I waddled in a dark alley. There was only darkness till the far end, like my life. A chuckle left my mouth at that thought.
I shook my head to stop myself from dwelling any further on this thought and my wolf to start his lectures again.
I gazed in front of me as I reached the end of the dark alley and at my location. There was a house in front of me. Was it mine? Nope, it wasn’t mine. Then whom? You will find out soon...
I entered inside the big mansion-like house. “Look like fucker spent a good amount of money on his living arrangements, impressive.” I scoffed.
‘Pity he can’t enjoy this anymore.’ I thought as I made my way further inside to sit on the black leather lounge in the living room.
I made myself comfortable on black elite looking lounge but not before pouring myself a drink from the minibar in another corner of the living room.
I throw my head back to relax mode as whispers in a lazy
**** Alice P O V I glanced at the mirror to meet the eye of a lady in a maroon dress with dark hair tied up in a fancy bun, wearing a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. Light makeup as always and black matte wedges which go perfectly with a ball gown. Hmm, I was going to attend the firelight festival tonight. The celebration was at Dragomair (The realm of Dragons). I wasn’t sure why, but I was not feeling well and Rhea was sad, too. I asked her so many times and she said she didn’t know what it was, but it was probably an indication of something about to happen. And ever since, I continuously thought about the scenarios, and preparing myself for what’s about to come. But no such luck. I came out of my thoughts when I heard my room’s door open and someone entered inside. I turned to look and met my cousin sister Ellyn. She looked fabulous in her emerald color dress, which suits her perfectly and showed he
He engulfed me in a sweet and comforting hug, but with my wolf continuous tantrum growling in my head, I felt anything but comforting. He breathes in my hair as whispered in my ear, “I can’t wait to complete our marking. I want it done as soon as possible if you want it too. ” I stayed still, trying to evaluate his words, whether it was me who heard something else or lost my mind. But with Rhea’s loud growls in my mind, I bet I heard it right. She was angry at the mere thought of someone else’s mark on her neck except her so-called mate. I scoffed at her thoughts and mumbled ‘novice wolf’. I ignored her and block her from the mind link. I gathered all my courage to meet his eyes. I wanted to know if he seriously wants what he just said? Or just kidding with me. Well, don’t get me wrong here. I was not sure if I wanted that or not, but if you are asking what my brain said, then yes, it was telling me to go ahead a
**** Alice P O V I immigrated to the court hall to attend council meetings and found Ellyn and dad already taken their seats and also other council members and waiting for me. They all stood and bowed their heads in respect as I took my seat and gestured to others to do the same. I could tell from their faces everyone in the court hall today wanted to ask the same query for which I have no answer now. I turned to glance at my dad and Ellyn as asking them through the mind link. “Any new information?” “No. According to our search party, his last location was his home, and after that, nobody saw him.” Ellyn replies, telling details about what the search party found out. “Did they find another scent inside their houses or noticed something suspicious nearby?” I inquired further. There must be something: how would a fifty-year-old man vanish overnight and nobody noticed it? “Nope. No traces, no scents, just theirs, and nobody else was in the house. He lived alone.” She informed me wi
*** Goddess! What kind of monster could do this!? That was my first thought when I stared at the lifeless body of councilor William lying in front of the court hall building. He was in critical condition. Blood was pouring from his heart now, dry over his bare chest and torso. There were black bruises around his wrists, which seemed because of silver chains. And from marks on his face, you could tell someone viciously tortured him before murdered in cold blood. Who could hate him to this extent? I clenched my jaw and balled my fist as my inner beast was close to the edge and wanted to kill whoever did this to that kind-hearted person. He didn’t deserve that! Hell, nobody deserves that brutal treatment. I squatted d
**** Max P O V I was on my way to the courtroom in Dragomair when I got a call telling me the news, which made me kill whoever did all this. I felt so stupid at the moment, trying to suppress my emotions and feelings which were to keep bounced back to the surface with double force, making the pain worse. And who did I have to blame? No one, just me. ‘Damn!’ I shouted while my fist-bumped into the nearest wall, trying to control the rage building inside me. Why wasn’t I there to stop all this and save her, God, when she needed me I was trying to avoid her, trying to escape from myself? I’m a horrible friend who could not even protect his best friend from danger. And my dragon did not go to make this easy for me until I find my best friend and kill whoever fuck
*** “Tell me everything about the councilor’s mate,” I asked firmly when he didn’t answer straight. His jaw clenched, detecting the authority in my voice. “That has nothing to do with your investigation and Ellyn’s kidnapping. Don’t waste your time there.” With that, he turned to avoid my gaze, which was not something normal I used to. I could tell he was hiding something. It was there, written all over his face. “Why am I asking you all this, dad, if it is not something related to all this mess?” I tried to be reasonable, but it seems to not work on him. “Please, I need to know who that woman was who killed the councilor and called him her mate, before tearing his heart out with a silver blade,” I let out in frustration growl. I didn’t do it on purpose this time. I
*** Fucking witch... Yes, she was a witch, and she put some kind of spell on herself. That was why we couldn’t identify her in maid quarters, even when she was in front of us. Now I will show her how fucking grave decision she made to target my sister. I looked into her icy blue eyes, shooting her a warning look as though she was busy trying to mumble some spell. I tightened my grip around her throat further in an attempt to stop her. But the nerves of that witch, still struggling to get out of my grip, which was impossible because the werewolf has more strength than a witch. Witches are like normal humans except for their magic tricks. I shot her a deadly look and asked her
***I turned to look at my surroundings first, maybe that traitor wolf about whom that witches were talking is somewhere near us, someone from the royal caste and among us which I doubted myself. But still, precaution is better than cure after all. And I'm not about to take a chance again, it is already a day since my sister is missing and I still can't even found out where she is, from which I want t
