“Goddess,” Vespara grinned, flopping dramatically onto my bed. “He puts one ring on your finger, and suddenly you are a whole new woman. Who even are you?”

I blushed hard.

“Oop—look at that blush!” she gasped. “I have never seen you turn this red. I’m gonna cry. My old Scarlet is gone.”

“Stop,” I groaned, half laughing, half trying to hide behind my hand.

“Show me the ring,” she demanded, sitting up like a hawk.

I extended my hand sheepishly.

She took one look and stilled. “Wait a second… that’s not just any ring.”

“That’s his mother’s ring,” Vespara whispered. “Alpha Dante’s mom. I saw it once in a portrait hanging in his office. Same sapphire, same setting.”
