The sound of the front door opening and closing made Chris snap his neck so fast that it almost broke in the process.

His eyes were bloodshot with veins popping out of his head and neck. His hands were clenched beside him as he looked at the figure standing there.

He walked slowly stopping in front of her. Then he leaned forward and hugged the girl letting a gasp fly out of the girl's mouth.

She tried pushing him away but he was too strong for her or rather his wolf's strength surpassed hers. She rested her hand on his chest as he buried his nose in her neck inhaling her scent.

"Don't you ever scare me like that ever again." He lets out in a raspy voice.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Isabelle answered.

"Where did you go?" He asked still not letting her go.

"I..."

 .

Isabelle walked around the house before she came across a multicolor beautiful butterfly. It came and perched on her hands that she had stretched out.

Really happy since it was rare for a butterfly to settle on a human she mistakenly shook her hands and off the butterfly went into the forest.

She didn't think twice as she ran after the butterfly yelling "Hey! It's okay."

She ran for a while and felt stupid. She sighed and turned around walking back to the house which she had unknowingly moved far from.

She retraced her steps and made it to the house just in time before Chris Wolf took control and went rampage.

.

"Good girl." He said rubbing her hair. She frowned sliding her head out of his hand before she finally got to push him away.

She glared at him as tears glistened in her eyes and ran away.

Chris ran after her and she slammed the door close in his face. He stood there for a while before he turned his back on her door and sat down.

Isabelle slid down the door and cried remembering her younger sister. Even though her sister was just three, whenever she did something she'd rub her hair saying "Good Girl." in the best way she could.

She held her face in her hands and smiled at the memory. She then stood up and walked to the bathroom. She looked at her horrible self in the mirror and laughed.

She bent over the sink and washed her face before cleaning it dry with a towel. Her eyes moved to her neck and she thought about what just happened in the sitting room. He looked horrified when she saw him. It was like something had happened.

She dropped the towel and walked back to her bedroom. She sat on the bed for a while thinking if she should ask him about it. She finally decided to and walked to her door.

Pulling it open, she almost fell on her butt. She most certainly wasn't expecting him to face her. She stumbled back and blinked her eyes.

"I'm sorry," Chris said suddenly looking at her.

"You... It's not your fault. Really." She said looking down.

Chris nodded and turned to leave. He had taken a step when Isabelle talked again.

"Umm. Can I ask you a question?" She asked. Chris turned and nodded.

"What exactly happened earlier?" She asked crossing her arms.

Chris blinked and sighed. He knew she was going to ask.

"They're here," Chris said.

"Who is?"

"The drug dealers... Those bastards said they're here to get you. I was really scared they had and rushed over here. Imagine how scared and worried I was when I didn't see you in here?"

"Oh... Well, I'm safe now. They can't get me." Isabelle said coming out of the room.

"I hope it stays that way," Chris mumbled.

"You know, I feel you're worrying too much. So much for someone you keep as a prisoner." Isabelle said walking down the stairs.

"Kept. I promised and I will keep that promise." Chris replied.

Isabelle stopped. She didn't look back as she didn't know what to say. Sure, she had a comeback, but she kind of held back from his feelings.

She walked to the kitchen brought out the Lasagna of the other day and sat down taking a portion into her plate. She returned it to the fridge and took a spoon to eat it.

Chris walked away from her into his room. He heard the kitchen fridge door open and close after a few minutes.

He had a shower and walked out with a towel hanging low on his waist. He dressed up and walked downstairs again.

Isabelle had finished her meal at that time. She saw him coming downstairs and he saw her. Both stopped.

Chris was the first to move then Isabelle.

"Hey, do you want some Lasagna?" Isabelle asked pointing her thumb towards the fridge.

Chris looked at the fridge and then nodded. Isabelle took a plate and brought out the Lasagna. She gave him his and sat in the sitting room pressing his phone.

"Thanks," Chris said.

"Hmm," Isabelle replied.

Chris smiled and ate his food.

One Month Later.

Things had been going great between both of them. Isabelle hadn't found out Chris was a werewolf or Antonio or Dolores or anyone.

She had gone out a few times and met the other pack members who showed her respect but she was still confused about it.

She and Dolores had gotten close. Dolores had a mate who was introduced to Isabelle as a boyfriend. His name was Mike and he was a warrior in the pack which was also kept in the dark to Isabelle. Isabelle didn't suspect a thing. They kept it well.

There had been a few slip-ups when she just arrived but now they were living as humans around Isabelle and their true identity around the pack.

Chris was said to be a businessman who while Antonio was his secretary. His office was said to be in the city. Any and Every business was in the city. Isabelle had no issue believing that. I mean, she didn't have a clue they were lying and she couldn't possibly know all the business in the city.

But in all their encounter, Isabelle had never for once called Chris by his name. She asked for his surname and stuck with it.

"I'm going to have to work overnight today," Chris said suddenly to the girl sitting and watching television.

"Okay." She replied simply.

Chris nodded and made his way to his room to prepare for their hunting tonight.

"Hey, girl," Dolores called Isabelle.

"Yeap?"

"So sorry for this but I've got this thing I have to be at tonight so I can't make it to movie night tonight. I'm sorry again." Dolores rambled and closed her eyes.

"No! Not the movie night! I enjoy that. Is it more important than I am?" She asked crossing her arm and then uncrossing it when she realized Dolores couldn't see her.

"Sorry baby," Dolores said.

"Fine." Isabelle replied and pursed her lips only replying with 'hmm' whenever Dolores talked.

When Dolores saw that she wasn't answering again she said sorry and hung up before sighing. All this lying was getting to her. She was Isabelle's best friend but did she even deserve the title of Isabelle's best friend?

Isabelle watched her movie and walked up to her room lying on the bed. She drifted off to sleep soon after.

Chris stood in front of her door listening to her heartbeats as she slept. He then sighed walking out of the house remembering to lock it behind him.

He changed into his midnight black wolf, Xerxes. He ran to the pack lands where the pack members had been waiting for him for over an hour in their wolf forms.

'We are all gathered here for the Moon Festival Hunting! We do this each year on a full moon. It's a full moon today and we're going hunting. Bring home the best game for your family.' Chris said in a mind link and then howled.

Others howled in response and they all ran in different directions to hunt.

The following Morning.

Isabelle woke up, did her business, and walked out of her room. She looked towards Chris's room which was just separated by a room from hers.

"I wonder if he's back." She said tilting her head.

Chris smiled once he heard that and walked out immediately like it was a coincidence.

"Oh, Good Morning." He said.

Isabelle stood there startled before she replied with a simple "Morning."

She walked downstairs with Chris right behind her.

"Why are you following me?" She asked turning around.

Chris looked behind him and then faced her.

"Who? Me? I was going downstairs to eat breakfast." He said and grinned.

Isabelle eyed him suspiciously and turned walking downstairs.

She smirked and walked straight outside. She heard footsteps behind her and she turned around. Chris immediately stretched his body when she turned around.

"Not eating breakfast anymore?" She asked crossing her arms.

"What? Me? Oh... I just had that feeling that exercise before breakfast was the best." He said smiling.

Isabelle tilted her head and walked back inside. Chris followed her again.

"And why are you here again?"

"I have done the exercise. I'm about to eat breakfast."

"You're a very bad liar." She said laughing.

Chris stopped when he heard the word "liar." He was indeed a liar. He had been lying to her for over two months since she arrived.

"I'll go take a shower." He said and walked back upstairs.

Isabelle shrugged and made breakfast for both of them. She thought hard and long and finally decided on making Pancakes.

She hummed while she made the batter then scooped it into a spoon and poured it into the hot oil.

"What are you making?" She heard a voice suddenly. She turned around with her hands on her chest and she ran straight into his chest.

"You scared me! Why are you so close?" She asked stepping away. She almost tripped over herself but Chris caught her in time.

"And yet you ask why I'm so close to you."

Isabelle rolled her eyes and tapped his hands holding her waist. Chris let go of her waist as she stands back and he moves three steps back.

"I'm making Pancakes." She replied walking back to the stove.

"I love pancakes," Chris said.

"Everyone in America does." She replied.

"You don't cook for everyone in America," Chris replied shrugging.

Isabelle shook her head and took the fried pancake from the hot oil into a plate.

"Here you go." She said to Chris who had settled on the breakfast stool.

"Thanks." He replied.

"Hmm," Isabelle replied turning around and making hers as well.

"I'm curious about something anyways," Chris said as he spread syrup on it.

"Yeah?"

"Am I still on Probation or have I graduated?"

"Hmm... Still on probation." Isabelle replied flipping the pancakes.

"Aww," Chris said which made Isabelle shake her head.

"I sometimes think I'm living with a man baby." She said taking out her pancakes on her plate. She moved and took the syrup from a grinning Chris.

She spread it on her pancakes and ate.

When it was in the evening, Chris had gone out and she was bored. Dolores couldn't be there because she had gone to the city. So she wore a jacket over her clothes while walking outside.

She was admiring a rose she had planted right by the house some weeks back when she heard someone clear their throat. She frowned and turned around.

Standing there with crossed arms was a black-haired lady resting on the fence. She hadn't seen this girl before.

"Can I help you?" She asked.

"Look, the human is nice." The woman replied sarcastically.

"What do you mean?" She asked crossing her arms as well.

"You... How stupid you are! To think you're going to steal the Alpha's heart. He's a cold-hearted man, don't you get it?" She asked.

"Who's the Alpha? Look, I don't give a damn. Just get away from here, would you? You're like a fucking cloud. When you're gone, everyone is happy." Isabelle said getting annoyed by the woman. Steal whose heart? She had no idea who she was even talking about.

"Oh, he didn't tell you?" She asked moving near her.

"Tell me what?" She asked suspiciously.

"That you're a fucking worthless woman who he'll dump when he's done with you. All because he's your mate and you're his doesn't mean you'll live together forever. You understand me?!" She yelled.

"Who the fuck owns this dog? It keeps barking and yap..." She hadn't gotten to finish her words when the woman grabbed her throat knocking the air out of it.

"Who did you call a dog? I dare you to repeat that. You worthless human. Piece of trash. You humans don't have the right to live and now you want to be my Luna? Impossible." The woman scoffed her eyes turning another color. She lifted her so her feet weren't touching the ground.

Isabelle scratched at her hands all to no avail. Tears ran down her face as she felt her eyes closing. Her legs were flailing like jellyfish.

With all the strength she could gather, she opened her mouth to talk but only one word came out which was barely in a whisper.

"Chris."

She waited for a few seconds and finally closed her eyes succumbing to the darkness.

She felt her consciousness slipping away from her. Suddenly the force around her throat was away.

She fell to the ground coughing violently as she opened her eyes to a midnight black big dog with its back turned to her heaving heavily.

The woman choking her was a few meters away from them with blood seeping out of her head. She looked away and jumped back when she met the big dog's red eyes staring back at her. She shook her head and crawled back crying.

"I beg you. I'll do anything. Just please don't kill me. Please?" She cried rubbing her hands together as her eyes flickered to the woman.

It didn't feel like she was alive. She was dead. Dead.

The beast took a step closer and she moved backward still on her knees.

"Please. I have a sister who needs me. Please." She begged.

Chris's heart ached as his mate was running away from him. He looked down and ran away into the woods.

Isabelle slumped down heaving a sigh of relief and she ran back inside. She locked the door behind her and ran up to her room dumping all her clothes and she soaked in a tub.

After that, she had no appetite and moved to her bed where she somehow found her sleep.

She was standing in a familiar doorway again with the black dog she saw just now in front of her.

Just like last time, it had a wolfy grin. The dream happened the same way she had seen it before except she finally saw the man's face.

Chris.

She woke up with a gasp to see the same man she had just had a dream of sitting by her bed. She moved back breathing heavily.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I... I thought you were having a nightmare." Chris said.

"You... What are you?" She asked

I feel like this site charges to much to be able read a book through. Yet the books themselves are great.
