Chapter 9: Who Let You Out?

Jayden followed the scent of his mate as he ran into the dark forest. She mustn't have gone too far, and what the hell was she thinking entering into the forest anyway? What if she was attacked by a ferocious animal or a rogue werewolf?

He increased his speed as he dodged branches of lower trees and high roots of trees.

Muna ran and ran as fast as her legs could carry her in the dark, eerie forest. She hadn't even gotten far into the forest when she felt that something was chasing her, so she increased her speed while praying to the moon goddess to save her from the trouble she had gotten herself into.

She should have just stayed back in the mansion. She shouldn't have listened to Klara; she thought it would be easier for her to escape, but instead she got herself into trouble.

Something was chasing her; something huge was chasing her. She couldn't see what it was, but she could feel it behind her, and she could hear its deep, scary, and ferocious growls reverberating and shaking the forest.

It sounded like she was being chased by a wolf. It couldn't be the Alpha, or was he back and chasing after her?

Could it be Dexter, or her watch, Wolf?

He would have known about her absence in the mansion and was now chasing after her.

She wouldn't let the Alpha or Dexter catch up with her, not after she had gone this far.

She was getting tired from running since she hadn't taken a break, but she couldn't rest while she was being chased.

Meanwhile, Jayden, who was still following the scent of his mate, let out a ferocious growl when he caught the scent of a rogue wolf, and just then he heard the roar of the rogue werewolf, and he ran even faster deep into the forest when he caught sight of a black wolf some distance away from him.

It looks like it was chasing something with how fast it was running, and just then Jayden heard the sound of a beating heart and gasped with his sharp hearing.

He was right. the rogue werewolf was chasing after his mate, and he began to chase after the werewolf, and not up to a minute later he caught up with the rogue werewolf as he pushed it aside, making it hit a tree with a loud thud that he could hear the sound of breaking bones.

The impact with which the werewolf had used to hit the tree had been so strong that it broke a few bones in its body, and it shook its head as it got up on his feet and growled at the werewolf who had pushed it aside.

But upon seeing the huge werewolf standing in front of it, he immediately recognized the Alpha, and it whimpered. But it refused to show its neck in surrender, and he moved back in slow steps, seeing that the Alpha was not attacking him. He immediately moved to attack the Alpha, but Jayden was quick enough to claw its chest and push him down to the ground, biting its neck with his razor-sharp cannies.

The black rogue werewolf whimpered in pain when he felt the Alpha's powerful, huge canines sink into its neck, and it tried to release himself because if he didn't, he would die because of the blood it was leaking, but then Jayden threw it towards another tree with his bloody fangs.

As soon as the black werewolf hit the tree for the second time, it immediately got up on its feet and ran away for its life.

Jayden watched it run away but didn't chase after him because he knew he wouldn't survive his feral bite on its bleeding neck.

He had more important things to do, and that was to find his mate. He still had to catch her and return her to the mansion, and he was going to punish her so that next time she wouldn't try to think of escaping.

Muna continued to run, breathing heavily as she stepped on dry leaves and twigs. She could feel the chilly breeze biting against her skin, and she shivered.

Her teeth clattered together, and her hair covered her face while she ran.

Thanks to the bright moonlight, she could see through the forest, but unfortunately, she didn't see the extended root of a tree in front of her when she turned around to see if she was still being chased, as she could no longer hear a sound except the sound of her loud breathing and her steps.

She kicked the root so hard that she tripped over it, and she fell with a loud thud on the ground. She tried so hard not to scream as she used both her hands to cover her mouth in a tight grip, holding back her scream, so whatever was chasing her wouldn't know where she was and catch up with her.

A few minutes passed, and she continued to lay there on the cold ground, bearing the throbbing and sharp pain of her sprained ankle, but she didn't hear a single sound aside from her own rapid breathing.

Probably what was chasing her had gone another way, and she sat up and looked around her surroundings for a sigh of anything moving, and when she was sure that she was indeed safe, she stood up and dusted her clothes.

And she started limping, trying to find her way out of the dark and scary forest despite the pain. But then she heard a low growl behind her, and she turned around to look, but she didn't see anything but thick darkness.

Muna was sure she heard something just now, or was it her imagination?

She turned back around to continue limping her way out of the forest when all the air in her lungs left her and she fell so hard on her butt with wide eyes and a parted mouth trembling in fear as she stared at what was standing in front of her.

It was a huge grey werewolf, and its size was five times bigger than a normal wolf. Its pitch-black eyes stared down at her like a predator staring down at its prey.

What was this that had been chasing her all this while?

God, it was so huge!

Her dream finally turned into reality.

Jayden stared down at her, and he bared his sharp canines that were akin to those of a razor blade at her as he walked closer to her, letting out a low growl, and she moved back, trembling in fear at the sight of the huge werewolf walking towards her.

Was this going to be the death of her?

She shouldn't have run away; now she was going to die and nobody was going to save her.

She wouldn't see her family and friends again. She wouldn't see Raymond again.

"Please, Sierra, save me from this beast," she prayed in her mind as tears streamed down her cheeks in fear. She felt a lump in her throat, and she began to sweat profusely.

Suddenly the grey werewolf raised its head to the moon and let out a loud howl that shook the whole forest, and she thought it was the best time for her to run and escape. though she knew that she wouldn't get very far before she would be caught and torn into many pieces.

just as she was busy thinking of how she would escape. She saw the werewolf look back at her with its pitch black eyes, and she watched as it opened its huge mouth and lowered its head to bite her. She closed her eyes, waiting for the pain.

Muna screamed in terror as she covered herself with her hands.

She was dying!

She was dying!

But then she felt no pain, she felt no bite, and when she opened her eyes, she couldn't find the werewolf anymore but a tall man about six feet tall staring back at her.

Huh !  Where was the werewolf just now?

Or was it...

Then it dawned on her that the werewolf had turned into a man, and he was the one standing in front of her. She stood up from the ground and was about to ask him who he was when she recognized who it was.

It was the Alpha!

He... He was the grey werewolf just now?

But how did he find her?

She was doomed.

He was going to punish her for leaving the mansion.

Jayden stared at her angrily as he walked closer to her, and he grabbed her by the neck and pinned her to a tree, but this time he didn't choke her.

“Who asked you to leave the mansion?” he asked in an angry tone as he snarled at her.

“I.. I ” Muna was short of words to say, seeing the death glare he was giving her, and she swallowed hard.

“ YOU WHAT ? ”  He barked at her.

“I was going back home; now let me go,” she said as she tried to pry his hand away from her neck, but her attempt was futile.

Jayden was holding himself back so he wouldn't snap her neck in two, but he knew that would make him loose his inner beast, and he wouldn't let that happen.

This girl was getting bolder and bolder every minute, but he would teach her a lesson she would never forget in her life.

His hold on her fragile neck tightened, and Muna gasped as she struggled to breathe.

“You're choking me,” she said as she gasped for air to breathe.

“Of course I know that I'm choking you,” Jayden said.

“Now answer my question, where did you think you were going in this dark forest and who let you out of the mansion?” he asked, releasing his hand a bit so she could breathe.

Muna didn't want to expose Klara. “Why didn't you just kill me instead? Because if you're truly my mate, you wouldn't be treating me like that.” She suggested changing the topic, and Jayden frowned.

Jayden knew that someone had let her out of the mansion, someone bold enough to disobey his order. He had ordered his Gamma to keep watch on her, but he failed, and he was sure it wasn't his warriors who let her go as they wouldn't dare disobey him.

But whoever was the one who let her out of the mansion was going to regret ever doing that when he laid his hands on him or her.

His black eyes fell on the sweatshirt she was wearing, and he knew it belongs to no one but his Gamma as he could perceive his strong scent coming from the clothes, and he felt his wolf clawing at his chest as he didn't like it that their mate was wearing another man's clothes and also the fact that he was choking her, so he finally released her neck.

Muna coughed as she rubbed her aching neck while glaring at him.

“This is the last chance I will give you to answer the question I asked you,” Jayden said as a low growl reverberated through his chest, and at the same time a few werewolf warriors, together with Ryder and Dexter, arrived in the forest and surrounded both of them.

When Muna's eyes met with Dexter's, she saw that he was frowning at her, and she knew that he was not happy with her, so she turned back to look at Jayden.

“ F*ck you,” she said, and spat on the ground.

SLAP !

Muna’s face turned to the side when Jayden's large hand landed on her cheek, and her mouth parted in shock.

She held her cheek as she turned back to look at him, still in shock. She had not expected him to slap her, and she could feel her cheek burn as he had slapped her so hard.

She tasted something metallic in her mouth, which she knew was her blood, and she spat it out as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Jayden looked away from her; he could feel his wolf growling at him, and he knew it wasn't happy with what he just did to their mate.

He knew if he didn't look away from her and those teary eyes, his Wolf would make him walk up to her and wipe her tears away, so he walked away.

He took a deep breath as he looked at his beta. “Take her back to the mansion,” he said, and then he shifted back into his wolf form and left without turning back to look at his mate.

After he left, Ryder walked up to Muna, who was now sobbing, and he gave her a pity look, but before he could say anything, Dexter beat him to it.

“Let me,” he said, and Ryder stepped aside.

Muna, upon hearing his voice, looked up with her teary eyes, and she threw herself at him and hugged him as she cried even louder, not caring about the others, and Dexter wrapped his arms around her, hugging her back all the while looking out in case Jayden returned.

While hugging her and patting her back, he heard Ryder's mind link him.

[Don't tell me Jayden saw her wearing your clothes.]

[He did], Dexter said back.

[The fact that Jayden is maltreating her doesn't mean he won't get angry seeing her wear your clothes.]

[ I know ]

After hearing Dexter's reply, Ryder shifted into his white and black wolf and left, with the four warriors remaining behind as the other four had left with Jayden.

“It's alright now, let's get back to the mansion,” Dexter said, and Muna finally pulled away and looked at him.

“He hit me,” she said in a choked voice, and Dexter wiped her tears away with his thumb.

“I'm sorry about that, but if you hadn't left the mansion, he wouldn't have hit you.” He said, “Let's go back now before he comes looking for you again.”

Muna nodded her head, and she watched him shift into a beautiful golden wolf that was bigger than Klara's brown wolf, but among them all, Jayden's wolf was three times bigger and taller than theirs.

Dexter's golden wolf matched with his yellow slitted eyes, and his transformation was not as painful as Klara's; he only felt a little pain, and the next moment he was standing on all fours.

She watched him lower his body so she could get on his back, which she did, though she was a little bit scared, and he immediately took off running back to the mansion.

When they finally got back to the mansion, Muna hid herself behind Dexter for protection, and this angered Jayden even more.

He was trying to calm himself down for the fact that she ran away, and secondly, she was wearing Dexter's clothes, and now she was hiding behind him.

“Come out so I can see you,” he said in the most calm voice he could muster.

Muna, not wanting to get on his bad side or be slapped again, quickly came out but did not move close to him, and she kept her head down, not looking at him in the eye.

“I'm going to ask you again for the last time to tell me who let you out of the mansion.” He asked her when he saw her fumbling with her fingers and biting her lips. “Look up when I'm talking to you,” he said.

Muna, upon hearing what he said, looked up at him, but she didn't still look at him in the eye, and this enraged him.

Ryder, Dexter, and the warriors could feel his enraged breathing from where they stood, and they hoped that he wouldn't do anything else to her.

“ Look at me !!! ”  He said it louder this time, and she finally looked at him in the eyes, which were still black.

“I... left by myself,” she said.

“Lies,” Jayden said. “Tell me who helped you out, and I will spare you tonight.”

Muna didn't want to expose Klara because she feared what Jayden would do to her. Jayden couldn't kill her because she was his mate and a human, but Klara was a werewolf, so Jayden could kill her and his inner beast would still be intact.

“Nobody helped me out,” she said, and Jayden finally gave up.

“Kent lock her up in the basement till she's ready to talk,” he said to one of his warriors, and he turned around and left.

Kent took Muna away as the Alpha had ordered, and Dexter could only watch her in pity, but Ryder didn't show any reaction on his face and he left too.

Muna was being dragged away by Kent and another warrior named Adrian, and she tried to free herself from them, but her strength was no match for theirs.

She was thrown into the basement, and the door was slammed against her face. She stood up and immediately banged on the door with all the strength she had while screaming to be let out.

“No, no, please let me out of here! Let me out! Somebody, please let me out. She continued to bang at the door until she gave up and slid down the door, crying her eyes out.

She was locked up in the basement in utter darkness with no one to help her out.

After Jayden left, he immediately got inside his room as he took off his shirt, leaving his chest bare and exposing the crescent moon tattoo on his left chest and the wolf tattoo on his back.

After he took his bath and changed into his black pajamas with white dots, he walked up to the balcony and looked down at the basement that was down below.

He could hear her still banging at the door to be let out, but he was deaf to it as he mind-linked his Gamma.

[Dexter, get over here now!] He said this through the mind link in a serious voice.
