's go.” Klara said she would begin to walk back to the mansion, and Muna raised a brow at her, and then she looked at the gates one more time before she turned around and followed Klara.

On their way back, they met the warrior from before, and just before they could get past him, he stopped them. “Miss Klara, the girl should be asleep in her room before Alpha returns. You can continue your tour tomorrow when it is bright,” he said.

“Of course I was returning her back to her room, so there is no need for you to worry,” Klara said with a small smile on her lips and dragged Muna along with her.

When they were finally out of his sight, Klara let go of Muna as if she were some kind of plague, but she didn't mind.

“So what's your plan, Miss Klara?” Muna asked when they got back to the room, but before Klara could say anything, they heard a knock on the door and Dexter's voice.

“Hello Muna, are you awake?”

“Quick on the bed,” Klara said, and she immediately leapt out of the room from the balcony, and Muna quickly laid on the bed, pretending to be asleep.

“I'm coming in,” Dexter said, and he got inside the room to see the girl asleep. He thought he heard voices coming from inside, but when he sniffed, he caught a faint scent of a werewolf lingering in the air, and he frowned.

Someone was here.

Something doesn't feel right.

He walked over to the balcony and looked around, but there was no one in sight, so he walked back inside the room and stared at the girl lying on the bed for a while before he left quietly.

Muna tried as hard as she could to steady her breathing so Dexter wouldn't notice that she was awake because she knew werewolves were capable of hearing the sound of a heartbeat due to their sharp hearing like vampires, so she tried to stay calm.

After some minutes, when she heard the door close, she got out of the bed and walked to the balcony, where Klara had jumped out from. It was very high from the ground, so how in hell did she jump without being scared?

She was sure that she broke a few bones in her body.

Just then she saw Klara come out of her hiding place, and she leapt from the ground and climbed into the balcony again, and Muna had to move back to give her some distance.

“Come on, we have to jump down before he returns,” she said while glancing at the door.

“ What? "Are you out of your mind? Do you want me to die?” Muna said, surprised.

Does she think she was a werewolf like her?

“Look, we don't have time to argue right now. Once I shift into my wolf form, you climb on my back, and we get the fuck out of here.” Klara said, leaving no space for arguments, and without waiting another second, she began to shift into her wolf.

Muna could hear the cracking of bones, and she could see fur sputtering out from her skin. Her hands turned into sharp claws, and her back bent as she stood on all fours. Klara groaned as she shifted. The process was painful, but she was used to her bones breaking and reshaping again.

After the whole transformation, Muna saw a big brown wolf standing in front of her, staring at her with its yellow slitted eyes, and she began to get scared in case it became mad all of a sudden and attacked her.

But she saw it bow its head for her to get on its back, but she was scared to get close to it, and the brown wolf saw that she wasn't moving from where she stood and decided to move close to her, but she immediately raised her hand in fear.

“No, stay where you are. I'm coming. She said and took a deep breath, then breathed out as she rubbed her palms together.

"You can do this, Muna." She chanted in her mind and finally walked to where the brown wolf was waiting for her, and she saw it bow its head again. She raised her trembling hands and touched its brown fur, holding it tight as she climbed over its back in fear.

Just as she climbed it's back, the brown wolf leapt off the balcony, and Muna screamed out in fright as she held its fur tightly and shut her eyes.

She heard the wolf growl, warning her to keep quiet as soon as they landed on the ground close to the high fence that separated the mansion from the forest.

Just as she opened her eyes, the wolf leapt again over the high fence, and they got into the forest. The brown wolf shifted back to its human form, and Klara got up from the ground and dusted her clothes. To Muna's surprise, her clothes were still intact, as though she had not just transformed into a wolf just now.

“Jeez, did you plan on killing me?” Muna said, placing her hand on her chest and her beating heart, and panting hard as though she were the one who jumped.

“Well, thanks to you for screaming and alerting everyone, they will now come looking, so you better start running now till you come out of this forest,” Klara said, and Muna looked at her and then at the forest and back at her.

“ What? You can't just leave me here alone, and beside, I don't know where or how to get out of the forest.

“Did you expect me to carry you home? And I think I remember you asking me to show you the way out, and I just did that, so you're on your own now,” Klara said, and she shifted back to her brown Wolf again and leapt back into the mansion.

Muna looked back into the dark forest and remembered her dream. The forest looked exactly like the one in her dream, and she became scared again.

She felt like going back into the mansion through the gates, but not after what she had gone through. She took a deep breath and ran into the forest, even though she didn't know where she was going.

Meanwhile, the moment Klara jumped back into the mansion and shifted back, she caught a glimpse of Jayden and Ryder and the warriors walking towards the mansion, and she immediately hid herself because if Jayden finds out that she was the one who let his mate out of the mansion, he wasn't going to spare her.

At the same time, Dexter got back into the room to check on Muna, but his eyes got wide when he couldn't find her in the room, and he became angry.

He knew something was fishy.

He immediately ran out of the room to go alert the warriors to search for her. He had failed to watch over her, and he didn't know how he was going to tell Jayden that she was gone, but on his way, he bumped into Alpha and Ryder, and he gulped.

“Alpha's gone,” he said, having no choice, and Jayden frowned.

“What do you mean she's gone?” he asked.

“Muna is not in her room; she left,” Dexter said, and Jayden's eyes turned pitch black in anger as his hands turned fists.

And in the next few seconds, he shifted into his wolf form and disappeared into the forest.
